441  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling affect your relationship? on: September 20, 2023, 03:03:47 PM
Yes, gambling can affect relationships. It can put a strain and permanent damage to your relationship with your loved ones whether it is your mother, father, siblings, spouse, friends, and other relatives. As a matter of fact, gambling is one of the leading causes why people drift apart from each other. This is mostly because of bad gambling habits that lead to influencing your connection with others negatively such as when you become addicted, you tend to spend so much time gambling that you might forget the time already. You can missed out special occasions such as family events, anniversary, birthdays, and the likes. And the moment you forget those, some people might felt betrayed and disappointed because you don't pay attention and you don't took note of those matters that weighs heavy for them.

Additionally, if you overspend in gambling, you can find yourself in trouble for having no savings or even being buried with debts that could lead to arguments from your immediate family members and especially with your spouse or partner in life. It can affect so many relationships if you will not do it right. It could ruin what you treasure and cherish the most if you won't gamble responsibly.
442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum Age to gamble on: September 20, 2023, 02:27:54 PM

Yes I agree to this, there is no other way to reduce the amount of loss or to avoid addiction other than self-control, I hope most of them (gamblers) already know about what they should do there. Always gamble with a budget limit and a healthy mindset of not overdoing it, that's it and you'll be safe. Because as we know the temptation in gambling is very extraordinary, only a few are able to pass it and most of them will be trapped there. What I'm afraid of is that for young children, there must be strict rules from both parents, especially in this era where gambling is very common, so this is a big task for every parent.

That's right. It really boils down to discipline. Everytime gambling is involved, you should know that automatically, one way or another, you'll encounter it because you should practice it in the first place. There's no other option indeed to reduce losses but to be responsible of your betting routine. If you continue to overspend and to overtime in gambling, you'll reap it in the future. You can be addicted by going beyond what it's recommended and that could ruin your life in an instant. So always gamble responsibly and improve your mindset to only take calculated risks.
443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A weird belief among some gamblers. on: September 20, 2023, 01:55:31 PM
It may not be a superstition but a requirement for that person.  If they received a tip or some involvement with the players in a match what events will take place, any inside info as to who is sick or missing from that game then he has no choice.   Its quite sensible to protect your sources if you should have any.
I'm not arguing with anyone who could say this to me, they cant explain themselves and I dont want the trouble for them or myself.

If you have a leak of some sort, it's really crucial to contain the information to yourself and to not publicize nor share it to anyone else because the insider might lose his job or might be compromised in return of doing a favor for you. I really do not condone this act, but it's happening regardless so I'm just here to advice. It will be a messy situation and it will be a big disappointment to the person who trusted you to be as your source just so you could have the higher chance of winning on your bet if the identity will be disclosed.

Additionally, you aren't really sure if the source is saying a true information unless you verify it yourself so spreading and sharing it might even harm other folks for receiving a fake news.
444  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: September 20, 2023, 12:57:12 PM
Kids are intelligent. They like observing the people around them and then they imitate the behaviors they see. Most often, kids really picture out and copy your attitude, the way you behave, and the way you perceive things. They are fast learners. That's why they said that if you want your kids be a good people, show them - be their role model. And I guess it's really true because it's often the case to the kids and parents that I personally know. Honestly, it's both fascinating and worrisome. Fascinating because you can mold your kids into becoming a great adult by showing them how to be kind, responsible, respectful, and strategic. Worrisome because they might grow into a bad one if they are exposed into an unpleasant upbringing during their childhood.

So it's really a matter of discipline on your side as a parent. If you think gambling has a great repercussions to one's life especially if they are exposed to it at a young age, then do your best to avoid gambling with them around. That way, they will not be curious about it.
445  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Behaviours of gamblers you dislike. on: September 19, 2023, 03:59:23 PM
You've hit on a few truths there, but let's not sugarcoat it. Some people  thinking they're smarter than the system. The key is: the house always has the edge. While I'm not here to hold anyone's hand, the idea of looking at gambling as a steady income is 100% stupid. But hey, if you can enjoy a game without going bankrupt, more power to you. For those who can't, a reality check is overdue. But really, find another way to make a living. Not everyone is meant for the gambling world
Those people are arrogant, they somehow believe that the math behind the games does not really apply to them, as if for some reason the odds of the games are going to change simply because they are the ones playing, and when that does not happen they refuse to accept the reality and blame the casino, their luck and anything and anyone they can, without ever admitting they are the main source of their problems, as their belief they can make money while gambling is not true.
I wouldn't call that being arrogant, it's simply being a fool. Those people who think they can constantly beat the house and win and can be profitable throughout their gambling journey are either fools or out of their minds because gambling is a game of luck and there is no attitude or arrogance or anything that can make you win, even strategies don't work that people sometimes find helpful in recovering their losses because they get lucky.

