The main thing that bothers me about Ubuntu is the closed-source components and telemetry that you have to manually turn off.
It reminds me of Windows and some of the main reasons to switch away from it.

Small packages like ufw can be installed in a few seconds with any package manager, so it doesn't outweigh the downsides for me.

Again, my words should be taken in regards to one of the distros with a Desktop environment installed, and not the base OS alone.  Manually turning off the closed source components of Ubuntu also takes mere seconds, but uninstalling the bloat that gets installed with Debian/Gnome takes much longer.  Since Agbe is the target of my recommendation and he's been clear that he has very little experience with Linux, I'm assuming that he will be installing a Desktop environment via GUI features.

There is a way to install Debian and Gnome (or any DTE) without all the bloat by doing so manually from the command line using the --noinstallrecommends flag, but again I am assuming that is a bit advanced for him.

Considering his machine's lack of resources and his lack of experience I'm still convinced that installing Ubuntu Minimal is the best recommendation we can give him.

Ubuntu is totally giving me wInD0ws OS vibes, and I think they even have some kind of partnership with micr0soft.
Still, the user-friendliest and stablest Linux distro I've ever used.

If we're talking about DTEs I totally agree.  Ubuntu is basically Debian under the hood, so stability isn't really an issue in either case if you only plan to use the CLI.  In fact I would say that Debian is probably a bit more stable since it's essentially just the nuts and bolts needed to run a PC.  If a DTE is to be installed Ubuntu is the most user friendly Linux OS I've used.

Oh gawd.. how much dick have you come back to suck Cryptotourist?
I don’t suck dick Jay. Men don’t suck dicks, only women and faggots suck dicks Jay, literally and metaphorically.
nullius doesn’t suck dick either, also literally and metaphorically.

Having grown up in an area known for it's homosexual population I have known a few men who readily admit to physically sucking dick, but I would not categorize as the type to suck metaphorical dick.  I've also known plenty of heterosexual men about whom I would say the exact opposite.  I've also known homosexuals who are rather indifferent about being labeled faggot, homo, flamer, or, for that matter, cock-sucker.  Because they are men, they are comfortable with who and what they are, so they consider slanderous phrases of those types as a reflection on those who utter them rather than a slight on themselves.

Anyway, sorry to veer off topic, as you were.

I've built the transaction, and posted a QR code and a PSBT file to our Telegram discussion group.  One of you will need to add your signature and broadcast the transaction, but before you do please confirm the addresses and the amounts are correct.

Thank you both.

Hello nubcake_MeoW_ and FatManTerra,

I have made up my mind to invoke clause 3 and call this bet a draw.  Based on Zazarb's decision and LoyceV's appreciated input I think this is the best course of action.  Although I'm not convinced this is necessarily the correct course of action, I think it's best for all involved.

As I've said previously, I am not convinced that we've seen the last adjustment to the burn initiative, and there's still a chance for either party to win the bet.  However, if the situation remains as it is until January 1st a draw is how I would see it.  Since cause 3 did not indicate any timeline I have a bit of reservation about my decision, but I understand that there's little clarity, and it's does come down to subjectivity.  At the start this looked like a friendly wager and both parties were optimistic.  I will admit that the recent drama and conflict has played a part in my decision.  The last thing I want is to be responsible for more conflict and drama.  I do apologize to you, FatManTerra, I know this is not the decision you hoped for.  I do implore both parties to accept this decision as it is.

nubcake_MeoW_ and FatManTerra, please send me an address here or via PM so I may build the multi-sig transaction.  Thank you both.

Hello all,
I just want to apologize for taking so long to respond to this thread, and issue an other in advance.  I was super busy at work last week trying to prepare my team before I started a much needed vacation, and I've traveling over seas the last couple of days.  I'll be away from home visiting family and being a tourist in foreign land for the next couple of weeks, but I do have a secure machine and my wallets with me.  I just want to assure everyone that I am giving this bet serious consideration, and I'm not ignoring the situation not am I intentionally evasive.

