2241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which sports are you placing bets on? on: March 27, 2022, 02:52:45 PM
There are a lot of players around the world. Not every games are favorite in all region. Some likes soccer, some maybe esports or some cricket or others.
Which one are you mostly placing your bets on? Besides, do you think gambler don't care which sport it is. I have seen gambler who don't have any fucking idea about cricket but he used to bet on cricket.

As someone who grew up watching people playing video games and being surrounded by friends who also play, my gambling bets are heavily influenced on eSports. I can comfortably say that I have a relatively vast knowledge on some of the online games being betted on in some gambling websites, especially in Dota 2 and CSGO.

Again, you only bet on the things that you know and the stuff that you have knowledge on. If you bet on games or sports that you literally do not have any idea about the players, statistics, etc. then you are asking for some trouble or losses on your end.
2242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are there no altcoins that can replace Bitcoin? on: March 27, 2022, 01:56:48 PM
BTC is not only the first coin but it has symbolic value for the entire crypto market, one symbol of the blockchain revolution.
Just like gold, there are thousands of metals produced such as steel, aluminum, silver, etc., which are widely used in daily life. but gold has always been the most valuable metal, still number 1.
So there will be no altcoins that can replace BTC although ETH, Sol, Tron or Xrp... have utilities, applications and technologies that are far superior to BTC.

Remember that the creation of all altcoins was based on the foundation that Bitcoin built on this innovative transaction method. Though there are some altcoins which introduced some innovations and technology that may try to replace BTC as the reigning crypto, the latter is still far superior.

In addition, it all boils down to the price and usage of such. While there may be altcoins that have functions that Bitcoin does not have, the fact that people still utilize and purchase the latter means that its price and usage would continue to outgrow any altcoin/s in the market.
2243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chess online? on: March 27, 2022, 10:41:51 AM
Since there is no separate board for any chess related discussion on tournaments, I would start from here.

Congratulations for Magnus in winning the 2022 Charity Cup Meltwater Champions Chess Tour defeating Duda after two (2) days of playing. Duda was able to retaliate and snatch two wins which forced a tiebreaks but Magnus won the blitz. Props to Duda for defeating the current world champion in 26 moves but Magnus showed on why he is indeed the Chess Magician!

2244  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do i insert Images? on: March 27, 2022, 05:19:32 AM
How do i insert images within my post? Not a link to an image. I'm pressing the "insert image" button & assumed it would allow me to upload from computer. I also cannot copy/paste an image. All I get is IMG surrounded by brackets.

Personally, I would recommend using postimages.org website if you were to post any images in the forum. In addition, you must type it manually, for example:
Code:
[img]https://i.postimg.cc/NF9178fH/Screen-Shot-2022-03-27-at-1-17-25-PM.png[/img]

and that code should come out like this:

The reason on why I prefer postimages.org is that you can adjust its size on the website itself, though you can manually do it here.
2245  Economy / Reputation / Re: A scammer ? on: March 26, 2022, 11:59:15 PM
Scammers are too much to the extent of begging for money for different users, i believe that if the person using the account is not rightful owner of the account, begging is against the law of bitcointalk forum, i think the user deserve more flag as punishment, viewing the profile according to the link dropped here, user changed email recently.

He is very funny, I'm still thinking why should he expect money from forum users by begging just like that, if begging is what he does there are easy places outside the forum(streets) where begging to gain money will be easy. He should be aware that the forum is againt begging

When you are a scammer, you consider all means and methods of scamming. They will exhaust all the means in order to at least scam a person to take advantage of such unfortunate situation happening globally. Imagine, if he were to send that personal message to hundreds of forum users, there is no guarantee that everyone will ignore it- MAYBE there could be at least one forum user that would strike and start a conversation with him in which the latter would be compelled to donate money.

Again, ignore this kind of messages. Forum rules state that there should be no begging. You can also report him to the moderators so he could receive appropriate sanctions.
2246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Honduras to declare Bitcoin as a legal tender? on: March 26, 2022, 11:52:31 PM
It’s rumoured that an announcement will be made during the BTC conference in Miami which is in a few weeks. It was during the same event last year that Jack Mallers announced that El Salvador would be using BTC as legal tender via his Strike, Lightning app. I hope it happens any way, would be cool & another baby step on route to widespread, mainstream adoption.