Someone who might manage to recover their losses once or twice using a specific strategy in gambling is basically getting trapped, and once they are trapped, they will lose and try to recover their losses and then the house hits them with a very large loss streak and drain their entire balance in no time.

There's no really one solution fits all. There's no such thing as strategy that is applicable to everyone because every player has a different set of luck, circumstances, and skills. Doesn't mean that it worked for others, it will work for you too. And that's the harsh reality in life. Sometimes people are more blessed and more skillful than us that's why they get what they have now, and they totally deserve it anyway especially if they really worked hard to achieve that winning by practicing and researching.

One thing to learn for those people who are frequently envious of others achievements is to focus on your own success. It always takes a baby step in the beginning. Do not be fomo-ed and do not be swayed away by enticing offers to earn big quick or to get back what you lost. Always do a calculated bet and play. Analyze, execute, take profit.
446  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the Difference Between Plying Gambling on Online Sites and Real Casinos? on: September 19, 2023, 03:08:41 PM
Yes, young people nowadays are starting to get addicted to gambling because they can visit sites easily using their devices. No one knows if they often gamble, so when they are addicted to gambling, they may find it difficult to help. But it all comes back to the gambler's intentions because if they really want to recover from their gambling addiction, they will do anything to cure it.
Yes, it is true that online gambling makes it easier for people to get addicted, especially now in this era of sophisticated technology and a good cellphone that never leaves the user's hands, the average gambler now never goes far from using his cellphone, so if you are addicted to online gambling, it is definitely difficult to get rid of the habit and This is very different from when you gamble at a real and offline casino, you can just walk away from the casino and then not visit it again.

But for online casinos, it seems like it will be difficult because nowadays people are happier with their cellphones, let alone always relying on the internet, so it's a bit difficult for online gamblers to really recover from their addiction, that's why I'm always happy to give advice to beginners on this forum that don't gamble beyond limits. because if you are addicted it will be difficult to stop, so gamble wisely and control your emotions before gambling.

It's really a challenging task now to be disciplined when everything is within your reach. Online casinos became a convenient way to gamble for most players. You can now play within the comforts of your home, without breaking a sweat and without having to interact personally with so many people that you don't know the personality to begin with.

Unlike in physical casino establishment, you have to go out and travel just to play which could be a hassle and a tiring activity on your end. But the pros will be, you can feel the real vibe of a casino site. The ambiance, the atmosphere, and the overall feeling of what it is like to be in a casino that have an actual machines and players as your competitors.
447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Free spins are also a demo in disguise? on: September 19, 2023, 02:07:31 PM
Free spins and demo account in gambling are two different things. Free spins are given most commonly when you sign up for an account and is still a newbie. This is usually done to encourage the players to deposit and play more. This way, the casino will have an increase traffic in terms of the website usage, and at the same time, they can earn more profit too because of the money expenditures of the players.

If you want to have an experience about a demo account, there are many sites and platforms to choose from so you can practice. Demo accounts are for honing your skills and grasping the nature of the game. Meanwhile, free spins are typically bonuses given without a cost to engage you from further activities. So I think you had a misconception about it because of the same results you got with your friend.
448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How will you feel if it happens to you just like this? on: September 19, 2023, 12:54:25 PM

If a gambler feels alone and alone, he must be able to open himself to accept other people in his life. He can get out of his house and meet other people because who knows, by doing that, there may be people who could become his good friends who can help him get out of his gambling addiction. He won't know what he can do and achieve if he doesn't try. It's all about whether or not you want to try it to see how it works out for you. Maybe it will be difficult at first when he tries, but if he keeps trying, he will be able to handle it well and make some friends. And yes, it is rare for people to live lonely and alone because humans are social creatures who need the presence of other people.

