3221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: British police seize $408 million and arrest woman aged 39 on: July 18, 2021, 04:48:07 PM
I agree that those who commit crimes such as money laundering should be arrested and given a punishment commensurate with their actions. I also want people on this forum to do good, not do something criminal that can harm other people.

Unfortunately, this is one of those instances where crimes that are related to cryptocurrencies contribute to its overall stigma, in which it influences the decision in attracting new investors.

This woman committed money laundering and other similar crimes as well. She deserves to be put behind bars since she committed acts which are against the laws of the State. No matter what happens, even if cryptocurrencies do have anonymity, if you use it for any other purpose that is contrary to law, you bear all the necessary consequences attached to it.
3222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: signs of gambling addiction on: July 18, 2021, 02:13:58 PM
I have heard of such stories in the past from fellow gamblers and former gamblers when I was in church before and our pastor talked about gambling. Anyway based on those stories I have heard from testimonials from other people, what attracts them to continue pouring money in the game is when they win and they were able to win so much that they continue to play and they do not have the urge to stop and gamble for another day. It is sad if you think about it.

The signs of gambling addition vary from every individual as its manifestations are also different depending on their respective circumstances.

Generally, people who suffer from gambling addiction exhaust almost of their resources into gambling. They also tend to have a poor hygiene, health, and lifestyle since their priority is to gamble away. I have personally seen people who suffer from gambling addiction in casinos. You can clearly observe that they tend to be very nervous and stressed at the same time.

I remember watching someone bet like $2,000 on the roulette and he lost. After that, he just went outside and started selling his watch to a random stranger (which turned out to be my friend) for a very cheap price.
3223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Past two months bitcoin journey on: July 18, 2021, 10:49:48 AM
Very interesting breakdown of your weekly investments in purchasing bitcoin.

To be honest, newbie investors should follow or at least consider your method if ever they decided to invest or acquire some BTCs for either short/long-term basis. It is very straight-forward and easy to comprehend. In addition, I also thought of investing but I never truly attempted to do such but seeing actual results (like the one you made) makes me realize that the potential in earning profit on long-term investment is relatively high.

Keep up the good work and also, keep this thread updated!
3224  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Spontaneous new in the Forum on: July 18, 2021, 08:59:05 AM
Okay I got it Thanks both of you especially to @Mk4 I know about the rules and regulations about this forum and also @Shamm I know about ranking up.

The best way to know on how the forum works is through reading the rules and regulations posted on every board. Be sure to avoid any spams and repeatable topics that have been discussed already.

Welcome to the forum and I do hope you enjoy your stay! Everything that you need to know about cryptocurrencies are MOST LIKELY been discussed. Don't forget to utilize the search bar since it is a very powerful tool that is often took granted by most newbies.
3225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: July 18, 2021, 06:19:53 AM
Russell is a british driver, driving for a not so good car (probably second worst car) and the race is on silverstone with nearly all british fans. It was expected that they would cheer for Hamilton, but to cheer for Russell wasn't really a weird situation neither, it is basically a given. However dude finished like 8th or something with the second worst car, by calculation the average expected of him is 17th, why? Because the other car is latifi at 18th and then worst cars 19th mick and 20th mazepin.

Anything above that shows that dude is doing better than expected for the car he is given. However I have to say Williams is a great qualifying car, it is not as good of a race car. I feel like dude will hang tight in silverstone for a few laps at the best but I do not think that he will be racing for too long at those positions, he will once again be lower than points positions.

I very much agree with this statement.

Russell is just magical. The fact that he finished within the top 10 with a less-superior car shows his raw talent and skill on the racing field. I am kinda doubtful as to whether he should stay in Williams or to go to another team with a champion-contender car. I really do think that he'll have an opportunity soon to prove that he can definitely stay at the podium.

3226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: July 17, 2021, 04:01:21 AM
Upon watching the qualifying rounds for the British Grand Prix, I was very happy to see Russell qualify within the top 10. It was very magical and fulfilling to hear the crowd roar upon Russel's qualification in his spot!

Even with the oversteer made by Hamilton, he still managed to take the number 1 spot just a few milliseconds away of Verstappen snatching his victory. We could see that in Hamilton's performance, he is really hungry to win another title!

3227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nigerian government changing the state of lotteries on: July 17, 2021, 01:36:50 AM
Is this unexplored in Nigeria?

Upon searching for a couple of minutes, it seems that it's legal and illegal there. It's not that well-regulated, and some officials want something out of it hence, corruption. With the increasing gambling activity within them, upon reading the article linked in the reference section, they are getting more regulations that are not bad compared to doing nothing.

I hope with all the complex activities with this in their country, there would be no consequences towards the action of people if they had a rough day or something with all the gambling they had.

I do hope that this unexplored territory becomes regulated tightly by the government since the revenue earned through gambling/lottery activities is substantial.

