Yea they did not lie in the strictest sense but as you say still weaselish.

Yeah.
So far the only company that I am aware of that has always delivered "in hand" equipment is Bitmain. And they certainly are not hurting for business. I would hope that somebody with a better/bigger machne would pick up that gauntlet! Or, lacking that, Bitmain come out with a more efficient higher hashpower machine. There have been hints that they are doing so, but nothing solid that I have seen.

Yea and to think I was so close to going with Bitmain instead and you know why I did not ? I wanted to support a British company as we have nothing built on our own shores.
I'm having the same quandary across the pond. AMT claims they are now in the midst of shipping, but there seems no confirmation. Also a shitload of FUD that isn't really being addressed. I got a review unit from them some time ago, based on Technobit boards, and it's a nice little machine. But I gotta see product going to customers before I'll pull the trigger on my limited funds. Plus if they don't ship, my name got mixed up in the deal due to the review unit.

Not fun times. Sad

IMPORTANT!!

We are NOT accepting pre-orders!!!

Unlike other mining hardware suppliers, we won't take pre-orders on our products until we can 100% guarantee a delivery date.

News from your website:

Latest news from Bitcoin Ultra:

7th Mar 2014

The wait is over! From 16:00pm today we have opened orders to our first Enigma 1 miners, which are available on a first come first served basis. This batch of Enigma 1 is guaranteed to be dispatched from us on 31st March 2014.

You can order your Enigma hardware at http://www.bitcoinultra.co.uk/shop

WHAT IS THIS? Sorry, we are not accepting pre-orders, but please, PAY US NOW, AND RECEIVE IT IN 3.5 WEEKS!!!
LIARS.
Please be extremely careful with this, guys. Do not sent them any money, before other people receive their hardware and confirm that this is legitimate. Better safe than sorry!

Playing Devil's Advocate here. It actually says they will not open for preorders until they can guarantee a delivery time. I thought that a bit weaselish right from the beginning, but it does allow them to open a bit earlier than "in hand".

I had hoped they weren't hedging, but still, they didn't lie.
2464  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC Stolen from Poloniex on: March 09, 2014, 07:07:01 PM
The industry average is ~ 10 to 20 bugs per 1k LOC and it's probably fair to state that bitcoind has more lines of code than a small web-based exchange, like Poloniex...  Roll Eyes  All of the finger pointing needs to stop and the community needs to help these exchanges get better.

This isn't a "bug", it is a fundamental flaw in how financial data should be processed.  Mike was being truthful when he said it is "database 101".  It wasn't that the site used transactions to ensure that withdraws were ACID compliant and there was bug on an edge case which resulted in them not being so.  There was no transactions used at all.   The proposed solution was more broken design (as opposed to just broken code) to check existing broken design.

The exchange WILL be robbed again.  It is merely a matter of when not if.

What would you suggest? That's not snark, you seem to have your head on in a lot of areas. I'm not a programmer, so I got nothing to offer. But Poloniex is often the first exchange for a new coin, and they do have a good reputation overall. I was in fact about to register there when this came down. I can't risk it till this is resolved, but I would like to see it resolved.
2465  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC Stolen from Poloniex on: March 09, 2014, 06:58:18 PM
Can I deposit BTC and trade? If I do, will a part of those BTCs be eaten too?

I am not currently a customer, so take it for what it's worth. However, Busoni said it would only affect the balances at the time the bug was discovered, nothing later. I have no idea how many people that affected, but it's not supposed to carry forward. Also, I'm nearly certain that he had said it ONLY affected BTC, not any other coin. Though there were some issues with alt-coin functionality for a few days.

I don't know the details, but I have heard that they've been bought out. Hopefully this means that they will make the necessary changes and continue on.

OK, I see that.  Then, I wonder, who in the world is 1Nbq2XZaRsKknf5fcT2wTXvBS31PaUWSeX at 990TH/18.77%?

It's one of KNCMiner's addresses.
I thought that one was Bitmain?

I suppose it's possible -  do you have a source?

I assumed that since coins from 1Nbq2XZaRsKknf5fcT2wTXvBS31PaUWSeX get combined with 1A73ExsM2doRwTLp82rv5U36QHbBFmHD1X and then paid elsewhere that they belong together - and AFAIK KNC own 1A73ExsM2doRwTLp82rv5U36QHbBFmHD1X.

Earlier in this thread, someone had said that the address that had sex in it was Bitmain. I have no other source, thus the question mark Smiley

I had to check if I really had read "the address that had sex in it". Thanks for my first morning chuckle!
No doubt! That's why I remembered it Cheesy

Mr. Opeum2

Your call for the community to come together sounds good but then proclaiming that you are out of here as soon as you get your miner seems a little hypocritical. being from NYC maybe you don't understand the term community. I find a lot of people from the big city feel alone in a crowd.

