2761  Other / Meta / Report to Moderator - Database error on: October 06, 2018, 10:07:12 PM
Hey just making my rounds through a few megathreads and I can't report them.

I keep getting a Database error. Sending theymos a PM, but maybe he sees this first. Only because it says report to administrator.

Anyone else having this issue?

2762  Other / Meta / Re: stolen bitcointalk account on: October 06, 2018, 09:53:30 PM
Since you have the Email used to open the account. i think it is very easy to recover your account. why not go for Password Reset using the Email address in your account.

It's not that easy to recover a hacked account. They generally change the email and password, that way the original owner can't do anything but follow the previously mentioned procedure.

After then, you can add more security in your account like Email notification when you log into your account.

This option does not exist, you just have to be careful with the security of your account.
2763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Doubt the latest ICO on: October 06, 2018, 07:42:13 PM
What does this have to do with the forum... I ask because it appears the alt coin discussion spam seems to be spilling over.

Please move this to beginners and help or altcoin discussion, or just lock it and trash it. You can post in one of a 1000 other threads, along the same lines.
2764  Other / Meta / Re: Need Your Help on: October 06, 2018, 05:42:57 PM
Plagiarism isn't work. Not sure how that factors into this.

The point of the appeal is if you feel you were wrongly banned, you show all the evidence needed for your ban to stick. So you will no longer be able to post on the forum with any account.
2765  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin discussion is back on: October 06, 2018, 05:38:30 PM
I enjoy going checking out freshly started topics there from time to time. The problem is they tend to attract a lot of shit very quickly; if the topic is decent you might get 2 pages worth reading out of it.

For a while when I'm in there I report topics to be locked, generally anything over 10 pages if the last 2 pages are just repetitive, and still quoting the OP. If it's within the last week or so I try to report shitposts to, in hopes of them not being rewarded.
2766  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 hashboard showing up correct but with 0 hashrate on: October 06, 2018, 03:56:19 PM
It is a miner I got in return after repair. The old miner had 2 faulty boards. I got some compensation from bitmain for the failed repair. I dont want to send it in again since it hashes on 2 boards and shipping will be too expensive to be reasonable.

I switched the port and the cable. Its definitely the hashboard.

Sucks to get an RMA back and still have the same issue, well half anyways.

Just running the 2 boards is definitely your best option right now. Any extra in shipping or specialty tools will just hurt your ROI now. Glad to hear they at least compensated you in some way.

You might be able to sell/donate the dead board for a couple bucks to someone who may want to salvage usable components. There's people looking in the marketplace from time to time.
2767  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Antminer S9 lot of 80+ [CANADA] on: October 06, 2018, 03:17:18 PM
Just wondering if this is related to this very similar thread posted by another "frank".

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5040193.0

Only asking because of the location "Montreal". If not you could reach out to the buyer there who is wanting escrow but it wasn't available, as you are offering escrow accepted.

If not any chance you can post pictures/proof of the miners. Here are some guidelines for [WTS]
2768  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BitCounter V1 on: October 06, 2018, 02:59:23 PM
So I'm giving a bit of leeway here because as stated this is a garage assembled miner. The photos will do you no favours as hagss pointed out while I'm typing.

Honestly, it doesn't look like so honest.
It's just an empty pc case.
**POSSIBLY A SCAM ATTEMPT UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE**

I know you said in there you are still waiting for the hashboards to assemble the miner, but I'd expect you to have photos, or at least a page with photos and a description of the boards/process getting them made.

Edit: Also a description of the chips being used and how many would also go along way in the miner description.

You and your partner should post your photos on the site, you are after all looking for investomers.

Now assuming the hardware is real, can you give details on the PSU as it states 2000W, for a machine stating 1850W usage with a 10% variance
2769  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 hashboard showing up correct but with 0 hashrate on: October 06, 2018, 02:35:31 PM
When you say switched cables - Did you switch the ribbon cable from the hashboard to the control board? This could help identify if it is indeed the board or something else, possible the cable even.

Is this a new miner, used miner??
2770  Economy / Reputation / Re: Confession - Zapo=aTriz. on: October 06, 2018, 02:11:56 PM
Well thanks for taking the time to fill in the gaps for me.

