841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | iPhone Beta is Live | on: June 19, 2015, 12:39:36 PM
Just to feedback, I'm having all kinds of problems downloading and opening the new Android version.

At the moment its pushing me past the page to enter my user name, and then it is adding the pin I enter to my username, therefore invalid.

Will forward this to the dev at g+ and post back here when he replies.

Have you tried the new version, hows it for you? I did notice some guy said on Google store he also couldn't get the new version to work.

843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many friends did you recommend bitcoin to? Did they accept it? on: June 18, 2015, 06:57:41 PM
Everyone on here can't understand why their friends didn't accept Bitcoin when after a few years of media coverage, hype and mainstream use many on here had to go through to accept it.

I wonder if you same people will accept http://getgems.org/   will be massive in a few years?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing for fools.
844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: should i move my ''saving'' to Bitcoin? on: June 18, 2015, 06:53:05 PM
WOW the confidence in Bitcoin on here is overwhelming....not.

Of course he should put that money into Bitcoin. What better place is there for the next few years?

Of course I would also advise on buying Gemz cause its going to blow up pretty soon.

I hope we can rapidly move from development to marketing. The space is red hot right now, I hope we aren't a little late to the party.

The point system even has some similarity to how Gems might work.

@ nextgencoin are you in one of the beta testing groups? Is pretty handy to be part of, the developers are pretty active there where we can communicate with them.

I guess I worry that even good avenues of discussion can end up hidden from the majority, a popular thread on this forum is seen by thousands, less chance of that in a closed group however open it is. I won't connect to Google+ cause I don't like Google and is known to provide backdoors to the NSA, its a principle thing. I guess I should connect to the Android testing but I don't see any problem sharing here to be honest.

He guys,

could we make a list of in-app use cases apart from those which are allready in the concept? just brainstorming for entertainment here. To make a start:

- there are those dice sites which are provably fair if they are implemented on the block chain. However, they are allways profit oriented of course. That is, they keep a certain percentage. Gemz might have a simple in-app interface for gemz dice and profits might be distributed on top of the "normal" airdrop...

- gemz is a counterparty asset. You can buy those assets with gemz on the dex. We saw that with the gemzcards. Could there also be a simple counterparty trading (or simply buying) interface for selected counterparty tokens?

- could we have a seperate gemz gaming app which uses gemz as ingame currency. Profits might be distributed in the airdrop.

- are there other established crypto models which could be integrated and even combined with attention economy models?

btw, reveal has finished their seeding round. They have give-aways for sign-ups in their app. We should also give free gemz to new users! Not only to those who invited them.

edit: and yes! go bitcoin! (something that reveal doesnt have, next to the airdrop (yes they keep the majority of the coins for themselves) and attention messeging). Reveal mentioned that they will invite prominent people to start their unsolcidated messeging model.... This! we need to do too. Competition is good. Adertisers will get used to buy coins for their adds...

There are endless possibilities, i think first we should focus on the main features, like the attention economy and airdrop/referral mechanism.

the attention economy  needs to have a purpose in spending economic gains it generated...

lol, who do you think you mean with "we" ?!

"We" are not the devs and are doing shit until now. Look at doge... "We" are the community and all we are doing is pushing the devs to get faster. You are are a good supporter and I see your posts all over.

My post was for entertainment purposes with the very low chance that we might bring up a new idea or combine information from the crypto scene which might benefit gems. Lets freely chat here about our wired crypto head ideas I suggest.... stay light, have fun. Important imho.

ps: no offence meant, I am quite happy with what I see here. Could just be a bit more community here. Will do more myself in the future

Karmala

I think what he is talking about are priorities thats all. I mean most of what you mentioned is pointless unless you have a decent amount of users. Who will advertise for example on a platform with 10,000 users? Priority number 1, build up the user count.

Ok talking about added value features I think really good blueprint to look at is Kakao talk. What they did was build a simple chat app into an ecosystem that is basically FB/ebay/whatsapp and more all in one brand. But this is a process, you can't slap all this stuff in an app and expect people to love it, brand loyalty takes time. I think this is the path Gems should take. Have a look:

http://www.kakao.com/talk

http://www.kakao.com/services/9

So you are right we basically need to build an fully developed ecosystem where Gems is the currency and many service branch out from that. But maybe for now we have to focus on getting users. I think get 50,000-100,000 users and then the discussion is more relevant.
848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | iPhone Beta is Live | on: June 15, 2015, 08:38:57 PM
all these avenues to chat off this forum, shouldn't we still have the main focus on this forum? Its not the same but If anyone followed Qora, you'll remember the thread was dead cause most chat was in on a chatroom. I think this forum still needs to be the central focus for feedback and discussion. The Bitcoin community has to be our launching pad and this forum is still where Bitcoin lives.

850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | iPhone Beta is Live | on: June 15, 2015, 12:25:20 PM
man this coin is a hidden gem. Feeling like I'm late to the party, but better late than never.

Price wise we are just on the launch pad. I bought a lot of my Gems at much higher prices than this but I still don't regret buying a single one. I think WHEN the app gets really going the price will rocket...any day now.

Dont wanna FUD, but when will be the app "really going", is there something that should make it go? Is there something community is waiting for, that should increase probability of "going"?

The app in its basic form is functioning i.e. you can add people, text them, send them gems and BTC BUT I think many people are holding back from inviting friends until the Airdrop (a daily drop to all active address of Gemz) and also the referral system (earn Gemz for inviting people) is fully active, I believe it is actually working but it won't show at the moment. So yeah I think the Airdrop is the real catalyst so new joiners can see they can get gemz, otherwise they can't really find out what is actually great about using the app. I think all should fall into place soon.