Also remember, CLennel was once an overeager fanboy much like yourself and AMT turned on him.

nothing personal, just thought I would point out that the community will be here for you in the end if you don't trash the community in the beginning.

Well with the amount of crap being slung around and the unceasing amount of it yea. My goal actually is to start a community that is better moderated. You have a valid point. It is hypocritical of me. BUT when there is ZERO moderation of the community then yea most people including myself will walk away. Gotta pick my battles so to speak. From this particular thread I would have no motivation to stay on it once I got my miners. Point is stick to the topic which is trying to get AMT to post updates while keeping the flamer/trolls away or ignored. that will help this thread get the updates it needs. That is from my understanding the original intent of this thread for updates. Not AMT bashing. There are plenty of other threads and a scam section for that. I like numerous others just want updates. Not ceaseless conspiracies and other things that provide little information on when the miners are arriving.

Probably not a bad idea, like YourPalToots did with the "order" thread. Maybe make an AMT Users  thread for when/if people start getting their miners.

I find it disturbing that so few people (even on other fora) have confirmed getting even the bitfury units. Yeah, I know that people are not under any obligation to do so, but for just about every other mfg/brand that has shipped, there are dozens of people talking about their shiny (or not so shiny) machine. THIS is where my problme lies. The machine they gave me (for which I'm grateful) is obsolete. They should have delivered a boatload of 'em, as the price was decent for what it was and they advertised a lot. Where are the wild machines? I've seen about ten from members here, found ref to maybe ten more using google and other fora.

I would very much like to be wrong on this. I WANT AMT to be a good outfit.

I made a great discovery. WHILE I think Phinneaus guages intentions are in the right place, least initially he has gotten way off track and all Alex Jones on this thread. But its amazing how the tone of the thread changes when clicking the ignore button changes this thread. Least for me. If I got scammed then its my own damn fault for not listening. BUT so far I havent gotten the impression they are looking to scam us. THey are just late and not communicating as well as they should.

Are you in reference to Mt Gox? Everything was cool there till the end. Same with InstaWallet. Want me to name a couple dozen more? Hell, Trade Hill did it three times.

And, how is it that you and Joshua Zipkin continue to make the same grammatical errors? Is it a New York thing, Josh also living there a spell, or a Penn State thing? I guess it must be tuff to penn shit when one's waisted (as a Bulgarian would pen it).

Shit. We're talking PA. They can't even SPEAK english, let alone write it. It took me a year to figure out what the hell most of 'em were talking about, as they say like half the word in an "accent" like they got a dick in their mouth. When they do use real words they use 'em wrong. Like "Jumbo". Take a guess what that means in pennsylvanian.

FYI, Kennywood's open! Don't want nobody donning a babushka espying your jagger.   Shocked
Cheesy Clearly you've been there!
2472  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: March 08, 2014, 09:54:10 PM
That's not true. A corporation can be registered just about anywhere within the States and be valid. All they would need in PA is occupancy permits in the name of the corporate entity.

You're confusing "registered" with "incorporated". Yes, they can incorporate in any state, but before they start doing business in another state, they are a foreign corporation and need to register with the state. This is especially important for a state with a sales tax, like PA. I'm sure the city they are doing business in also requires them to obtain a business license.

Feel free to read over some of the legalese:

http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/LI/consCheck.cfm?txtType=HTM&ttl=15&div=0&chpt=41

Quote
A foreign business corporation, before doing business in this Commonwealth, shall procure a certificate of authority to do so from the Department of State

Even worse, AMT is doing business under someone else's name.

https://www.corporations.state.pa.us/corp/soskb/Corp.asp?868855

Gotcha. Misunderstood what you were saying.

I spoke to Chris for a total of around 40 mins a couple of days ago. He was very professional, very knowledgeable and answered everything I asked. I also emailed and received a response right away.

I felt very comfortable after speaking with him (could be that soothing British accent though) and was pushed over to the side of legitimate.

I have ordered 6 x Enigma-1 machines by wire transfer. Order #50.

Here we go now, this is where faith is required. I don't think April can come fast enough for me. This is my entire savings and I really want it to work out.

Why would anyone put their entire savings into mining? Please tell me this is a joke?Sad

Ah, I see. So you and I and everyone else here knows that "pickaxepete" is a troll? I am glad we agree.
Ummm, I'm a little confused. Perhaps it's that I am new to this forum. Perhaps it is that I do not spend a lot of time in forums. But can someone please clarify why I am being labeled a TROLL?

What exactly is it that I have done wrong to deserve a bashing in here?

When all I have done is describe my brief experience thus far and my purchase of mining equipment.

I find it offensive to be attacked when I have not intentionally done anything wrong, nor have I insulted anyone on this forum.

Whether you or anyone else agree with spending money for something unproven is your opinion and you are entitled to that.

I am not a child, I am 45 years old. I have made numerous investments in the past, some have worked out and some have not. Altogether I have have racked up a total of approximately $250,000 in losses, my investment wins have been greater.