I must say I'm surprised that you ever sent along your private key to anyone. I can see why you made this extreme error in judgement considering you were making attempts to repay a defrauded investor.

You have the right to make your own decisions regarding repayment and what you feel is right. Taking the hurt feelings out of the equation though, despite them (assuming all connections made are accurate and true) snakey/pinkman12345 lightening your wallet for you; they did not steal above and beyond what you originally said you would pay back. Which I still feel was a big move, and owning responsibility for your lack of due diligence. *

All I can say is that I don't distrust you. I also wouldn't fully trust in anything you are apart of... there are very few people whom I would. I feel I've met your type before in that the details can get lost in the shuffle and that at times you are trying to handle to much; again maybe that's a product of how your spring turned out. Apart from the forum I don't know what you've been through, but there are definitely things that you dropped the ball on here that compounded your problems. Moving forward, try acting like the newbie you came back as for these 2 main points.

Escrow your funds - While it doesn't build your trust of holding funds and distributing them, it shows your willing to do the work with out the potential of funds missing. This could have been useful in the cases of tokens going missing, and in light of it being shown you trusted the wrong person with your private keys so recently put others at ease. Ensuring your employers provide these funds at the beginning of a round will also make it smoother if/when they want to cut payouts down, this way you can pay everyone on time and keep things transparent.

Feedback - It's tough to go back a few months and say this is how things went down when we have a system in place to document and track scams/or other untrustworthy behavior. I feel you should have done this with the whole Pinkman/Snakey. Might have even prevented others from getting ripped off as you appear to have been the first under the Pinkman banner. You could have also tied the alts together if the proof holds up to scrutiny.

Good luck, with your endeavors. I do believe you can come back from this just take your time, and when in doubt maybe think " If I post this on the forum for all to see... will I be run out of town?"

Glad to see you are providing information going forward for those trying to recoup their default loans from Pinkman.

* Adding to the above, if you do plan to move forward with reimbursement to meet the originally agreed upon total. I don't see an issue with having this hashed out between you, Snakey/Pinkam, and the 2 lenders who have outstanding defaulted loans before any distribution of funds takes place. This all assumes the proof of alts is definitive, conversation is all open and above board between the 5/4 parties. Not my money just my thoughts.

I'm sorry if I didn't make my last post clear enough. At night, running one hash board of an S9, I average 4THs. During the day, I get close to 200 GHs average on USB miners. The AVERAGE daily hash rate and my Shift Graph is barely above 2THs. I suspect with this setup alone I will not be above dust levels for much longer, given the rising difficulty.

And thank you again for all the nice folks who have helped me out here.

You'll be fine. It's not so much the rising difficulty that will knock you below the dust threshold, it's the pool hashrate. The network difficulty would reduce how often we would find a block if the pool hashrate stays the same.

That being said the rising difficulty does encourage members to increase their hashrate, so indirectly it would have an effect.

At least for know you can expect some payments... Once we get back to cracking blocks. Mine on.

I had read that thread back when I was reading up on the controversies of the time. It doesn't really tell the whole story though. Whether this was an oversight on your part trying to move on from the Atriz brand at the time or not; but there is no accusation or proof on your part they did anything wrong. I don't even see any feedback from any of your accounts

I obviously don't know the details, but given the current situation (see below), it might have been a good idea to have aired the dirty laundry and had pinkman tagged. Assuming the reason you have for not paying them was NEG worthy. All I can find is the positive feedback you left pinkman that is still positive but has (delete) at the end of it.

I may not have been clear in the previous post. Not trying to beat a dead horse but care to share any details that resulted in you being back stabbed.  Provide as much or as little extra info as you wish, but my interest is whether or not repayment not continuing is justified.

I would also suggest that the more questions you do answer, the less information you should leave out. It may help in avoiding situations like this where maybe you aren't managing a campaign or bounty for them, but you are involved with them, as a contracted employee to say the least.

I am not involved with jamal. He offered me a job, so I checked the telegram group, but I haven't made a decision yet.

I'd recommend you to not involve payment issues from Jamal, over to me. All of the ICO's you've listed have exit scammed, blocked me, or I've done the work for them (final sheet). I don't see how I'm lying/deceiving here.

