524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Have DOGE, Want tBTC (Bitcoin testnet) on: June 27, 2020, 05:10:08 AM
Not really sure what the necessity is but here is a thread that contains testnet faucets. On top of that there is a member who has a large amount of tBTC mocacino. Pretty sure there only concern is being able to replenish what they lend out through mining it.

Check it out and maybe it will work out for you.

Lol walk away to do my job and come back to a full and completed raffle. Well done and congrats I guess  Wink

THURSDAY DOUBLES START IN 2 HOURS!
Still one of the most enjoyable sessions I get into weekly, if not working. I can't manage to run well in both but there's always next time.

Wanted to drop in here to spread awareness about the #3 Bitcointalk Poker Series (0.05 BTC & BIG BTC Ticket sponsored by SwC Poker) This kicks off this Sunday. It's a good time and all you need to do is create an account on the forum and you are eligible to participate.

SWC have been great hosts and float out some great guarantees for the finales. There is a Series Championship, A small final for participants who don't qualify at the end, and we have added in a lottery aspect to give everyone the chance at earning a decent prize at the end to help balance out skill levels. Feel free to pop in and ask questions.
527  Economy / Gambling / Re: #3 Bitcointalk Poker Series (0.05 BTC & BIG BTC Ticket sponsored by SwC Poker) on: June 26, 2020, 11:23:05 PM
Guys, I will once again send the regulars all passwords in advance (later today) so we save us all a bit of the hassle - can't wait for Sunday!
This time youcantwin for real, I mean for real! Cool Cheesy
Thanks again. Passwordds received, I'll fire off entries as I play for sure.
Just a reminder to all, do not share the passwords, unless you are confident enough someone has paid the fee, or are willing to cover the fee yourself if they didn't.
No offence but you need to shift it to either Tuesday or  Wednesday. Sunday is very busy for regular players like me because of big tourneys on poker stars.
Prize pool is simply not enough for me to shift my focus from those big ones.
Unfortunately that wouldn't work for the vast majority of regulars and potential new players. Weekends are generally a good bet for most people and the timezone thing can work out reasonably. We have some people playing early in the morning while others are late evening. While you may consider the prizepool small, it's actually a pretty decent payout if you can take any down not to mention the shot at the finale, and the lottery tickets.
It is conceivable that the amounts are to far below the stakes you play at but it's a fun relatively short tournament, that can easily be played while multi tabling - the pace isn't crazy.

We would be more than happy to have you in the mix for the whole series but this seems to b the happy medium that is working out for now. Feel free to drop any comments or concerns in the discussion thread so we can hash it out before series #4.

It does look like we still have some general discussion to take place regarding the lottery. So let's all move it over to the discussion thread.

See everyone Sunday going to try and come out strong for the title defense. I tried to prod a few people during the Thursday double, but not sure anyone will come along. I really push the sponsored final but we'll see.

I have a question. Does anyone enjoy or get anything out of me recording the play?? I really don't mind continuing doing it, but wanted to make sure it had some value to others. I could also try and add to it a little, I've considered doing a bit of voice over, but I will need to work out the logistics, as this is set up in the family room lol.
528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Series format discussion - Let's keep them all in one place. on: June 25, 2020, 08:08:07 PM
If there's no tournament are you for some casual tournament with 1mbtc buy in, like in the beginning? Nothing special, maybe Efi or Ty can organize that with SwC? I would play, that can be like warming up for upcoming series?
I would hold off on trying to throw something together quickly just because of this

So sorry to disappoint but start is going to be next Sunday :/

If there is no tournament though we could all meet up in one of the other tournaments they run, or hop onto some cash tables at 1/2 or 5/10.

It just makes me thinkn everythign is in the works and that maybe SWC forgot to add it to the schedule or efialtis forgot to confirm. I'm hoping it pops up today or tomorrow. I also don't want to possibly cause some miscommunication with SWC in regards to the series.