If I choose to put the last of my current money - my savings - into a potentially risky venture then that is my decision and should be respected as such. I have made no suggestion that anyone else do the same. I have made no suggestion that anyone spend even a single dollar in anything. I have only mentioned what I have done.

If my decision bothers anyone then that is unfortunate, but it is my decision and I hope you can appreciate that aspect of the situation.

Being new to this forum does not make me new to computers, to the internet, to investing, to life.

Cheers.

Well put. Like I said earlier, the newbie bashing gets WAY out of hand on this forum.

Sounds like you've used your 45 years a little better than I have Cheesy

Awww I've been missing Phinn and his special brand of wacky. Good to see ya back brother.

I'm not making excuses, but the 2008 date of graduation could have been with a second degree or even a masters. Considering you can complete a masters in that time frame. Not by any means a definite.

I forgot to take maps 101, my school didn't offer it. I did take geography, which was fairly easy. But if you are talking about cartography you can count me out.

Worst part about the Army was Land Nav. I think that was because the course was way overgrow and the markers were all jacked up. Throwing grenades was fun though.

Special brand of whacky repeating that Joshua Zipkin lied when he said that Harrison was just a friend of the founder of AMT prior to it being revealed that Josh was the founder of AMT. BTW, he lied twice twice about it, whereupon I called him out and proved it to all.

I repeat, Joshua Zipkin is not in the US, but in Bulgaria, ergo AMT is a Bulgarian company that only uses an American address, just like he did with that Nashville charity concern of his, going as far as stating that he was born in Nashville.

Now, prove this wacko--ME--wrong.
Well, he did say Family Friend... could be both, right? Cheesy Or perhaps he add an "r", and it's Family Fiend?

Dammit, I can't twist words properly sober. Ship me Matt's bong, willya?

Boy, you really must have been drunk. It's a hookah, bud (as in bud hookah).  Grin

Worse, I was (and am) dead sober. However, Hookah's are for company. I'm sure a hookah smoker has a bong.
2476  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: March 08, 2014, 09:10:24 PM
Our company is registered in Delaware, not Pennsylvania, it was registered on May 29th, 2013.  Its head office is located at 355 Lancaster Ave, Haverford, PA 19041 - These are two separate entities and don't have anything to do with each other from a legal perspective.

Why are you not registered in PA? It is illegal to conduct business in a state without registering with the local/state government. Is this so that you can avoid paying state taxes?
That's not true. A corporation can be registered just about anywhere within the States and be valid. All they would need in PA is occupancy permits in the name of the corporate entity.
2477  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: March 08, 2014, 08:56:02 PM
Haven't been around these parts in a while, I see we're loosing faith in AMT?

Biomech - They gave you a free miner and asked for a video review good or bad, the video you gave was just awful. You're always supportive, what happened? You gave a review and backed a company that is producing miners. So they hit a few road bumps, you backed one of three companies in this country that produces mining hardware.

At least you didn't back a scam.

... and all three are failing to deliver. BFL I knew was shady. I don't see them as a scam, but they don't follow through on anything, really. They say one thing and do another. Cointerra was quite open about their problems. AMT keeps moving the goal posts.

Right now there are two vendors moving miners in-hand. asiabtc on these fora and Bitmain. Why is it "easier" for a chinese company to do the job than an American one?
2478  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: March 08, 2014, 10:26:13 AM
Research.
I know I do not have any credibility but this information is correct.

I think you were right to take it down, but do hold it for your own needs.

Part of me still wants to believe that AMT will get everything sorted and deliver.

But I've learned to listen to my gut over the years, and it says this is going to end badly.

Biomech,
I began losing faith in AMT when they stopped answering calls and were not posting here. But after doing some research, I truly have faith in AMT delivering. And I am not saying this in last hopes that I will get my miner. I do believe in them.

I hope you're right. I like the machine they sent me, but I feel a bit used. When I accepted the offer, I figured if they were giving a review unit away then they had to be either shipping or real close to it. Granted, it was a bitfury unit, but I found few credible reports of those in the wild either.

I feel like this episode is a stain on my reputation. Oh well, I never lied at least. And I do like the machine Tongue

Can you say that in another way I am not sure understand.
...
A socialist planned economy rejects the idea of inequality and the idea of intellectual property and perpetual growth, land ownership and servitude?
I personally support RBE which from the political economy spectrum can be classified as a form of socialist planned economy (however it is completely different from Stalin/Mao version).
If you have studied The Venus Project ideas you should know that the variant I have quoted above is true.

It has been a very long time since I read anything on the Venus project. At the time, it looked even more tyrannical than Soviet communism. But I'll have another look.

However, top down planning really only works in programming. Central planning of human economies has a proven track record going on for millennia. It hasn't worked once.

It won't this time either. For socialism to work requires that we become something other than human. I am opposed to that. This is what the ultimate form of socialism looks like.
