just don't be like that one kid who received $700,000 from his dead parents.. half was supposed to be for him, other half for his sister. he blew 400k from buying BTC high and selling low. and then decided not to give his sister her fair share.. piece of scum.

it's fair game to them. they also have their own interests to protect; they don't want money leaving their country too.

imo, hollywood productions usually come out with material for the lowest common denominator.. since it's what gets people the most money. i like the more independent films that get to be more creative.
another movie i like is "jeff who lives at home."
I really liked that, but I thought it'd've been more poignant / better if Jeff died at the end. well aren't you a sweetheart.

seems like computer technology has slowed down significantly. if you bought a mid level computer 2 years ago, it's still very much serviceable today.
Slowed down? Not really. Try using that computer on a UHD monitor. certain sectors have. CPUs are improving, but not nearly at the same rate they were say.. 10 years ago. it's getting closer and closer to the plateau. RAM has been getting cheaper, but DDR3's been around for a while. SSDs are the new thiing, but imo not quite worth it yet. top of the line video cards from 3 years ago are still usable today. i remember buying a geforce 1 in 2000 and it didn't last me very long.

i felt cloud atlas didn't connect the stories very well.. but i did like futuristic south korea.
Mixed reviews throughout this thread on Cloud Atlas...I still haven't seen it yet..haven't had enough time to set aside yeah, it's not THAT great. i feel ambivalent about it myself. i liked it but didn't like it at the same time. if you like movies about reincarnation, though, maybe consider watching "the fountain" with hugh jackman.

lol, this thread is ridiculously hilarious. "i use technical analysis. here's how i did it. i used technical analysis. i was totally right the last time when it dropped from $1,000." yes, i will take financial advice from an armchair investing expert.

Can AMD ever beat Intel ?
Who cares? people with a lot of money do. even people without money like me do too. who, as a consumer, like it when one guy dominates the entire market?

Karma is just another primitive anti-intellectual superstition. My $.02. I disagree with this. Karma is most often (mistakeably) interchanged with the phrase "what goes around comes around." I believe this is incorrect. Karma is just another word for "cause and effect." If I'm walking down the sidewalk and decide to randomly punch some stranger, karma doesn't imply that I, too, will be punched at some point, nor does it mean that I will necessarily face any legal repercussions. But, *some* effect is bound to happen. For example, the fact that I decided to randomly punch someone suggests that I'm carrying around some type of negative thoughts/emotions/feelings, etc. Punching someone will both 1) reinforce these negative thoughts/emotions/feelings, and 2) will make it more probable that I will act aggressively towards someone in the future. Both of these effects are negative consequences that I will endure, and accordingly I will have to deal with the resulting stress that comes from having angry thoughts/feelings or aggressive intentions. yep. i believe in karma.. but there is no empirical evidence of it. i just believe that the universe functions like a clockwork, and it's all based on cause and effect. also see: the observer effect.. while it doesn't concretely prove anything outside of the fact that you can affect reality (on a quantum mechanics level), it does more to support the fact that your thinking and mind affect your physical reality than it does to go against that belief.

Karma is just another primitive anti-intellectual superstition. My $.02. it can't be proven or disproven though. i would like to believe that there is some sort of universal order admist the chaos though. There are two. Mathematics and physics. My $.02. how do math and physics disprove anything? if we knew everything about physics and math, and it suggested that everything was completely entropic.. then yes. but it does not suggest that. see chaos theory.

i don't think i've ever bought any apple product for personal use.. and i will never. their business practices go against what i believe.

i like to fantasize about myself being a cult leader.. basically "you, take off your shirt. you, bend over." and if a guy is in the group, i'd kick him out unless he was able to tithe 50% of his income.

how do you guys feel about them doxxing satoshi? i kind of don't like it - the guy obviously didn't want the spotlight on him.
if some journalist for a website can figure out his identity, don't you think the government has already?
