2261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Hoard Bitcoin? on: March 24, 2022, 12:32:24 PM
If Bitcoin is a better and higher currency than fiat, why then do bitcoiners hurdle it?
I think money is best used for buying and selling not hoarding, we get to see the value more when using it.
This my thoughts, wby?

First and foremost, there seems to be a flaw on your first statement. Bitcoin is definitely not better than fiat; and fiat is not better than bitcoin. Both can co-exist as they have their respective functions depending on the transactions. Since fiat is the universally accepted currency in the world, countries accept and view it as such which makes it legal. BTC, on the other hand, has some sort of regulation where other countries are constrained to prohibit or limit its transactions.

With regard to the question, BTC can be considered as a good store-of-value investment due to its inflationary value. By basing it primarily on the price history index, you will see that its price skyrocketed and increased more than 1000% of its original value.

Again if you are looking for a long-term investment, then it is highly advisable to invest in cryptocurrencies.
2262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chess online? on: March 24, 2022, 11:58:59 AM

I'm sure that the news that he is cheating have shocked the other players on the said tournament especially for those who are believing in him or for those who have been defeated by Igors Rausis. Anyway, it seems that it is not the first time he cheated while using a bathroom break, I mean he could've cheated already before he was caught.
Apart from audience - this is a big stain on his career. I am sure he would be repenting so much for what he has done. Fair game is always liked and admired by the audiences. No One would like to have a tag of cheater along with them - even if they are cheating. Have they had focused on the game - he would have done better than focusing on cheating.

Being negatively tagged because of cheating do stain your character and career for good and he will be carrying that until the rest of his life along with the embarrassment he did to himself but I doubt that he is repenting that much because I highly doubt that it was the very first time he cheated on that tournament.

Maybe he was doubted by others because his moves doesn't match to his recent plays.

Unfortunately, once you are tagged as a cheater on chess tournaments, then mostly your career (in online chess) is somehow ruined. Imagine, people reaching the 2000+ rating means that they have at least devoted most of their lives honing their skills. Lots of players, unfortunately, were banned from participating into tournaments because of cheating.

I remember, there was a chess GM who frequently visited restroom breaks during his match and it was subsequently discovered that he was hiding his cellphone on his pocket, checking the engine's recommendation on which is the best move to make.
2263  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't accept bribe to do KYC, it doesn't worth it on: March 23, 2022, 11:53:54 PM
Whoah, that is somehow intriguing- offering free money in order to register for KYC. That kind of practice definitely sparks a red-flag given that they actually offer you free money in exchange for your KYC documents. Do not ever compromise your personal information and identity regardless of the value of the money being offered.

Once your identity and personal information has been compromised, these scammers will use it to their advantage to phish more information about you and your family members. While you may feel the effects of being personally compromised, your family members may be the subject of their scams which will definitely cost you more money in the end.
Inulit ulit kong basahin, pati yung tanong. Pasensya na medyo nabaliw ako 😅

Although may point ka naman somehow about sa pwedeng mangyari to our government.

Just saying.

I just really fear na baka maging heavily regulated to the point na mawawalan or at least restricted yung freedom natin sa pag transact ng cryptocurrencies sa bansa.
2265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you even helped anyone with bitcoin? on: March 23, 2022, 04:39:17 PM
It's been always told to hold your bitcoin for long, it would be more valuable in future. That's the truth and I'm one of them who converted larger percentage of saving into bitcoin. but when i heard about a baby of my friend, suffer from cancer and he is helpless, then i transfer a good amount of bitcoin from my saving. I know market is bearish, time to buy more but step I've taken, is make me satisfied.

Edit:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5391063.msg59618951#msg59618951

Definitely- when my local people here in the forum held a bitcointalk charity program, I was able to donate at least some of my BTC earnings from my campaign signature towards the noble cause of helping the ones in need. In addition to this, I was also able to help my friend by at least letting him borrow $1,000 worth of BTC for his hospital fees due to the unexpected death of his father.

The good thing about this is that, I never actually invested money or anything. All came from the proceeds of my campaign signatures in which I see it as a privilege for me to participate in.
2266  Economy / Reputation / Re: Finally in the Hero club! on: March 23, 2022, 01:22:58 PM
I've not seen these sort of congratulatory posts around the forum for some time. Congratulations on your new rank.

We all know that becoming Legendary is definitely much more beneficial as a long-term goal.
I'm not aware of any benefits of being a legendary ranked member. The closest to any benefit would be earnings in signature campaigns, but that does not differ much between hero and legendary. Many projects group both ranks to the same cadre.