It's really good to meet other people with the same and different wavelengths so that you can have other perspectives about life and about your hobby or routine in general. You can't just isolate and confine yourself within the four walls of your home in your lifetime. You have to go out, expand your comfort zone if you don't want to get out of it completely, and learn new things. After all, if you gamble excessively, you will develop dependency and addiction. And if you ever already have this, then it's high time for you to explore other activities that might interest you so that your attention, time, and money will be diverted to other activities that could benefit you.
449  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: September 19, 2023, 09:25:37 AM

But controlling yourself does not equals to keeping something in secret. Gambling responsibility does not equal to keeping gambling in secret also. If someone want to look responsible, is scared that his gambling might turn into addiction, then is is even better to announce that you gamble, than hide it. People around might notice addiction and try to help.

Notice how on the first pages of this topic people supported that it is better to hide such hobby or way to spend time, and how we talk about addiction, wife/husband spending fortune and other problems. A lot of problems we have in our lives are due to keeping something in secret, lack of communication and keeping everything inside than putting it on public. I bet you have lots of example in your life when you would better have told something than kept that in secret or was silent about something.

Instead of keeping something in secret, better surround ourselves with right people.

I agree with this especially the last part.

It could be a good idea to keep your gambling habit a secret to avoid the unsolicited advices from the people that you aren't close to begin with. However, it also has its pros such as being supported and guided with your decision making whenever you are betting and playing. It's a good thing to have someone to look after you because sometimes we have a tendency to go astray even if we were firmed in our decision before to just gamble moderately and responsibly. There will be times especially to those people who are prone to be pressured by external factors to be lost in their way and hence, having your closest ones that know your habits can help you be in track in a healthy way, without suffocating you.
450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Australia will ban Gambling through credit cards on: September 16, 2023, 04:58:23 PM
Based from what you stated, it's just the credit card mode of deposit that is going to be banned in Australia gambling platforms. The players can still use e-wallets or debit card as their payment or deposit method to play into their favorite website. It just makes a little inconvenience to have a lesser option to use for gambling, but I believe Australian government will do this for a good reason.

It's not really healthy and heartwarming to lose a lot of money because of people's irresponsibility. It's more of infuriating and disappointing for sure to the side of the government and specially to the side of the banks. Hence, one way to cut this losses is to cut the source of fund of those people who doesn't have enough resources for gambling to begin with. With this, they limit the financial dependency on credit and loans of the gamblers and perhaps this will make them reflect and think about having other source of fund just to be able to play and bet.
451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can money be saved in gambling sites? on: September 16, 2023, 01:54:08 PM
It can be saved in a casino website only if you want to. However it's not really advisable and safe to do so because it possess so many risks. Having a gambling site serving as your bank could mean trouble the moment the casino becomes bankrupt and be lost in thin air. But if you will persist in doing so, you should make sure that the casino is reputable and trusted. This way, you have an assurance that they will not pocket your money and go missing in action.

Be sure to always check the terms and conditions of the casino website too once in every while because they might change it without notifying you that could lead you in the disadvantaged side the moment they change it into unfavorable manner to the player's.
452  Economy / Economics / Re: To afford personal education or a property? Where to allocate funds? on: September 16, 2023, 01:08:19 PM
Let's suppose you have a limited budget which can be used only for one of the alternatives below:

What is the best investment, in your opinion? To use this money to pay for your education, so you can conclude a superior course and achieve a higher degree, having access to a wide jobs' market, or to use that money to acquire an apartment, house or piece of land, so you can make a passive income from this?

I would say to acquire an apartment, house, or anything that would give you a passive income, because you can enroll yourself later in any school you can afford while managing your business at the same time, it's not that hard especially if you're really a hardworking one for your dreams to come true.

It brings the following question up: what is more valued in life: to be or to have? Does it make someone fulfilled to have while not being or being without having anything?

It depends to a person, but for me it makes me happy and contented knowing that I'm still alive, I have no enemies, I have a home and family. It's not about how much you have or what have you become, it's about who you really are and you're not pretending to be anyone just to please people and appreciating what God gives you in life.
453  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading or investment! What's your take? on: September 16, 2023, 11:15:02 AM
Both is profitable depending on how much effort you are willing to give to excel in either of the two.