The point is to get the app going viral, that takes time like most messenger apps and a bit of luck and good mainstream press too.

How long did home computing and the Internet revolution really take?

it's wasn't a few years, it was decades. I got my fist home computer, it had 1k of Ram. I would say only in the last few years has the Internet become a product used as ubiquitously as a fridge or the TV worldwide. It took the smart phone to take home computers to the masses also. Digital currency in some form or another is with us now, it might take years even decades but it won't go now.
853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 17-year-old Bitcoiner faces prison for tweeting about... You guessed it! Bitcoin on: June 12, 2015, 04:05:14 AM
If he had worked for HSBC he could have laundered $billions for Mexican drug cartels (nutcases who also chop people to pieces) and got away with no criminal charges....

Just a dumb kid who tweeted something stupid, at most he should get some kind of community service.

Seriously send him to the groups he claims to support with a live link GoPro strapped to his head and make a reality show, 'Mohahamed meets the Terrorists'. I'll watch.
854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 17-year-old Bitcoiner faces prison for tweeting about... You guessed it! Bitcoin on: June 12, 2015, 04:01:50 AM
This entire problem could be solved if Twitter would simply get off their lazy asses and create word filters. They have computer coders that are intelligent enough so that tweets containing the word "bitcoin" can be filtered when used in conjunction with "terrorist related" text content.

Why do you want MORE censorship and clamping down on free speech?

So you know Libertarians and many of their interests are starting to come under the umbrella 'domestic terrorism'. So basically you are saying anyone with Patriotic Libertarian beliefs or simply critics of the government and the current financial system should be blocked from even mentioning Bitcoin. 1984 next stop..
855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 17-year-old Bitcoiner faces prison for tweeting about... You guessed it! Bitcoin on: June 12, 2015, 03:52:26 AM
I'm all for freedom but if someone aids an organisation like ISIS they should get into trouble. Prison time, no, how about deporting their ass thats the real solution here. You want to live with Raghead terrorists, be my guest, off you go. Liberals are too PC to offer this option. Why the hell should the tax payer pay for some kid to be in prison for 10 years. The best lesson would be to make these people live in these god forsaken countries with no hope to come home.

Of course as the US government has shown to of also aided ISIS then they should go too...
856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | iPhone Beta is Live | on: June 11, 2015, 03:34:02 PM

@gemzdev you must push promotion
if you seriously to growth this app
you can add give away to some people finish registration use mobile number
or you can add facebook conect and twitter connect

But the app isn't ready for it yet imo, some things needs to be added, the referral mechanism for active users at least.

Yes: the wide wide world outside of this here echo chamber would very much appreciate the bugs being ironed out first.

Top Tip: If you do use a sock puppet don't use the exact same phrase as you used on a previous post Nxtblg. lol

Whoever is doing the 'cartoons' for the development updates should be integrated into the app. There is one on the google play app description so maybe there will be some used? Its fun and could make the app distinctive looking, Asians love that stuff too...
858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | iPhone Beta is Live | on: June 10, 2015, 06:35:01 PM
Without any exaggeration IF this app is successful and what I mean by successful is just having the amount of users of say an average chat app of a few million. (I've seen at least 10 or more with way more than this) the price of Gemz would make Darkcoin rise look insignificant, it would logically even get into Bitcoin market cap territory but of course Bitcoin would get a massive boost also from the uptake of the Gemz wallet.

Uh, yeah...maybe...but my expectations are more modest. Wink

Comparison: If GEMZ were to go to $1 per, its market cap would be larger than Litecoin's is now. If it were to equal DASH's marketcap as of now, each GEMZ would be worth ~16.89 cents. That's nothing to sneer at - it'd entail a jump of more than 14:1 - but DASH had an advantage moon-wise because its market cap was much lower than GEMZ' is now.

Do this simple thing. Go to google play and type in (Chat) or maybe (Messenger) and you will find tons of apps like this that most people never heard of.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mico&hl=en

Imagine Getgems had even a fraction of that kind of user base. Compare that to Bitcoin that only has a million or two wallets worldwide....most alts probably only have 10,000 users max. My point is I'm not even slightly exaggerating the potential here IF it can become moderately successful as a messenger app.

860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | iPhone Beta is Live | on: June 10, 2015, 03:19:31 AM
Honestly I don't think this app is hype-able (price wise), even if a major bank said its gonna use GEMS instead of the dollar I still think on polinex it would have 2 BTC vol. The market cap will rise hopefully cause the user base expands rapidly. I guess this is good and bad but mainly I think its good as I'm done chasing hyped coins on rollercoaster trading.

I agree flatly. I was never good at trading myself: the only speculator's skill I show is in the area of long-term buy and hold.

But that said, the long-term promise for GEMZ is GetGems mainstreaming both GEMZ and Bitcoin. If it succeeds, the demand for both will go up hugely.

The markets 'round here are fickle things...Back in tha day, I was looking at buying a Bitcoin's worth of DASH when it was still Darkcoin, The price at that time was a hundredth of what it is now. I still remember looking it over, getting discouraged at the flatness of the chart, and saying to myself: "This one's going nowhere." And at that time, it was going nowhere. A lot of the comments about it outside of its thread were negative and centred around the instamine. So, 'way back then, DARK did look like a loser.

But sure enough, one the Fickle Force got excited about it...

(That said, I am not counting on GEMZ going pump-happy; I'm counting on organic growth over a looong time.)

Maybe someone is reading this cause Gems just went to 50BTC vol on Polinex, I'm sure some is selling but on the other side of the sell is a smart buyer.