You cannot say you are not involved with someone and that you think about making a decision on a job offer they made you WHEN:

*snip*

The work he gave for me managing spreadsheets was work I asked for, so I can make some income. I don't see how managing a couple spreadsheet means that I'm his right man.

2773  Other / Meta / Re: [Guide] Reporting effectively on: October 05, 2018, 11:49:10 PM

I want to clear about one thing, copy paste own post will consider plagiarism or only spam ? I have seen few user just copy paste same post all over forum. Although I send PM to moderator , but I want to know clearly.
Note : moderators has taken action those profile are report by pm.
More than likely spam.

For some reason I seem to think this came up in a ban appeals thread. I think they were treating it like any other copy/paste... now if there weren't a thousand of those threads I might be able to find it.

I was wondering do any Mods deal with Meta at all. I say this because the odd time I report a multiposter, usually giving them the chance to correct it themselves. If they don't these sometimes just get added to the unhandled section. I don't really care about the stats; just wondering if I should bother reporting these in Meta
2774  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 and APW CSA and UL certification on: October 05, 2018, 11:44:25 PM
That's very bad news... Anyone here in Canada that had run into this problem with city/utility inspectors asking for CSA certificates?

No not at all. I'm wondering how you wound up in that scenario. Even when getting an electrical permit the install is the only thing my province is concerned with. Now if you are setting up a facility using MW as opposed to KW there may be more questions.

Best bit of advice I can give you is just let them know what you need supply wise, don't over divulge what you are running. Hope you got the permit.
2775  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: October 05, 2018, 10:49:20 PM
Just ran into this lovely fellow.

I believe this is one of the best post have ever made on this forum but no one has really given any merit so far and it's really not encouraging to other users, I believe I should be getting like 50merit on this one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5044423.msg46540318#msg46540318

It's even better when you 1)See how long it's been without receiving a merit. 2) Look into where their first merit came from. Then you remember that one merit for a signature does not do enough.

2776  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: October 05, 2018, 10:40:58 PM

What a load of horseshit. Oh my this generic, dribble hasn't received any merit in 9 hours oh my... Wish I had 50 to throw away before giving that even 1.

I probably wouldn't have tore it down so much if you weren't being a sniveling merit whiner. That has been discussed numerous times on the forum; hope you didn't really believe that was original in any sense. Try searching a little more.
2777  Other / Meta / Re: Is this not really paid bumping and encourage for spamming ? on: October 05, 2018, 10:32:33 PM
Seems like a bit of a grey area. If I understand it right they are rewarding them on their platform, using the usernames from their site (not the forums) I'm guessing it tracks the 30 ads there. This would be the part that may be considered against the rules.

As for the second part it is a giveaway of sorts, not everyone receives a reward. This is also done off-site, but requires the entry here.

My guess would be that if it's permitted it has something to do with it being in games and rounds as opposed to say Altcoin announcements or say a service announcement.

Dug a few posts in and I see this:

*snip*

You have to move the following, to your website instead (perhaps a special section for it):

  • -  Surf At least 30 Ads everyday and post your username here, We will give 100 Satoshi Bonus in your balance
  • -  Post about your daily earnings here, 1 user will randomly get 1000 Satoshi In their balance

Their response was this:

Hey SFR10,
*snip*
Quote
Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

The incentive is not given for posting anything. Incentive is given for participating in site and confirming it here. We are just promoting our site activities, not bitcointalk activities. I hope it clears.

Best regards.
2778  Other / Meta / Re: @Theymos @hilariousandco can you reconsider on permabans Rules ? on: October 05, 2018, 05:53:32 PM
In regards to your "mistakes" I'm guessing you mean plagiarism.

For less serious offences there are varying lengths in Bans, which can act as warnings. Many older members have been hit by those and have had to learn from that. What they didn't do was steal someone else intellectual property and pass it off as their own.

The only people here trying to get these bans reduced or removed are just going to fill the boards with spammy shitposts, and when they need to look like they are trying to get out of jr. status they'll plagiarize. Not to mention there is no "accidentally" doing this. If you copy/paste a portion or entire article, you are more than capable of doing the same for the source.