It is truly fascinating to see where countries slowly adapt and realize the importance of having cryptocurrencies integrate into their financial system. Since these countries are starting to view BTC as legal tender, then its citizens can demand something be paid (as debt or as wage) using BTCs.

This will truly benefit BTC in the long-run given its inflationary value and nature. With this kind of development, we can expect its price to somehow increase in the following weeks given this kind of development. I hope more countries again would soon realize and follow this innovation!
2247  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tell people about bitcoin but don't force them to invest on: March 26, 2022, 05:36:50 PM
It will be nice to tell people about bitcoin,  but not to force/pressure them to invest , because if investing goes wrong sometimes it is funny to see the reactions of people when money is loss, the loss of money is a case that has ended many good friendship and misunderstanding between family members.

Any investment is definitely good especially if you plan on HODLing it long-term. Even investing into blue chip companies in stocks can yield you profitable results if you really plan on just HODLing them. But you are definitely right, forcing someone to invest into something may yield into catastrophic results especially if they do not know what they are investing on.

I remember back in the last quarter of 2017, the price of BTC skyrocketed from $5,000 to $18,000 in a matter of months. People were forced to invest and lots of threads were telling everyone to invest. After the first quarter of 2018, the price crashed and went down to around $3,000.

That is why, you can tell people your success stories on investing into cryptocurrencies but the final decision to invest should be theirs.
2248  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sign Up Bonuses on: March 26, 2022, 04:59:04 PM
It's not a must for the beginners that wants to gamble.

Sign up bonuses are really going to depend if they want to give some and to have it continued to attract more users.

If you're for the sign up bonuses, there are still conditions that has to be met. Well, you got to gamble that and there could be some newbies that might misunderstood these bonuses as if they can cash it out quickly even it's just $5 or $10.

Well in reality, these sign-up bonuses are not really "bonuses" per se since it is contingent upon a condition, like depositing a required minimum amount or submit KYC documents. While these so-called "bonuses" may look attractive, in reality, they are just phrases looking to attract more newbies to gamble to their websites.

I remember checking this gambling website because it claimed that it gives free $10 upon registration. Unfortunately after registering to their website, there is a required minimum deposit of BTC before I would be able to claim it.
2249  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there a place in the world you could live like a king via sig campaigns? on: March 25, 2022, 11:53:01 PM
As someone who currently lives in the Philippines, a third-world country, earning around $1500/week could make you like a millionaire in the country. You could purchase a comfortable condo unit within the heart of the city, get a brand-new car, and enjoy majority of all the high-end restaurants without worrying too much on your expenditures. You can even enrol your son/daughter in a high-quality university. Basically, you can almost live like a king if you have such purchasing power and income generated from such.

I guess this idea follows to all third-world countries in the world. Personally, if I were given the chance to participate in ChipMixer, I would just open a business and most likely live comfortably for the rest of my life.
2250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why offline casino go online? Thoughts? on: March 25, 2022, 04:54:30 PM
Do you think it's profitable for the casinos to go online at the moment since considering the amount of competition that there is and considering how many sites have shut down, even some old ones.

Whereas the traditional casinos continue to provide a sense of fun and adventure in the moment for most people. Therefore should the online casinos do extend their administration futher and go offline as well? What if most amazing crypto casinos went offline as well !? You think that would be a profitable industry?

Just to relate this with our current situation, it has been proven by most companies that their employees are more efficient in an online kind of setup. That is why, some companies have started to integrate this kind of idea, where they do not need to do onsite work- a WFH setup makes their job more efficient.

Same concept in gambling- it has been steadily proven that online gambling has been increasing its popularity due to the pandemic. Since lots of online gambling websites have resurfaced once again, this kind of trend may continue thereby slowly making physical casinos obsolete.
2251  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: March 25, 2022, 04:37:17 PM

I think it is advisable na if you were to transact p50,000 (and above), be ready with all the necessary documents (extra KYC, etc.) since they "might" ask additional questions regarding the transactions. I heard na there were some people na-hold daw yung funds nila awaiting for the confirmation of coins.ph before ma-release.