In the Philippines, our own government-controlled gambling activity called PAGCOR (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation) brings the government the highest revenue yearly. The potential of Nigeria earning through their lottery system can bring significant changes and improvement to their financials and expenditure.
3228  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should I sell or hold on my bitcoin? on: July 16, 2021, 03:54:34 PM
I think if one is going to sell it's prudent to do so when the price is at a peak, not like it is now - at a bottom.

This is the general rule that it is easier said than done.

Like in stocks, there are certain indicators that will help you arrive at a decision whether to sell/purchase more BTCs in the process. But before you arrive at a decision, always be definite. Only purchase BTCs that you are willing to lose in the process. You can also sell 60% of your BTCs the moment you arrive at profit and keep the remaining 40% for long-term investment.

3229  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to grow into a hero and legendary member? on: July 16, 2021, 03:22:08 PM
In reality, there is no easy way in becoming a hero/legendary member in the forum. If there is an easy formula for this, then most of us would become a hero/legendary member. The only way is to remove the mindset of ranking up and convert it into contributing something useful in the forum.

Look for alternatives and ways in helping building this forum as a whole. The more you rush this process, the more that you would be frustrated in expecting results. Just take your time and enjoy your time in the forum. Try your very best to contribute something useful in the forum and merits would be the one chasing for you.
3230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr - August 21 on: July 16, 2021, 08:21:27 AM

In any case, Manny being the underdog is good for us.

I think Manny will remain an underdog even on the actual fight, lots of Americans will bet on Spence as he is the younger and the bigger guy, and champion as well. We believe in our countryman and since he is a "pambansang kamao",  we should support him no matter what.

I am so excited for this fight man. As someone who really grew up watching at least most of his fights, it is such a privilege to witness the People's Champ back in the ring with his age not hindering him from fighting the very best from his weigh division.

Do you guys have an idea about the pay-per-view setup on his match? I've been trying to look for the pricing but there seems to be no updates on how to watch the fight. I am pretty sure that I'm going to bet hard on this fight for Manny!
3231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What does it take for a game to "hook" people on: July 15, 2021, 11:44:42 PM
What do these games have to have for you?
For me its a must that the game is not boring, easy to play and of course there's a chance to win. The fact that you can double your money in snap is attractive because its effortless though not easy (we all know most games are based on luck). Crypto casinos became popular especially during lockdown as an alternative to satisfy ourselves. I think the good thing about playing online is the convenience that even we're lying in the bed, we can still access the game as long as we have a gadget.

I think it is all about the overall experience as a whole. Of course, the experience varies between an online casino vs a physical one but it all boils down on one's preference.

Personally, what got me 'hooked' into gambling was the nature of the gambling from the very start. The game that I played involved in-game skins (Dota 2) where you can bet them and from there, my inner addiction to gambling awoken. In addition to what you have mentioned, the interface of the gambling website plays a vital role into hooking people especially if it is easier to navigate in the website.
3232  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you know if someone left you Bitcoin after death? on: July 15, 2021, 11:34:19 PM
Bitcoin keys and passwords are kept secret hid away from everyone else. If you forget the keys you can no longer access your wallet. We have learnt this and take the precautions to ensure it does not happen. But what happens to the Bitcoin if the owner of the wallet dies. Is there a way to transfer bitcoins to next of kin and how will the potential heir know?

This is actually one of the problems with one's private keys if you kept it in total privacy. Your heirs will not be able to claim your remaining BTCs if you do not share it with them.

If you plan on saving your BTCs for the next generation of the family, I highly suggest that you put your private keys in a special document, tightly sealed and secured so that your family members would be able to claim it in the future. Of course, I also understand that this puts you in potential risks of leaking your private key but this is actually the only way in order to prevent your BTCs from losing forever.
3233  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor and middle class as a mentality on: July 15, 2021, 01:30:39 PM
I find it very interesting that people who live in first-world countries can take any job that they want. They can pursue any job and at the same time follow their dreams. Whereas, people who live in third-world countries are forced to take at least any job in order to alleviate their situation from poverty.

Although the statement that I mentioned above is not absolute, the mindset of the rich varies greatly from the poor especially when we talk about opportunities.

Ultimately if the government of the country will not try to nurture the citizen in terms of health and finance, it all depends on an individual who could break the invisible chain and not sell themselves short. Get rich or die trying.

Parents I guess have to teach their kids with pride so they could look at themselves morally high and strive for success. My parents are fishermen, always teach me not to steal and teach us how to catch fish by ourselves. So if I have something to buy, I will have to work hard for it. Catching more fish and then sell for money.

The government plays an important role in the well-being of its citizens. It also greatly depends upon the opportunities that the government can possibly provide in order to address the issues surrounding the country. But, if the government is corrupt, then it is upon the individual on how he can alleviate himself from poverty.
3234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Taxes on gambling send the right message? on: July 15, 2021, 10:24:46 AM
Like what I previously mentioned in similar topics like these, the power to tax includes the power to destroy. If the tax implemented by the government is higher than the usual rate, then it implies that the government is trying to convince other establishments to avoid creating businesses like this.