I did have a thought though on trying to increase traffic, at least in trying to bring over some of their regs. It centers around information on ho0w easy it is to get the password. For instance if someone clicks on the tournament something small about how they just need to register on the forum to get the password. That or "Check to get password" attached to the tournament title. There is a chance that because it is a password protected tournament with the lock symbol some users don't look at it. I'll be playing 2 tournaments tonight and will again encourage people to come play the series.

I'm also offering up assisting with picking up any of the slack if you need efialtis. I don't mind doing any of the go between or confirmation/information gathering to assist in keeping the series tournaments running smoothly.

529  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker talk - Specifically Hold'em - Hands and or strategy on: June 25, 2020, 05:16:36 PM
i did get that impression but wasn't totally sure since somebody was added to the table on the second hand. it was one of the things (combined with the minraise from early position) that made me wonder if this was his standard open or the old "minraise with monsters to get callers" type thing. i've noticed some players still do this. my standard open is definitely bigger, especially from UTG or UTG+1.
Yeah the rest of the night he was 2BB always. I have seen a few people that seem to drop it down to a min raise or the limping in UTG/UTG+1 a lot more. The limp opens with or without callers still drive me crazy; I still generally raise it if I have a playable hand but it seems more often than not it turns into a 3-bet pot or a jam.

I've been playing with a larger open in early and late position, and the old 2.2 in mid and SB. I rarely mix it up based on hand strength.
530  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Some very 'bad' news on s19 shipments. on: June 24, 2020, 10:03:23 PM
I am fairly ignorant to the Bitmain supply chain. Is there a chance this is from their factories outside of China. I commented previously that they had mentioned shipments involving mainland China, so all those Tariff dodging factories might still be producing and shipping for the time being. I definitely don't know who controls what, but then again neither does Bitmain lol.
531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker talk - Specifically Hold'em - Hands and or strategy on: June 24, 2020, 09:30:04 PM
congrats on the deep run! Smiley
ace-rag gonna ace-rag. off suit at that. Tongue
that early position 2x RFI smells like a big hand, no? or was this guy particularly active?
Thanks.
You know that Ace-rag is a cornerstone of my range  Tongue
In all seriousness the call was 1 BB into a pot of 5.5 or so pre. BB defend for me when I'm deepstacked is definitely any Ax. The call on the flop is standard for me in that spot as well. I think it's common that people c-bet almost 100% if they were pre-flop aggressor. The turn call was 50/50 for me, but the price was still good imo. Looking back on it it's clear he was trying to keep it cheap and keep me along with my weak A or draw. With the straightdraw and flush draw getting there I was beginning to consider turning my hand into a bluff on the river, by leading out. In the end I chickened out, with any Q making a straight as well.

Odds are this guy would never have let go his flopped set anyways so opting out of the bluff was probably a good call. I'm glad he checked it back as I would have folded to any bet on the river.

I know I'm bad at playing the blocker game in my head so when I have a certain pair I will give less credit to others having it. Like most things in poker sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong but overall I think it's been +EV. I just balance it by keeping pots smaller with check-calls, and if it gets to pricey then I have to walk away.

2BB open seemed to be his standard. I've noticed that most people aren't varying their sizing at all. I was the same, but have picked a few different spots to vary it. ACR actually makes it more difficult for me because it will almost never let me type in 2.3BB for a betsize. You'll notice he did the same 2BB open in the next hand. I left this part out from the information to see if anyone would pick up on the seats. 1 orbit apart this guy flopped a set of Aces, and I was in a spot that put me in his crosshairs each time. Crazy.
not much to say, tough beat. i'd have done the same.
You know what all I could do was laugh at this, probably because I actually had a very healthy stack leftover. It was actually a + in my book as I didn't wind up with a toxic mindset immediately afterwards. Chatted with the guy for a few minutes, he figured I had hit a 2, and couldn't believe the cooler himself.