Preferably, pwede mo din siguro gawin is mag transact ka ng around p20,000 weekly if need mo talaga yung funds mo. In this way, siguro maiiwasan na din yung potential problems or delay sa payment mo in the event na nag-transact ka ng big amounts of cash.
2252  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptocurrency education in school's curriculum, good or needless? on: March 25, 2022, 02:39:45 PM
Personally adding a cryptocurrency subject in school will be tough for many students due to hard to learn, it's just like students get forced to take a college course. I'd say it's better the cryptocurrency subject for college on IT/computer major, a lot university already have it

Even if cryptocurrency is added to school curriculum I don't think if it will be compulsory to every student.  Economics which is one of the subjects in the school curriculum is not compulsory to all students,  students who sees it interesting go for it. No matter how tough cryptocurrency maybe it will still be a favourite subject to some students and cryptocurrency will not be a compulsory subject/course but  an elective one.

Instead of adding it as a compulsory subject, I think it would be better if it were added as an elective- where students will have the opportunity to take extra lessons from it or not. Thus, it should be integrated or somehow connected to an economics degree (or even as a general elective for all).

In the event that this cannot be followed, I personally think that it would be best if there would be various forums held by college universities be held regularly per semester. In this way, students would at least have a background/foundation about the roots of cryptocurrencies as this is something that is considered complex in nature.
2253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A month of WAR on: March 25, 2022, 02:31:30 PM

So many things happened within just a single month that can be affecting cryptocurrency in general and the recent announcement of the possibility that Russia may accept Bitcoin in exchange for its oil and gas is also worth noting though I am not sure if that one can fit within OP's one month window nevertheless it is a major news for Bitcoin as now  we see both Russia and Ukraine getting into cryptocurrency for different reasons. Now, the next few weeks may hold some surprises for all us who are into cryptocurrency and I am hoping things can be for good.

While the effects of war can be significantly devastating affecting almost all countries in the world, the silver lining here is that Ukraine is now accepting cryptocurrencies for its donation purposes. Not only that but it also sees the opportunity of accepting cryptocurrencies by legalizing its transactions in their country. Soon thereafter, countries would follow these footsteps and start integrating cryptocurrencies into their daily transactions.

I just hope that the war will soon end. Countless of unnecessary blood spilling happened. Though we cannot deny this fact, we also cannot deny that cryptocurrencies play a vital role in this unfortunate scenario.
2254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donating With Bitcoin on: March 25, 2022, 10:26:16 AM
Donating through bitcoin/crypto isn't new — I mean, we literally had a $10m+ donation to the Ukrainian government/charities.

Not sure if the crypto community in general would be keen to donate to religions though, besides probably some people with the same faith.

Not only that it isn't new but most of the charities being held nowadays have an option for BTC/cryptocurrency donation.

Since cryptocurrencies have a significant value in cash, there are charities that also ask for such option whenever they ask for donation. Be careful, however, that there are tons of fake charities and wallets being shared around the internet. Since it is very easy to post one's respective wallet ID, you have to be wary on which address you would donate to. That is why, before you donate any proceeds to a charitable cause, make sure that the details are 101% accurate so that your cause will not be lost.
2255  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - 🦉 DRAKE x STAKE 🥩 - Watford FC & UFC Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: March 24, 2022, 11:59:53 PM
Stake is proud to team up with our partner @Drake to donate $1m to the @KingJames I Promise School ♥

While many gambling websites offer free spins and other related free gambling benefits, I think Stake is the only gambling website that actually donates to a certain cause, which creates an image that they do indeed care for other people. While every business may be viewed as primarily for profit only, the fact that Stake made a move towards education means that they value education greatly.

I just hope that more gambling websites follow this move done by their fellow competitor. Not only does this benefit the image of Stake in the long-run but it also benefits the society as a whole in creating an educated youth for the future.
2256  Other / Meta / Re: Please State What Criteria or Reasons Willing to Give Your MERITS to Someone? on: March 24, 2022, 11:43:53 PM
the more you run after it, the more away it goes from you,
I don't think so about this line from you cause in my own opinion. It depends on how the user handled it or how he/she makes a good post or not. Cause if someone runs for merit and he/she doing his/her best to create useful topics and made a good quality reply then the merits will come easily.
Chasing a merit is not just hard if you are knowledgeable enough.

Personally, I think the better phrase is if the person is not too keen on chasing for merits but continues to provide and create quality posts, then his/her posts would inevitably earn merits along the way.

Lots of users nowadays are too focused on merit hunting (which is not a bad thing IMO) which somehow floods the forum with repetitive posts. Though it is still highly appreciated whenever they try to create a discussion, I think it is still best if they could create posts that are open for discussion; and make posts that can be a battlefield for discussion.
2257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Impact of bitcoin if Satoshi Identity is revealed on: March 24, 2022, 04:58:33 PM
Bitcoin decentralization would receive a great blow if somehow Satoshi come back from nowhere.  He would become something like Bitcoin CEO or ambassor, and decisions would somehow become centralized on him.