I value LoyceV's comments and opinion, but I still want to give this bet it's due consideration before I make a decision.  Please continue to patient with me while think it through and consult with LoyceV and zazarb.

I have a tentative opinion based on what I read in this topic, but I don't want to influence DireWolfM14 unless he asks for it.

I would be very appreciative of your input.  You're one of the most rational and unbiased individuals on this forum.  I was hoping I wouldn't have to ask (I didn't want to impose on your time,) but since things have gotten so messy I was actually planning to reach out.  Thank you for offering.

DireWolfM14, would you kindly respond.

1. Will you refuse/ignore any submissions external to the original terms, as mandated by the original terms (i.e. will you uphold or disregard clause 6)?

2. Can you provide some guideance or ETA on your decision regarding the refund?

Hello nubcake_MeoW,

I'm reluctant to agree with you that the bet qualifies as a draw, at least not yet.  My reluctance is partly due to the fact clause #3 doesn't include a timeframe, and since the bet does not reach maturity until January 1st, 2023.

Bet terms:
Quote
3. If Terra Classic governance alters the on-chain burn tax to be less than 0.9%, or removes it entirely, the bet is considered void and both parties are refunded less an equal contribution to the escrow fees.

It's also fair to point out that FatMan does not wish to enter the dispute phase based on this specific disagreement, and would prefer to let the bet continue.  I think it would be unfair to make a decision at this time with that being the case.

Bet terms:
Quote
6. In the event of a dispute, the escrow provider will determine the ‘winner’ on their sole discretion but must rely on this agreement as the sole basis for their decision.

Yet another reason I'm of the opinion that it's best to let the bet run it's course is that the LUNC burn initiative seems to be in flux.  Initially it was set to 1.2%, before it was recently reduced.  I'm not convinced that we've seen the last adjustment, nor am I convinced that CEXs won't impose other methods to burn LUNC.  FatMan posted a message from CZ indicating that Binance might impose a voluntary option to allow LUNC users to burn at their discretion, and using those opt-in values to determine how to proceed.  I understand that since CZ's message was published Binance has chosen to burn their spot trading fee, and not impose any further tax on their clients who trade LUNC, but again I'm not convinced this won't change before the deadline.  I'm of the opinion that you still have a chance to win this bet, and calling it a draw might be as much a disservice to you as it would be to FatMan.

Update: This thread is ended, as i've got the answer from@seoincorporation's investigation, if you want to use his skills for finding similar thing like i did, i can vouch him.

Now, just need to wait @DireWolfM14 release the money to @seoincorporation

seoincorporation's responses were quite detailed and informed.  I agree that he's a good resource for investigating smart contracts of this type, and I will also vouch for him.  The funds have been released, thank you both for making this an easy deal.

Does anyone have a projected 7-9 fantasy points tight end player on their bench who is available to trade? I want to trade Tyler Lockett who is projected to give you 13 fantasy points and it might be more because DK Metcalf is out for week 8.

Also, tight end's bye week should not be week 11 hehehehe.

Juwan Johnson is available on the wire, he filled in for the Saints other tight end last week and had a good day.  If you only need him this week, it might be worth picking him up and keeping on eye on the injured starter.

Speaking of sucky QBs, something's going on with Patriots too... they seem to have benched Mac Jones mid game and Zappe immediately zapped a TD.

Jones looked like he was trying to force things too much.  He struggled early in the season, got hurt, then Zappe came out and won two games in a row.  That would make any QB nervous about his job.  Zappe just lobbed another deep ball, also for an amazing catch.

It's too early to tell if Zappe is really that good, or just having some luck.  The two games he's played so far were won on the ground, but those were a couple of nice passes so far this evening.

@DireWolfM14, @wheelz. You have very good insights and understanding of the NFL. Would it be possible if the 2 of you can share your thoughts and what might be your predictions on some of the games for week 7heheheeh.

