781  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to advertise cryptocurrency exchange platform? on: July 17, 2020, 08:26:24 PM
From what I know availing advertising services from crypto ad networks is a good way to go since the ones who are availing this are crypto related websites as well meaning they have specifically targeted your market of crypto users. This will help you a lot of if you want to save some time on both choosing what kind of segment are your trying to focus on and as well as save your time choosing different vehicles where you will promote your website manually.
782  Economy / Speculation / Re: TA indicates a bull run is coming on: July 15, 2020, 03:39:55 PM
TBH it's the first time I'm seeing this kind of triangle formation and it's weird to see but does this fall under the symmetrical type of triangle? Since those types are shaped like a triangular flag and it doesn't lay flat like this so I'm not so sure if there TA applies to both. If it is a symmetrical triangle pattern then your are right it already have broken the formation and right now it looks like a breakout. But what concerns me with this pattern is the lack of volume involved since it is one of the main indicators to confirm if Bitcoin is really on a break out or not.
783  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-07-06] 4th Amendment Does Not Protect Bitcoin Data, 5th Circuit Court Rule on: July 15, 2020, 02:18:33 PM
like this---it's purely risk-based. something like this would never hold up as evidence in a court of law. it's just a company deciding a customer is risky and refusing to do business with them.
Yeah, fair point, and it kind of brings use to what we were discussing in this thread on privacy: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5261956.msg54787543#msg54787543

As you say, this kind of probing that Coinbase does might not hold up in a court, and yet, Coinbase use it as evidence enough to deny people service, to lock accounts, and to freeze coins. It's also the exact same kind of probing that they are licensing out to the IRS, the DEA, and now the Secret Service.

Since they can't possible blacklist every coin which has ever been mixed, gambled, or is otherwise "unsavory" in their view, then their cut off for how far back they look is completely arbitrary and so easily bypassed as to make it meaningless.

I guess I'm just angry that Coinbase and other centralized exchanges are appointing themselves as bitcoin police and deciding how people are and are not allowed to use their coins. That's the opposite of what bitcoin was designed for.

What centralized exchanges act like the bitcoin police and what supports the free and open exchange of bitcoin? We should have this list available for the community in the exchanges subforum.

Having a list of these exchanges would be useless since even if we know they are in some kind of authority free operations at any point in time they may be required by the law to give out information against their own customers so it won't really matter if they don't have that kind of history or not. It always change and the authorities will always use the law to get every information they can from these businesses. The best way to avoid some kind of legal sanction from them is to not do anything illegal with these centralized services.
784  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: i am new here in this forum on: July 15, 2020, 12:59:08 PM
i am giving enough time to know all the issues of the forum and trying to follow all the rules and regulations of the forum.I'm eager to learn and follow all of yours advices.I know next to nothing about the technology, but believe passionately in the possibilities it offers in terms of socioeconomic opportunity for all.

My advice is if you want to learn everything about from cryptocurrencies its best to stay away from the forum politics happening around in BCT since it doesn't really affect you that much when it comes to talking to anyone else here related to crypto topics. It won't really matter if you don't know what's happening to this member or what happened to that group because it would just waste your time reading about their issues rather than reading actual topics related to crypto.
785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are DeFi projects next on SEC's watchlist? on: July 15, 2020, 11:23:47 AM
Well you can't really expect all kinds of projects in the crypto industry to run some kind of anonymity once they reach the shores of US. Since the US SEC is always strict about their regulations as well as the strict implementation of KYC and AML procedures. All of this is to be expected to all kinds of crypto projects regardless if they are new or not since if we are talking about tradeable securities and assets we can always expect for SEC to be sniffing around it.
786  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Evading queston? @mods/admins on: July 15, 2020, 10:07:45 AM
To my perspective the issued ban happened while the account is representing the company/entity while he is hired to do his/her work here in the forum so I think in this case the ban should be applied for the company not the user itself. Because in real life scenarios an employee who screw things up for the company doesn't only bring his name down but also the name of the company he is working for. But we are talking about a Bitcoin forum here so it's really up for the admins to decide if the same perspective will apply in this case since we don't even have proof that the company is evading or not using a different user.
787  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Hashrate vs price chart on: July 15, 2020, 09:16:13 AM
~snip

actually the short term changes in hashrate that are small like the one that we had recently during the weeks following the halving are a lot more complicated than just being affected by the price alone. for example it is possible that some miners had old equipment that they had to shut down but then they bought newer ASICs and came back hence the fall and then the rise of the same size.

this may also sound weird but i think it was possible that a mining farm was experimenting with difficulty manipulation. i posted the picture in the other topic in main board once, if you look at how hashrate dropped you can see it dropped very close to the adjustment and stayed low until difficulty dropped then went back up as difficulty went down.