I do agree with Upgrade00 that the only benefits of reaching Legendary Rank is the extra privilege of earning more BTCs in campaign signatures. However, there are also several campaign signatures that offer equal rates between Hero and Legendary ranks which somehow renders it immaterial.

Regardless, I do congratulate you OP for reaching this rank. I remember my journey when the merit system was introduced. I really thought that it would be impossible to rank up given the scarcity of sMerits but over the years of development, more merits were being circulated and more posts were merited. Now that you reached this rank, I hope your journey continues in reaching Legendary Rank!
2267  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why Does This Always happen? on: March 23, 2022, 12:48:29 PM
This is normal and we should always remember that the market is unpredictable but you can always avoid losing big money especially if you know how to take profit and how to cut loss.

Analysis is a big key factor here because you will not buy that much on a crashing market, you have to wait for the good signal if its ok to buy now or wait for a deeper prices. Don’t get too emotional here, fix yourself and know what to do next.

Not that this is normal but this is what 80-90% of traders experience whenever they sell, buy, or HODL their coins. Given that the nature of trading is absolutely volatile, no one can accurately predict what the market situation would become in the following days, weeks, months, and/or years.

That is why whenever a person trades, it is essential and paramount that you develop your respective contingencies and goals in the following days. Always note the maximum tolerance you can handle before you sell your coins in a given price.
2268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 19 Million BTC in two weeks' time on: March 23, 2022, 10:42:04 AM
Fun fact: we're already halfway away from the next Bitcoin halving(or halvening, whatever). It totally felt like the last halving was just less than a year ago.

Ohh this is very interesting to hear! It felt like that the last halving happened just a few months ago. I remembered checking all of my BTCs and their value skyrocketed since I HODLed most of them. Fortunately and unfortunately, after the halving I cashed out majority of my BTCs and that taught me a valuable lesson to invest long-term and take advantage of its value.

The good thing about halving is that it takes a considerable amount of time for all of the supply of BTC to be circulated. Every halving means that the BTC in circulation would be cut down as its denominations would considerably decrease.
2269  Other / Meta / Re: Please State What Criteria or Reasons Willing to Give Your MERITS to Someone? on: March 23, 2022, 12:00:06 AM
To give you a personal breakdown of my criteria in sending sMERITS, please keep in mind that giving out such is purely discretionary on the part of the sender. While others may have their own criteria which may be entirely different than others, there is at least some commonality as to the benchmark of sending it. Nevertheless, here is mine:

  • Someone replied to my posts which further expounded the discussion on a certain topic;
  • Post contained useful information about cryptocurrencies in general; and
  • Scam reports which included substantial proof.

While the first two are self-explanatory, the third point is something that is beneficial to the forum. People who report scams (with substantial proof) should at least be rewarded with some merits.
2270  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Stake scammed me $40,000 AVOID AT ALL COST on: March 22, 2022, 11:52:46 PM
OP, do you have any updates as to the current situation of your problem? I believe @Stunna has replied to your post and he/she specifically requested that you should provide KYC documents, then the case will continue to be discussed amongst yourselves.

Hi,

Could you please complete KYC truthfully as requested and then we'll go from there.

Again, I really doubt that a well-reputable gambling site such as Stake would risk their entire reputation in an isolated case alone. They have build this gambling empire over years of grinding their trust and I doubt that they would also leave this problem unheard. I hope everything goes well to your problem, OP.

*Just a quick side note- please keep everyone updated as to your current problems for proper transparency.
2271  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to start? on: March 22, 2022, 11:46:15 PM
Where can i invest first and how to start i dont need much money!  If weekly income 20-30$ its enough for me now i just wants to start in a reliable way. Everyone wants to invest in a legit source not in dust!!

There are multiple ways for you to start your journey into the cryptocurrency world and every single mechanism has their advantages/disadvantages depending on what is comfortable to you. For example, with that amount of weekly income, you can purchase at least $5 worth of BTC every week and invest them long-term (HODLing) in order to maximize its value in the future.

Another example would be purchasing again BTCs and trade them in the market if you have the necessary experience to do so. Though I would advise against gambling since the nature of such process is too risky for a beginner.
2272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Around The World on: March 22, 2022, 11:34:52 PM
That's probably just a rough estimation because it's hard to find the accuracy on how many crypto investors and holders are already there. Data can be merged and collate based on the source.
But we have an idea that someone can have as much as wallets as he can and if that's part of the basis then there's already inaccuracy already. Well, we know that there really are millions of people that are aware of crypto but we just don't know the exact number.

i am more on this opinion. it is just an approximate number because up until now it is hard to get those numbers accurately. but it is showing that we are growing though as you said, one can have many wallets so long they want to create one. so this part, is actually the reason why we can't get the right numbers here.