Giants prediction was correct, thought on Greenbay Packers also correct! On the Giants I would agree because they have only 1 loss for the season and they play against the Jaguars. However, I was shaking my head on the prediction on Greenbay. I thought if Greenbay loses, it would certainly be not against the Commanders.

Haha, not!  Full discloser; the only bet I place on football this weekend was the Niners money line, with CMC to score.  Undecided

I should have taken my own advice and bet on them thar Giants.

Is this all it took?

That and Sasquatch Barkley!

See, people like you are the reason why people are hesitant to get into crypto.

Actually, it's scammers like you that make people hesitant.

CoinSmart and the OTC team as a whole is trying to provide a service to potential clients globally.

If you're a representative of coinsmart, why haven't you posted a link to their website?  7 posts already, and not one directing people to official site, why?  Why didn't you start a thread in the Services section with legitimate contact information?  And conversely, why did you start this scammy request in Currency Exchange, asking people for their KYC?  That's not how a professional representative of a legitimate exchange would behave.

If you don't like what you post, then simply leave it and go on with your day. Why do you have to deliberately have to comment rude and false statements towards another man's business?

If coinsmart is your business, add a link to your Bitcointalk user profile on coinsmart's webpage, or post it using the official twitter profile.  Do that, and I promise to STFU.  Otherwise, I'll keep exposing you as the scammer I know you to be.

Have you googled Coinsmart?  Huh One of the biggest OTC's in Canada.

Oh, my bad.  One newbie vouching for another newbie certainly means this is legit.  What was I thinking?  Lad?  I mean, it's not like I could create a new account named BinanceOTC without actually being a representative of Binance.  Roll Eyes

Or, is it more likely is that both of these accounts belong to the same scammer and have nothing to do with Coinsmart?
819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 22, 2022, 06:09:11 PM
Finally, my first yellow cap and it didn't even bump me several places up as I thought it would Roll Eyes, I guess the competition in this pool is outrageous and needs one to be on top of their game to be among the top.

Congrats on the yellow cap, I hope to get one some day, lol.  This is my third year participating, and I have yet to even come close.

I still think Gerrard wasn't quite ready, as I am sure I mentioned last season. I was of course happy for him when he took Villa, and it seemed initially pretty much a match made in heaven, and I know Klopp also eyes him as a successor (if not immediately, then spiritually).

Him helming Liverpool I believe is what the fans and club want, but they all know it's not going to be for a while more. Experience, wisdom, you can only buy those with time.

I didn't know much about Gerard until I heard the news of him getting axed.  But I am surprised by this discussion.  Isn't a bit premature to talk about Klopp's successor?  Am I unaware of something Klopp said that makes people think he's going to step down?  Because I really can't see LFC ownership forcing him out after one bad season.

Anyway, I'm close to giving up.  It's getting closer to a point where making my predictions at Superbru is starting to be a waste of time.  Good luck to the guys at the top.

NOOooo, that's not good news for me, lol.  I'm 7 places behind you at the moment, but realistically two or three good weeks could put either one of us in contention for a prize.  Not that winning anything is the whole point, it's just fun to gauge my predictions against others.  I hope you change your mind.

Well, this weekend's predictions have been rather difficult for me.  So many potential upsets, including MU keeping Chelsea from scoring at home.  It feels like any correct prediction I come up with this weekend is pure luck.
820  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 22, 2022, 05:01:09 PM
Giants +3 on road against Jax

That actually seems like a good deal to me, I can't imagine why the Giants would be underdogs in this game.  Bookies often give the benefit of the doubt to the home team, but the Jags have been so inconsistent so far this year.  I don't know what sports book your using, but SB currently has the Giants handicap set to +3.5 @ 1.76.  That might be the best underdog deal of the weekend.

Packers - maybe... Do the commies even have a QB this week?

Commies, lol!  Almost as good For-Skins.  I like the GB in this game, but only by a field goal.  I think -4.5 is a bit excessive.  Not that I think the Packers aren't capable, but they too have been rather inconsistent, and I never like a large handicap favoring an away team.