This can be a possibility but chances are the halving of the block rewards is the cause for most small miners to shut their operations down and I think only a few of them are upgrading their rigs or even try to compete with the big boys with the halve rewards. This small term drop in hashrate for me was just a sign that smaller mining farms maximized their time before the halving occurred just before they shut their operations down. And I doubt that even if some of them tried to manipulate the hashrate just to drop the mining difficulty because only the big mining farms will benefit from it if this happen.
788  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: July 14, 2020, 09:54:38 PM
Awesome game between Atalanta and Brescia as both team played top football and honestly I didn't even notice that the referee is present in this game as the game was so fluent. Who would have think that Atalanta would score more than 5 goals ( 4 in 1st half ) after this crazy run they have it seems that they cannot run out of fuel and on the other side a team of Brescia who fought with everything they had and scored 2 nice goals.

I don't know why people are praising Atalanta's win against Brescia since we are talking about a team soon to be relegated here. I mean any in the top 5 or even 7 of Serie A can make them look mofe better as Brescia is the 19th team of Seria. Just last 2 weeks ago Inter defeated them by 6 goals to nil and after that they have 3-1 loss against Torino and the game before Atalanta they lost to Roma by 3 goals. Teams who are at least competitive in Serie A can score multiple goals against Brescia. Don't get me wrong on this one, I'm not saying Atalanta didn't do a good job but what I'm saying is they did a good job on a not so good team.
789  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Hashrate vs price chart on: July 14, 2020, 08:26:21 PM
If you noticed, immediately after the halving, the mining fee was  high and it still is during weekdays. So, even after halving of the block rewards, there is still enough incentive to keep the miners happy in form of transaction fees and if there are miners who closed their farms, I don't think they are many.

The mining fee was high due to users who are willing to pay more during that time, it might be because of P2P trades happening in anticipation of the halving. And based from the news I have seen a lot of miners have already closed down their operations that's why when we look at the charts you will see some temporary drops in Bitcoin's total hash rate but that thing quickly recovers as these old farms are quickly absorbed by bigger mining farms. But during this time when we see some drops in hashrate we can't really connect if there is a correlation between it and Bitcoin's price since Bitcoin was surprisingly doing good in terms of price movement even if there were higher fees and some minor drop in hash rate.
790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the police do if they seize bitcoin from criminals? on: July 14, 2020, 06:36:13 PM
I've read this article before that's why I know seized crypto assets are being auctioned off by the US  government.

The US government lost $1.7 billion by selling Bitcoin too early

The United States is likely to have missed out on around $1.7 billion by auctioning off seized Bitcoin $BTC way too soon.

Using back-dated market rates, cryptocurrency enthusiast Jameson Lopp built a handy portal to estimate the amount of money those sales have generated since 2014.

The article also mentioned that United Kingdom also does auctions when it comes to seized crypto but for other countries this might be held differently but from what I know non-cash items except for drugs and other illegal things are mostly held for sale in order for the money to return back to the government.
791  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would you buy/use Bitcoin if you knew its price would not reach a new ATH? on: July 14, 2020, 03:35:44 PM
There is still a lot of money to earn even if Bitcoin doesn't crack up to a new ATH. If we look at the prices now and how Bitcoin moves people can still gain 200-300% from it when it drops significantly. Yeah basically hodlers will be screwed if they are looking for new figures but if you are a user and a trader I think you won't really be affected by this at all.
792  Economy / Economics / Re: Rise in US unemployment. Thoughts? on: July 14, 2020, 02:37:01 PM
Before the spread of the corona virus unemployment had begun to increase, now America with the highest spread of the corona virus was certain
causing the number of unemployed to increase again. This is an issue that must be addressed immediately by the American government, I read the
article on the internet a few days ago there was a possibility that the American government would open up all industries to restore the economy.
That is news positive in my opinion, because there is no certainty when the vaccine will be found so it is better industry all industries immediately
reopened. Although the risk will remain, this is the fastest way to reduce unemployment and restore the economy.