Edit: Guess everyone figured out the "mistake"
2779  Economy / Reputation / Re: Confession - Zapo=aTriz. on: October 05, 2018, 05:24:04 PM
This is the "loan" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3253973.0
I promised to pay him back, but after I found he was pinkman (who was my friend at the time) and then he backstabbed me.

I had read that thread back when I was reading up on the controversies of the time. It doesn't really tell the whole story though. I know and used to like pinkman12345 very well, and we worked together a lot,
Hi Zapo/aTriz ( Smiley) I understand that you said you used to know pinkman12345 however I am just wondering if you can help me to provide some information which will help me to bring back my 0.2BTC and other guys 0.25BTC? I hope you remember the telegram chat we has few days ago. Thanks mate for your understanding.
Yes, please check telegram. I'll tell you everything I know about him.

Thank you for your input people.

Moving forward can you provide the information now so that anyone who has tagged Pinkman12345 can also go and tag the snakey account. We wouldn't want to leave any loose ends out there.

No one really gets second chances around the forum? Ask every account that has been tagged by the DT who was begging for the second chances? Why special privileges for the accused here? @Pharmacist - You are actively tagging alt the alt-accounts and account sellers in the forum, why haven't you left your tag here when the case is clearly to be of owning multiple accounts, scamming and other stuff. This isn't a rational judgement. If you think he deserves a second chance, why not all those accounts who have been tagged by you don't?

I feel like we've all been using the second chance thing improperly, myself included. No one gave a second chance; the closest would be Loyce not exposing Zapo - but still keeping tabs on the user and account (this was fair IMO). What has happened is an Alt account was used to try and shed the glaring RED trust that had essentially nuked a previously trustworthy user. Zaptriz has been tagged, and that's good. Not that I feel they are 100% untrustworthy, but that a record of members and how they have interacted and behaved on this forum should follow them and be visible. This way we can tell if they have changed for better or worse.

When you bring up The Pharmacist if you check the Atriz trust profile you can see that while he was not personally burned the feedback went from green to neutral to reflect the changing times. There are actually quite a few people being given second chances if you consider marlbaroza's feedback for promoting scam ICO's. They are giving members the opportunity to repeal the harm they have caused and be made whole again. Like I said there is no second chance here; it's more of a long standing service provider falling short, and having to deal with that while moving forward. This brings clashing opinions between past and present.

For there to be a true second chance example there would need to have been a license or some permission granted to a select few to manage campaigns; this having been revoked, and then granted again. There is no such thing anyone no matter there trust score can manage a campaign. People will join any campaign regardless of who runs it, just look at the 2 started by a "newbie", of which one actually provided second chances to a couple red trust members.

I can understand why Zaptriz went this route they are trying to provide a service to clients outside of this forum, using the forum as a platform for this. Most of his clients I'm assuming would want the manager to be a neutral or nice shiny green color but that was likely never going to happen without going this route. Assuming they did accurately portray the situations to their customers and they were okay with it, not much to be said they can hire who they like. I do feel like it was shady doing this to the members who would have joined your campaigns as they should have been given the same information, being essentially contractors.

Zaptriz - Just keep doing you. Again just some advice take it or leave it. No more alts, just ride it out and try and earn back some of that 2017 reputation. Escrow and transparency are always advisable. Try not to leave any loose ends out there, it may burn someone else down the road.

EDIT for clarity - Zaptriz does not exist but I like the way it sounds, I'm sure most will get this but I'm sure some will not.
2780  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How about a solar power source for pop one price mining on: October 05, 2018, 02:26:17 PM
I've been reading through this thread, mostly because I wish I could be running with a Solar set up at the moment. Maybe in time.

Without knowing the specifics of the contract, wording can be a bitch sometimes. Phils suggestion of a Lawyer may be the best course of action. Arguably if the average that should be produced is 65-70 KW per day, shouldn't a system having been in operation since April have been showing an average equal to or greater than those number to date??

I say that because summer should be the higher generation period with the average being dragged down through the Winter.

I'm curious about this blame the Asic approach, do they give any explanation for why they think that?