Trading is a continuous stressor in my opinion especially if you're a beginner, since there's a lot things you should do to find the right things in your trading journey to make profits most of the time, while investment is also a stressor but not that much compare to trading. There's a lot of investment but I would always choose Bitcoin, less hassle for me than going for real estate, or stocks.
454  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Big is the online gambling industry today? on: September 16, 2023, 09:50:05 AM
The online gambling industry is a massive and thriving sector in the global market. While it's difficult to provide an exact size it’s estimated to be worth billions of dollars annually.

With the increasing popularity of online casinos, sportsbooks, poker rooms and other gambling platforms the industry has experienced significant growth. Things like technological advancements, mobile accessibility and regulatory changes have contributed to its expansion.

The industry's size and continued growth reflect the strong demand for online gambling entertainment worldwide.

I agree with this.

Internationally and locally speaking gambling has been evidently growing. The community of gamblers is becoming more massive each day because of the effective advertisements and campaigns done by different influencers and platforms. It's a good thing for the gambling community because the development is continuously expanding. However, it comes with consequences on the side of the bettors and players. Personally, I think that it should be mandatory to also include a warning in advertisements, not only the benefits so that people are going to be aware of both sides of it without being shocked about the nature of it in reality. After all, it's not always rainbow and sunshine in gambling world.
455  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Honest question, what to think about “crypto” affiliates or influencers? on: September 16, 2023, 09:09:21 AM
The reason behind that is to earn more money, they get paid by their sponsors to from a certain trading platform and they also earn from affiliates program.

There's nothing wrong with that, I've seen couples of top trading platforms that's being promoted by celebrities and YouTubers in our country. It's up to you if you're going to use their link to get something in return like a voucher or couple of dollars once you verified your trading account on a certain platform or you could just don't and do it yourself instead.
456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the new Apple toys & Invest in Bitcoin, history always repeat itself. on: September 15, 2023, 02:48:22 PM
I agree.

But I believe there's nothing wrong with buying the things you want. Buying apple products doesn't mean that they don't have any investment at all. Not all people knows Bitcoin, and what's it's worth, how much profit they could make in the long run, etc. But for every Bitcoin enthusiast, buying such very expensive phone is not really worth it, especially with the battery lifespan of apple product ain't that good since day 1.
457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of advice is worth giving such people? on: September 15, 2023, 12:47:22 PM
What advice is worth passing out to people who have lost their Bitcoin more than once and are on the hedge of giving up?

Maybe before he decided to buy again, why not try to think of the things that went wrong that cause him to lose his bitcoin, because if he's not going to do that, he'll just keep on losing his investment because of his repeated mistakes. Investing in Bitcoin doesn't end in buying it alone, a reputable bitcoin wallet is a must to secure that investment.

Always remember, not your keys, not your coins.
458  Economy / Economics / Re: Was just watching the big short. Why do the times suddenly feel similar? on: September 15, 2023, 04:29:40 AM
I think same thing happened when the corona virus hits us way back 2020. A lot of people have sold their properties in a very cheap price because their savings are already gone, they've lost their job because many companies have closed due to lack of customers or other things that's related to the effects of the pandemic.

The very lesson I've learned from the pandemic was to be prepared for anything, save as much as you can for your emergency fund, think of something that's going to give you money instead of spending it to things that doesn't generate money in the long run.
459  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If they have the ability why would they sell? on: September 14, 2023, 03:41:04 PM
I'd rather trust advices from a group of trading experts rather than relying on free signals.

Being a parasite to have those free signals will never bear anything in the long run, compare to advices which you can use on developing your skills in trading, because it will guide you and answers everything that you wanted to know. I also knew a group in Facebook which they guide newbies and they help each other but not giving any signals, instead they are just giving their opinion on a certain chart for example, etc.
460  Economy / Economics / Re: If the global economy collapses what's the first thing you do? on: September 14, 2023, 11:01:00 AM
I wouldn't worry that so much I think since I live in a province, we can easily forage anything in the forest or even in the seashore, so money won't be a problem. Investment in long term like holding bitcoin is also a good thing, since fiat would be a pain in the ass because of hyperinflation.

The only pitiful people would be those in the urban areas yet doesn't have any privileged to earn enough money even when there is no economical problem yet. But I hope there's still a solution for what's happening in the world right now.