There is no way they can address the unemployment problem first without solving or containing the pandemic problem. This comes one and two as the way I see it because they can't really force companies and their own government organizations to create new jobs even if they know it is unsafe to hire new workers. Generally if they want to solve the economy I think the best way to do it is by having a solution against the pandemic because they can't really have a normal economy when the pandemic is affecting them all.
793  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-07-02] New FCA Survey Confirms 2.6 Million Britons Have Dabbled in Bitcoin on: July 14, 2020, 01:16:15 PM
Dollar-cost averaging might be one of the worst advise a crypto investment can promote for you to get into their business. DCAs might be effective in the stock market especially in blue chip companies that are sure to grow but DCAs is not very effective in the crypto market. For one we are in a volatile market meaning you can't just set a fixed period where you can buy and expect in the long run you will profit from it. The second one is also connected to the volatility, due to the market being unstable doing DCA will just make you sacrifice good opportunities on where Bitcoin has botttomed down or it is pumping, you aren't really maximizing your money in this kind of method.
794  Other / Meta / Re: Chinese National Security law on: July 14, 2020, 12:16:46 PM
-snip-
That is why this forum does not implement KYC on this forum. because to prevent the spread of personal information of members in this forum. This forum is a forum that gives freedom to its members, freedom to give opinions, freedom to hide personal information and others. Most people in this forum hide their real identities with pseudonyms. Forum founder Satoshi Nakamoto alone until now no one knows who he really is. The national security law really will not affect this forum, because they will not get anything from this forum, except important information about cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.

You are just basically talking about what a forum should be. We really don't have this "freedom to hide our personal information" but a forum doesn't necessarily need our personal info to talk about one topic which in BCT's case is cryptocurrencies. So basically since we aren't sharing sensitive information here whatsoever and is just talking about crypto topics I doubt that the Chinese authorities will also put us under surveillance because of their new law.
795  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of fake YouTube giveaways on: July 13, 2020, 11:49:18 PM
From what I have seen at least in Fake Youtube Giveaways is these scammers don't bjy these Youtube accoumts or biy fake aubscribers but they are more commonly hacking these channels and renaming it on its own giving the illusipn thag they have many followers in their channel. Another thing I notice is the commoy livestreamed video in these giveaways is with Ethereum running an interview of their founder which is another way to fool newbies. Once see once or twice of these scams you will know how to avoid it.
796  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Legality of Bitcoin cross border trading in US on: July 13, 2020, 10:46:38 PM
I'm not sure how far can you define yourself as only a P2P trader of cryptocurrencies but with those amounts involve which you have said reaching up to 6 figures that might require you to have some kind of license as we are already talking about similarly to a small crypto exchange. Other than that there are also concerns about you receiving cryptocurrencies from abroad. Although it might not be classified as a goods or service this might also be under some kind of tax which I have seen before. The receiving of crypto as well will also be under capital gains at the moment you receive it and it appreciates in value. There is a lot of moving parts in the business you are looking for and I think it would be best if you consult to a lawyer about this one.
797  Other / Meta / Re: Chinese National Security law on: July 13, 2020, 09:41:55 PM
Since the forum is not implementing any kind of KYC or requesting any kind of personal information from its users I doubt that they would get anything from the admins here in the forum. If they threaten to have some kind of IP ban for the forum in their country then I don't think it would be any kind of lost to us since everything can be bypass easily with VPN on the users' side, similar to what our Russian members are doing right now where they are using VPN for them to be able to access the website. In short I don't think this new national security law will affect on how the forum will run since the forum itself doesn't carry out any personal info from their members.
798  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: July 13, 2020, 04:15:01 PM
Other players that could defend Lebron.

1-    Montrezl Harrell
2-    Marcus Morris Sr.

I think we can add them to the players which I previously mentioned, they would surely give Lebron a hard time.

Bro you are talking like the Clipper only needs to defend Lebron in order to win a championship but the truth is there are other Lakers that can also be a scoring threat if they decided to shutdown Lebron since there is also Davis who can be a scoring threat for the team and I think we've all seen that Lebron has dropped down to a more supportive role rather than the main scoring option for the team. Yeah the Clippers might shut him down in terms of his scoring but the truth is Lebron's play style isn't really about scoring first right now but feeding the rest of the team with some of his good passes.
799  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Hashrate vs price chart on: July 13, 2020, 03:07:01 PM
Here is an article explaining if there is a correlation between the drop in hashrate as well as the price in Bitcoin during the "flash crash" in mining power during September of 2019 where Bitcoin's price as well drop significantly. The bottomline of the article is that the correlation between the two of them is either non-existent or at least debatable since miners should be following the price of Bitcoin and not the other way around where after the drop in hashrate the price of Bitcoin quickly follows. This just dhow that FUD is more the cause of the drop rather than the decrease in hashrate itself.
800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Bitcoin Must Be Inherited on: July 13, 2020, 02:17:28 PM
I don't know if this is a standard on some countries but for my custodial wallet when I was sending my KYC information they also asked to list down to successors just in case if something happened to me so I think it is possible of what you are asking to be done by a custodial wallet company if they want to make inheritance something possible on their end. If not the best thing I can think of it through lawyers who specialized at wills and at the same time crypto knowledge since we all know private keys  and passwords is something sensitive in this scenario and I think trusting them normally like what you will do with wills is something achievable if the law firm also specializes in that kind of field.