That's assuming Satoshi is still alive and participate on Bitcoin development/adoption. I fear more Satoshi's background/identity could be used to attack Bitcoin reputation.

This is definitely true. I also doubt that Satoshi would be able to at least influence the price by providing regulations imposed by him. That goes entirely contradictory on why he created BTC in the first place- which is financial freedom and control.

Assuming that Satoshi's identity is revealed, then I guess nothing big would impact. In fact, I also fear for his life since he may be the subject of all intrigues and searches when he gets revealed. In addition, I guess the price may also somehow affect given that his wallet address, up to this stay, still remains untouched containing thousands of BTCs.
2258  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you share your key to your family? on: March 24, 2022, 04:36:37 PM
We can't escape death and we don't know when we die... Crypto wallets aren't like traditional investments. They can be more vulnerable to security issues, and you generally can't name a beneficiary. Since we need to store our crypto to offline wallet or hardware wallet and we must store safely and secure our keys offline, did you already share your key to your family? Do you have any tips to make a good plan to your crypto assets for loved ones just in case when you die?

This is one of those issues where it gets frequently brought up due to the privacy of BTC addresses and wallets.

Based from my experience alone, I told my brother the password to my wallets and exchanges in the event that an unfortunate scenario happens unexpectedly. Just like any investment, you must always have a contingence plan in the event of accidents, etc.

By providing your private key to at least your most trusted family member/s, it adds an extra layer of security on both you and your family especially if you have BTCs involving large amounts of sum.
2259  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia - Ukraine | War imminent? on: March 24, 2022, 01:27:31 PM
China denies it has received a request for military assistance from Russia, I don't think Russia will rely on China militarily.
China was the country that abstained at the United Nations General Assembly against Russia, but that doesn't mean it will help Russia militarily. President Xi Jinping understands that openly helping Russia is no different than going against the world and that they will be isolated like Russia, even as you said that would spark a 3rd world war.
The war will not end anytime soon but I hope that further negotiations will bring new steps towards opening up a humanitarian corridor for the migrants to avoid loss of life. It was only the citizens who suffered during the war. Praying for everyone's peace.
Abstain is also not equal to supporting. If they wanted to clearly be on their side, they would have not just abstained, but they would have been on Russia's side and support them with their vote. They did not, which is a proof enough that they do not want to side with Russia on this one.

I mean, don't get me wrong they definitely feel closer to Russia than Ukraine and they do not care if Russia wins and kills and destroys Ukraine, they just do not want to be part of it. This is different from the west, west do not want to get involved militarily but they are at least siding with Ukraine, China is not doing that with Russia at the moment.
I don't think China will interfere in Russia's war, but they will care about this war closely. Russia's attack on Ukraine is seen as a test for the US and NATO. If they don't intervene and Russia wins, It is very likely that China will invade Taiwan because China always considers Taiwan as its territory. Until now, they have not dared to use military force because they are afraid of the US and Western countries.

I also think that China is smart about this whole war. While I do agree with the other comments that abstaining does not mean it is supporting wholly the efforts of Russia, China sees the financial advantage on this situation.

If China does partake in the war by supporting Russia, we will see several moves affecting its finances on the market. This will thus affect its overall finances and put them at a disadvantage. The problem with China is that, most of us need them more than they need us. With them being the labor powerhouse, I doubt that they will also receive severe sanctions like the ones imposed on Russia.
2260  Economy / Economics / Re: Putin is trying to coerce firms into doing business or else... on: March 24, 2022, 01:12:07 PM
Even if they seize the assets of this foreign individuals, how will they be able to run it as smoothly themselves? I am pretty sure that they're not going to be able to do the same operations as the previous owners and I think that those people who own those businesses have safety net in place when this war started.

That is true- even if the Russian government seizes the property of these businesses, I doubt that they would be able to function well. Since most of these Western companies and businesses have pulled-out their businesses/products in Russia, Putin is actually in chaos with its finances. Eventually, he will feel the effects of this war and in due course stop it.

I doubt where this pride of Putin will take him. Businesses are the lifeline of the country- without any proper circulation of cash, they will eventually yield to extreme measures.