There are, however, certain gambling casinos that the government allows. In the Philippines, there is what you call PAGCOR (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation) in which it is created by law. It enjoys certain benefits since it brings so much revenue to the government that allows the latter to create certain projects for the benefit of the country.
3235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your betting budget on: July 15, 2021, 01:40:00 AM
I kind o like feeling in control of my finances and that means controlling my spending and being very aware of what goes in and what goes out. I normally check my accounts every month and may make a few decisions on what to spend next month if things are not looking correct. One of the things I do is to set aside 10% of my income for things that I really do not need - expensive clothing, gadgets and electronics, books, games,... and part of that is gambling. For me, a reasonable gambling budget is 3 to 5% of my income, although I may allow more if I have some extraordinary income that month. How do you plan your gambling or fun budget?

I would like to commend you for having a detailed plan on your finances. The only struggle with this is being consistent with its execution as there may be cases where you tend to spend more on unexpected circumstances.

As I live in a third world country, every expense is essentially painful. Due to this background as well, I am compelled to limit my actual spendings on my gambling activities since I would literally starve if I exhaust everything. Back when I used to gamble, I only bring $50 with me and that's it. Either I win or lose, I will not spend beyond the budget that I brought.
3236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sexy casinos on: July 14, 2021, 03:20:16 PM
What do you think of sexy casinos? Do you think it's a good thing? Have you ever tried any? What is your favorite one?

I am somehow confused with this so called 'sexy casino'. Can you please elaborate on the subject further? Does this pertain to a casino that is designed around sexy/seductive people or is it a type of casino that has these 'sexy games'?

Nonetheless, any casino that contains sexy images may attract some gamblers but I do see a potential risk here especially if gets out of control. If one were to implement a sexy casino, security must be tight as these workers may be prone to disrespect.
3237  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2,371 people abducted in Nigeria in first half of 2021 on: July 14, 2021, 12:33:00 PM
Between cash, gold, Bitcoin and Monero I think the first two are always going to be their currency of choice due to their physical existence. No matter how private one blockchain or another is, there is always the risk that the chain will be analyzed and privacy will dissolve through some flaws nobody has any idea about yet. I think it's time to finally understand that Bitcoin/Monero/cryptos in general aren't equal to terrorism or financial crimes.

Bitcoin's transparency is great in this case where bad actors are being revealed and tracked down, but the worst part is that if someone who tries to hide their tracks can be tracked down then almost any of us can be as well.

This is definitely true.

These abductors will demand physical cash as much as possible since they will not risk anything that can potentially infiltrate their location. Cash, on the other hand, is very liquid. One thing that I learned that anything that exist within the realms of the internet has the potential of knowing your location. Although difficult, there is that possibility that there are risk associated with online transactions that could leak their location.
3238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a gambler? on: July 14, 2021, 01:44:35 AM
There are a lot of people posting here. In most of threads related to sportsbetting, most user just discuss about the match, how player performed, how they could perform etc but very few person discuss about odds, chances of winning a team and other factors related to bet.
Is it possible that most people only discuss here to fulfill their signature requirement? In my case, I don’t play games at casino. I used to play back in the day but not anymore while I'm still having sportsbet on most of the matches.
Be honest and share about you whether you post only for your signature requirement or you post because you are involved in gambling & you want to know or share knowledge.

I used to accompany my brother in physical casinos pre-covid but he eventually stopped due to this online setting.

I also tried gambling (via dota2lounge.com skins) and lost tremendous amounts of money from 50/50 betting. Whenever there are discussions about gambling and addiction, I try to relate and have a meaningful discussion since I relatively have experience on such field. I also witnessed my brother winning/losing large amounts of cash in a single night due to his greediness and lack of self-discipline in his ventures.
3239  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merit hunting! on: July 14, 2021, 12:16:15 AM
You call it merit hunting, I call it merit baiting, and in my book, it's a bad thing to do, because it often results in spam and poor-quality posts. Newbies and even advanced members who look to rank up start thinking that they need to create "useful" posts and as the result they beat a dead horse by writing guides that have been written 1000 times before them, and they also introduce a ton of misconception because of their lack of deeper knowledge.

I agree with your statement.

The problem with most beginner accounts is that they are focused too much on ranking-up to the point that their post quality suffers from the process. They attempt to create guides that had been discussed by other veteran members in hopes of receiving a merit. I mean, while I do commend their effort, nonetheless, they must do it in a fashion that would be beneficial to the forum.

Ever since the merit system was introduced, lots of newbies are complaining about on how difficult it is to gain one.
3240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling or playing? on: July 13, 2021, 04:24:33 PM
While the idea is creative, this may pose potential problems with existing laws regarding gambling as it exposes such to minors.

Remember that most MMORPGs have a player-base composing of minors to adults. Implementing an in-game gambling system within the game would be contrary to law since minors would be involved in them at an early age. This is also the reason on why most games have problems with the "loot box" system where some laws force these game developers to publish the rates of acquiring rare-legendary items as it is concealed in the form of gambling.