Regardless if it shows some rought estimate, we cannot deny the fact that the growth of cryptocurrencies has been steadily growing over the past few years. Remember when its price was so relatively small that people owned at least some in the past? Remember the story of the guy who bought pizzas in exchange for 10,000 BTCs? Those are just some of the examples on why cryptocurrencies is slowly becoming the future of our transactions.

Eventually, we will see its implementation and integration of cryptocurrencies in our payment system. The government will soon accept it and provide laws in order to have an harmonious conglomeration of fiat and cryptocurrencies in our transaction system.
2273  Economy / Economics / Re: Anonymous hacker's group fight against Russia on: March 22, 2022, 04:08:34 PM
<...snip...>
Must Russia (Putin) remain adamant in proving to the world its ability and last resort?

I think this war started by Putin is a testament to the whole world that he has the capacity and authority to discharge its troops whenever he sees it necessary. This kind of hegemonic attitude is what attributed him the title of "war criminal" by Biden since he also violated most of the provisions stated in the Articles of War. In all honesty, it is only a matter of time where his own troops and people would turn against him- resulting to a possibility of strikes and hopefully (?!) his impeachment.

Like what I also mentioned to my previous posts regarding this war, Ukraine is probably the secondary objective of Russia (Putin). If he manages to capture such country, who knows what his next move would be?
2274  Local / Pilipinas / Re: GCash offering crypto services soon on: March 21, 2022, 07:55:20 PM
Another competitor to existing platforms, so that's always a good thing. Nothing really much to talk about though kasi wala pa tayong idea sa fees at kung ano ang mga potential features lol.

I just really hope na yung fees niya ay hindi kasing taas ng fees na binibigay ni coins.ph. Yun lang yung isa sa mga problems ko kasi they intentionally lower the prices of buying/selling your BTCs to the point na medyo lugi nga. If GCash manages a way to at least compromise and have lower fees, then this would be the new wallet for everyone given na sobrang dami din options and payment methods para makapag cash-in.

Siguro ang worry ko lang dito is that kung magkakaroon ng cryptocurrencies sa gcash, most likely panibang KYC documents nanaman need i-pass (like yung enhanced KYC ni coins.ph) and baka medyo mawalan ng gana mga tao dito.
2275  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How weird is it to borrow money and invest into Bitcoin? on: March 21, 2022, 07:51:31 PM
Bitcoin price is increasing so fast such that some people wish they borrowed and bought bitcoin at 29k some weeks ago

I want to know if it's much risk to borrow and purchase bitcoin like it is to trade bitcoin. However, the market is pumping, and it may seem like a good move if the loan is not for lunch, rent, and family bills which account for our daily needs (That is, my daily needs have been taken care of). Thus, timing is another criterion to discuss. How can someone know the perfect time to pick such a desperate gamble? We win or lose in trading or holding bitcoin but, I presume with the help of experts in this forum who have gone through thick and thins in this market, good guides or rules can be shared for users and newbies in the forum to have a grip on the market and know if borrowing is appropriate. It does sound thoughtless but, borrowing is part of the business. And we must prepare for the best as well.

Thanks, I'm ready to learn.

I think it is the same concept where you borrow money and gamble it away from online/physical casinos- there is no absolute guarantee of profiting on your end.

It is up to you to decide which risks outweigh your decision. If you think that by borrowing money and investing you would be able to yield some profit, then feel free to do so. But remember that once you borrow money, you are under the obligation to return it on the agreed specified period. In the event that the period has already been elapsed and your borrowed money still has not yet matured, then you would just suffer the consequences and embrace the loss on it.

2276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chess online? on: March 21, 2022, 07:46:38 PM
I would agree with @Wildan a player can use other computer to cheat so it doesn't make sense on having a bet on a Chess game but that would be great if anyone can stop people from cheating (Which is not) for me adding a bet on Chess game could spice up or make the game more intense.

It is possible to have a this kind of game if the player could have a live webcam to them (to see if they are using other computer) and a screen share of their computer just like what they are doing in online chess tournament but that was too much right? Setting up cameras and sharing your screen to others.

I severely disagree with your first statement.

First, high-level tournaments contain super GMs who does not use any engines at all. While we may argue that they may have the possibility of using so, they are strictly monitored with their respective PCs in order to avoid such cheating. In addition, these super GMs would not want to use any engine as they are the engines themselves. In the event that they actually use one, then they would just put their whole career into jeopardy and waste all of their efforts building their ratings on the ladder.