^ ^  It's better if you post your hands without showing the results to avoid results based thinking and to make the analysis as objective as possible.  You can post the results later anyway.
And it would help if you share your thought process with each hand.
Will do. These hands weren't so much a review of spots themselves just a snippit of the highs and lows in this deeprun I made. The last few times I made a FT or close were very "slow" in terms of play. A lot of folding and waiting from a shortstack position. I didn't give much info prior to, but this is more a mindset review if anything. In the past I've definitely tilted off more than my fair share of potential finishes after a beat like this. Instead I kept my shit together and just waited for the next spot - the 3rd hand.

I do have a few spots in mind that I want some opinions on, I just haven't run into them lately. I like the idea of explaining my thinking prior to any input and will do that the next time I bring a hand in. On that note, now that I've told everyone this 1st 2 hands were the same guy. When I made the losing call boat over boat, I honestly sat there and said "no way this guy has AA again, 88 or 22 and I'm just unlucky".

532  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Make it just a little more difficult to create a new account. on: June 23, 2020, 04:27:44 AM
But if the registration process get difficult, I think we would loss potential user too.
If performing the simple task of verifying your registration email is to difficult for someone they are going to have a real hard time getting involved in crypto or anything in life for that matter. Sandy's point is valid, considering the only people this would really affect are people creating multiple low level accounts for spamming, or posting malware links.
You can see it from time to time when a massive number of old threads you've commented in get bumped by some random post with a business link is spouting the same garbage, or multiple accounts at the same time.

thanks, i appreciate your insight.
Always glad to repay the favor.
+1, i dunno if they understand that. the software is so horrible that no remotely serious player wants to pay value to play there. they have to pay us with overlays.
They make it hard to stay away, but I don't even consider it until I hear about a big one. I'm set up on 3 sites now so I can easily choose to stay away.

sounds like it. fucking poker! Grin
That sums it up perfectly. It's funny how the same can be said when things start going really well.

The last part is something I've been thinking on a lot lately. For a while after my first big bink on Low Stakes I was able to hold my own but looking back my graph was on a steady decline. There was a lot of bad plays and learning going on in that time, so not all bad. Then came bad decisions ... very late reg, poor re-entry spots, and just some bad bankroll management. Then there was the inevitable poker variance that was in there as well, a double edged sword so to speak.

The run-bad was real at times, and really took the forefront. There were some massive sun runs at the same time, but they generally get forgotten. In the end the variance helped me rebuild, from 0 essentially. I had burned myself down to about break even. The winnings I had on SWC was being transferred to ACR, as they had a better schedule for me. Then came a few binks, SWC has been a really good field overall for me with their new schedule, not to mention our Forum Series. Everything really turned around, the bankroll was rebuilding and I'm building up consistency for cashing. ACR has mostly been min cashes or Top 20, which has been nice but was still break even or losing in the long run. It was definitely still frustrating as it just seemed something I couldn't fix.

Brings me to last night. Not a proud moment but I was on a typical schedule as the wife let me start early for fathers day.  Cool
Pretty much standard on my second bullet in a low stakes and down 2 in a micro. Just couldn't gain traction until I ran hot and was primed for a solid finish. Got coolered 2 hands in a row with pocketpairs and I wound up out 26 off the money. I probably could have gotten away from the first one and was likely tilted going into the second one. Got a little frustrated looked over the schedule and made the choice as it was early, to buy-in to tournament more in-line with the SWC buy-ins I've been playing. Not a great idea nor advice to anyone to lose and go up in stakes. Probably more of a chasing a loss than anything.
I still had a week or 2 worth of buy-ins but wasn't sure if ACR was going to be a field I kept playing in. So while this wasn't just me punting off a bigger buy-in I wasn't going to be heartbroken if I ran down my ACR funds quicker this way.

