721  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Iomega Zip drive 100MB on: August 06, 2013, 11:08:53 AM
Hi all,

for purpose of saving my company archive I need Iomega ZIP drive for 100MB zip diskettes preferably with USB interface, but Parallel would do as well.
I had two of those and both broke down this week.

Cheers.

I have one here with a SCSI interface...

I got it to load using this link.

Is there a precompiled cgminer binary to run K16 for linux?
My github repo has the compiled cgminer in it. I haven't tested it on anything but my own Ubuntu 12.04 but presumably it will work on other Linux 32 bit releases. You would git clone it to your system. If using ARM (RasPi) or 64 bit you would  have to compile, which isn't hard at all. Just a bit slower. There are no drivers to install. With cgminer what we call drivers are actually just modules in compiled into the main executable.

The steps to compile (for ARM or not) are:
(go to the directory where you want cgminer directory created)
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install autoconf libtool libncurses-dev yasm curl libcurl4-openssl-dev pkg-config libusb-1.0

git clone https://github.com/bkkcoins/cgminer-klondike
cd cgminer-klondike
./autogen.sh --enable-klondike
make
Do that line by line so you can verify errors before continuing.
I just tested that on my system and it took only a few minutes to download and build.

Compiles and runs on my Ubuntu 12.04 VM without error, other than "no devices detected".
724  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BF Labs Inc. WILL process ALL backlogs by September 30, 2013! on: August 04, 2013, 09:57:46 PM
Not to worry.  They'll just announce a second-gen ASIC product, and push the remaining order holders to "upgrade" their order to the new product.

I hear Strombom has sold one or two.

726  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: August 03, 2013, 04:24:53 PM
Thanks.  I heard back from Burnin who confirmed the same.

I managed to get them out by EMS before the post office closed this morning.

Raspbian + cgminer 3.1.1 here.  I didn't have much luck with the libusb-based versions.
728  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: August 03, 2013, 01:21:16 PM
I had Zefir send my chips directly to me.  Now I need to send some over to Burnin, but I don't have his shipping address.

I sent Burnin a PM.

his website displays his addresse, in accordance with german law.

Can anyone who has sent chips confirm that this is the correct address to ship them to?

Y'all should make sure you don't have multiple DHCP servers on your networks.  Avalon used to ship with DHCP service enabled by default.

Imho it's normal and you have little chance of changing anything. Don't give too much about the numbers....

Thanks.  I guess I will leave it alone then.

The only other thing I am noticing is that the slower one produces 5% HW errors, and the other two are around 2%.  But even using avalon_auto doesn't change that, nor does running it at a lower frequency.

You could swap the modules around to isolate which is the slow one(s).
732  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] FPGA Controller for Avalon B2 (To replace my version 1.5) on: August 02, 2013, 03:35:48 AM
I need an FPGA Controller for Avalon B2 to replace my version 1.5 controller.

PM me your offers or post here.

If you know where to find it on the net I would appreciate it.

Why do you want to replace your 1.5 controller, if I may ask?
733  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy REOPENED! (previous customers only!) .175 per unit! on: August 02, 2013, 01:32:38 AM
I'm in for 20 to match my GB #1 order.

I'll take another 100+ if available.  Cool
734  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [CLOSED] Avalon ASIC chip distribution on: July 30, 2013, 03:53:42 PM
Received my 300 Batch 1 chips today.  Thanks.  They're sooo small; I was expecting a larger package.

Now I've gotta turn them around and ship them to various makers.  One of them will have to wait for my Batch 7 chips.

what did the item description say? And what amount did zefir put on it?

"SAMPLE CHIPS", 25 EUR

Sounds like good progress.  Donated.  Smiley

Do you think any of this work can be used towards an FPGA solution?
736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TERRACOIN ATTACK OVER 1.2TH ATTACK CONFIRMD on: July 28, 2013, 12:32:25 PM
I installed the 0.1.3-44 update, and it shows me at block 175200.

start your client with following parameter :
Code:
-reindex
(append it to your shortcut command), it should do the trick.

Did not work.  It got stuck reindexing 175009 (I assume that's where the chains diverge).

Deleting the chain and redownloading, it's now on 175038 like I hear it should be, but it still says "14 hours behind".

738  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Best Way to Power an ASIC / Free Power ? on: July 27, 2013, 12:23:22 PM
I'm considering adding some solar panels with a grid-tie inverter with net metering.  Unfortunately I'm not in a very good location for solar (in the US on a northward-facing hillside with trees).

This month my power bill was over $700.  I'm worried about trouble from the law (that they'll think I'm using the power for things they oppose.)
739  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 27, 2013, 12:16:33 PM
Having trouble pointing an Avalon @ Alt coins... any suggestions as to why?

Also, can't seem to connect anywhere that uses Getwork. IE pit.deepbit.com:8332 is socket error, same with Coinotron unless I add stratum. however, simply changing the port and etc for Coinotron that would normally allow me to mine alt coins does not do so, rather it just forces BTC. These mine SHA-256, is there some trick I am missing to mine more than BTC?

I have installed Ubuntu and eloipool in a virtualbox.  This works well with the test network for bitcoin.  It fails with bytecoin, an almost identical coin.

I had success using this setup to mine Terracoin.  However, it did not work for me for PPCoin.  I guess something's a little bit different.  I never tried any others.

I am currently running firmware openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-factory_20130519b.

1. Is this the most up to date / stable firmware version?

I run ckolivas' 20130703 release, and find it to be more stable:

http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/avalon/20130703/

It has proper fan control too.