Again, betting in chess is just as fun as betting into other sports. I just hope that people would see the potential of this sport exploding in the near future.
2277  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: AXS and SLP available now on Coins.PH!!! on: March 21, 2022, 07:40:00 PM
Lol talagang mahirap nuon mapa cash in or cash out ng slp/weth.
I don't know bakit parating huli tayo sa mga bagong update.
I tried this already and super smooth ng transactions masasabe ko ren na mura ang fees because of Ronin. Its better to be late than never, eto ang maganda sa coinsph kase naguupdate talaga sila kahit papaano, kaya siguro sila paren ang best crypto wallet dito sa pinas.

Yup this is true- it is better late than ever regardless if nahuli na si coins.ph sa pag-implement ng SLP dito sa kanilang system. Naalala ko, sobrang hassle pa ng process dati kasi yung mga kaibigan ko dinadaan pa nila sa binance tapos cinoconvert pa tnila to WETH before they could cash out their SLPs. Given na mostly bagsak din ang price nito sa market, I have a feeling na mas madaming tao ang mag ttry and papasok sa Axie ngayon.

Though I heard na baka daw magkaroon ng panibagong burning mechanism sa Axie, I still have some doubts if worth it pa ba mag pasok ng pera at mag simula ng panibagong team.
2278  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com suddenly banned my Account on: March 21, 2022, 07:29:46 PM
This is a fairly large casino, so it is impossible for Stake.com to lock your account arbitrarily. They have established procedures and run them according to company standards. This is actually commonplace and does not need to be discussed again. So think about what you do, so the casino says your account is indicated for bonus scams? Please re-read the Stake.com rules.
Undoubtedly stake.com is a large and reputed company and it is well known that they are not scammer. Not only stake.com but also other gambling site who has referral system or any types of bonus system will not allow them to create multiple account and also will not allow their user/users abuse their referral/bonus system.
creating a multiplie account is a scam, however the referral system created by gambling sites is to attract users to spread more information to other people about that gambling site. most accounts that get banned (not just stakes) on a gambling site are due to manipulating the referral system provided.

Unfortunately, lots of people nowadays blindly create accounts without even reading the TOS of the gambling website. This step is crucial especially if you are planning on gambling long-term on the website as your acts might be against their stated rules. Such TOS is constructive notice to all gamblers whether they have read it or not and enforcing their claim which is prohibited by the TOS will remain futile.

Like you guys mentioned, Stake will not punish anyone arbitrarily. There has to be some due process before they arrive at such decision and the fact that they banned your account means you have violated their stated rules on their website.
2279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Malaysian Ministry proposes cryptocurrencies as legal tender? on: March 21, 2022, 07:05:31 PM
Source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-21/malaysian-ministry-proposes-legal-tender-of-crypto-currency

Okay now this is getting out of hand! After El Salvador being the first, to Honduras set to make BTC as legal tender soon, and now this???

This is just a proposal for now, so there’s no official word yet if it’s already official. You think this is a good idea for Malaysia to make Bitcoin as legal tender after some countries are following the footsteps of El Salvador?

What are your thoughts about this guys?

Like what I mentioned to similar posts like these, the move that El Salvador did will definitely cause a chain reaction where other countries would soon follow this trend. It is just inevitable the dominance of cryptocurrencies in the market. Sooner and later, countries would start to adapt it into their finances to the point that they would slowly integrate it into their transactions.

The fact that the Malaysian Ministry proposed such idea speaks a lot about the future of cryptocurrencies in our payment and transactions. I just hope that more countries would soon follow this step as this is indeed the future of our payments.
2280  Other / Off-topic / Re: Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor on: March 21, 2022, 06:56:12 PM
It sounds weirds, but I am tired of all these trilogy, revenge, second fight against same opponent, second chance, true winner and etc fight. Let Conor and this kid make a fight. Their trash talk is going to be hilarious and epic. There are only one reason why Conor would accept this fight, and promotors not going to organize it. Conor not feel like he is short of money to make this useless exhibition fight. Promotors dont have enough money to pay both fighters, while they earn a little (last Jake Paul fight has sold not as many PPV as they expected).

I definitely feel you. These exhibition fights are totally appalling in a way that they do not show the true spirit of boxing. While I do understand that this will be very profitable in a business perspective, but this will not be as enjoyable compared to two genuine boxers fight each other in the ring.

To be honest, who the hell is Jake Paul and his relevance in boxing? While McGregor has experience in UFC and has fought Mayweather in an exhibition fight before, he at least has experience on how to step-up in the ring. This just goes to show on how boxing has been portrayed in the current timeline- which is unfortunate to witness.