Well turns out I'll be sticking around. I didn't take the whole thing down but it was close. Played a solid game and took 5th overall, for my highest score by a few bucks. This last one actually has me with a full bankroll, that I have won - 95% of apart from my initial deposit. This is spread across SWC ACR and GGpoker(small amount but have been somewhat successful on their lowsakes tournaments)

Anyway just thought I would share that as it was sort of a big deal and hit me this morning. Now the hard part of keeping it up and growing it. Anyways here are a couple hands from last night, this could have easily ended my night. There were a lot of ups and downs but nothing that I think was a real head scratcher or anything. The first 2 hands are one orbit apart. Apart from all the ups and downs the craziest thing happened the PC I was on froze on th efinal table - I went scrambling in the dark searching for my laptop so fast lol, only tripped over 2 things.

People should also take note of the merit sources who merited the behavior as they clearly showed bad judgement in doing so.
Not really. It's a well layed out and written OP. The subject was thorough and complete. These are the types of things that will get a post merited regardless of someone agreeing with or disagreeing with the idea.

Now if they are adding them to trust lists then that's where you would start to question someones judgment.
535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another bitcoin scams hit Canada on: June 21, 2020, 06:58:24 PM
Calm Down

This is not another scam this is the same scam. You can find an article from nearly a year ago about the same thing. i live a few hours away from Winnipeg and likely know the owner of the BTC ATM at that location. This comes up constantly it is no differnt than the scams involving Gift cards or mailing/couriering cash.

You receive a call from someone claiming to be a Utility provide, Governement agency, or Law enforcement.
They tell you that you owe them money or they will cut you off and sue, or imprison you, take away your children... whatever it takes.
They tell you go to this ATM and buy and send to this address.

Story as old as time. So again it's just a misleading article by cointelegraph who really should put some effort into being a crypto news source.

Shame they should know better and be able to write a real article instead of copy/paste/snip an article from a mainstream news source.
536  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan 0.07 Bitcoin coin collateral on: June 21, 2020, 06:44:00 PM

You have to understand... or already do. Anyone can grab a random address with value and claim it as their own. What a lender will want it you to transfer those tokens to them or an escrow for them to hold onto until you repay your loan. Frozen tokens are useless because if you default and disappear, the lender is out of luck.

So until you have a token you can send to the lender that you don't wan to sell but use as collateral you should stop requesting loans.
537  Economy / Auctions / Re: Monero Means Money (original artwork) for sale on: June 21, 2020, 06:28:47 PM
Well done with your auction. Good job posting it in the correct section as many people just post without reading. In th efuture this falls into a "collectible" kind of category and can be hosted in the Collectibles section. Keep that in mind in th efuture and you might generate more interest, no one really comes here for auctions unless it's to advertise on the forum or for domain names.

bump and price lowered.
not sure why nobody bought at old price because this is a very desirable collectible.  Huh Huh Huh
 buy now!
It could be that this is the wrong market for the items. Your best bet is to sell them in a marketplace centered around cockfighting and it's memorabilia, then converting that cash to BTC. Some things just don't sell here and sit around for years, so if it's desirable take it where it is desired and move it quickly.

Just giving this a bump as I saw another Canadian post. Also updating that Petahasher is a Scammer
540  Other / Archival / Re: [ CWE-79 ] *.nastyfans.org is vulnerable to script injection on: June 21, 2020, 01:21:15 PM
It's not against the law to break into a house unless you intend to do something illegal.
That's absurd. The law is literally "Breaking and Entering" which would be broken as they did so with the intent to commit an offence. Trespassing would fit this as well, if we want to use silly comparisons for this matter. Wouldn't it have made more sense to look at Computer Crime Laws to attempt to defend OP.

I read this a few days ago, and first thought was probably should have posted this well after contacting OG about it. Maybe even posting in conjunction. Should have probably stated you were going to perform test before going ahead and doing so. I don't know shit about website design and security so I can't speak to much else here apart from general courtesies and socially acceptable practices.
