Yes: the wide wide world outside of this here echo chamber would very much appreciate the bugs being ironed out first. Yeah but some bugs must be coming out of the change that new features bring. I'll be honest here, I think there is a priority issue here or at least a development issue. The only feature that this app needs to get off and running is the airdrop and referral system, The airdrop will last for 3 years anyway so much can be developed over time. But this constant adding of refinements which ARE good but are secondary makes me think either 1. There is a problem of priority and secondary features are taking over the development or more serious 2. That there is some problem with implementing the main elements of the app i.e. Referral, Airdrop and to a lesser extent the advertising model. What I worry is that this constant changing of the wallet is more a stalling than actual development like NEM did. I worry cause I still think timing is everything and Gems is losing peoples interest it seems and has similarish apps snapping at its heels. It concerns me. My hope is within one to two months we have a relatively bug free app with the referral system and the airdrop in place. The rest of the development personally I think is secondary and can happen as the user base hopefully develops. Would be nice to see devs address this concern. I think he is spot on. Thanks. Airdrop and referral system are our top priority, we have dedicating a lot of effort behind the scenes to make it difficult to "game the system". Once these changes are implemented in the next version we'll activate the reward model. I have been thinking about the advertising model. Each ad could be interactive with the user. If the user sees the ad the user is paid gemz, but if the user chooses to interact with the ad the user could be paid additional gemz. I believe this interaction would be greatly beneficial to the ads effectiveness and therefore beneficial to advertisers. The advertisers will be willing to pay additional gems to the interactive users as the message is more effective. The interactivity would be something similar to a CAPTCHA but with a question about the ad...i.e. "what company has the best toaster for bagels"? - Answer is the toaster company that placed the ad. This would reinforce the ad's message in the mind of the user. I am currently in the ad biz, this kind of interactivity with the message is very valuable. If it could be done at some point this would be great, it solves the problem with 99% of online advertising that no one cares about it and has no motivation to care about it. It could be a huge selling point to Getgems further down the road if we have a massive user base. |

Don't know what the new version has, probably bug fixes and referral updates but it should be out any moment. I know about koinify, everyone has until july 30th to withdraw. I still have all my coins at koinify, but im wondering where is the best place to store bigger amount of gems? in the app wallet or counterwallet.io? I mean the only way for people to rob my gems from the app wallet is if they get access to my phone right? Can someone make this clear for me and shine some light if its better to hold gems in counterwallet or app wallet? What are the chances and possibilities for my gems to get robbed from counterwallet against the possibilities of the app wallet? I have the majority of my gems in a counterparty wallet that is not connected to the app, (not sure if that's offline or online either way its a wallet you make that not your app wallet address) And I use the app as a wallet and now only have a small amount in it. As far as I understand that what was advised. Counterparty is a safe wallet, I wouldn't be concerned and you can boost its security if you want, its all inside the counterparty wallet, log in and have a play around. |

hahha. Before I dismiss it though and please don't think I'm trying to push it but it seems like its related to YBcoin which actually does have a high marketcap AND volume on coinmarketcap. I don't like the dismiss something till I know for sure its junk. They clearly state that @YBCoin is their official Twitter account. That is why it is included in the tweet. Exactly so if they do actually have a successful coin then maybe this new 'asset' coin isn't a complete scam and maybe something is being lost in the translation. |

Yeah I saw that. Have a look at the website, I do like the idea of a Chinese based coin though. IF anyone can produce a coin to rival even Bitcoin and have the volume to push it is China...even if this one is a complete scam. |

I actually liked the last iteration of the wallet, clean and simple to understand. I'm not sure anyone would of struggled to see there was a BTC wallet as well if they swipe but hey whatever.
My big negative of the above wallets apart from looking overly complicated for the sake of it compared to like I said the last one is the Facebook blue used. Maybe its cause I hate FB but I think using FB blue for an app unless its just an option of many is a bad idea.
I do agree that the current wallet is simple and easy to understand. With a few tweaks it would very easy to figure out for a new user. The "receive coins addy" should be accessible from the chat screen. Suggestions: Transactions should be hidden unless called for by the user..much cleaner that way. *Maybe an in app feature box tutorial is in order to lead the new user through the features. As I'm not alone in my negativity I'll be a bit more blunt. The above wallets look kind of dated in style. They kind of look like the banners on some 90's website or something. Sorry.  To be honest I'm more worried about getting the airdrop started that the apps design. App design is bound to change over time anyway, most important is that it works at the moment. |

While I applaud the use of the blockchain for other decentralised services I wish people would see that MOST of these articles that are saying the Blockchain tech is useful are really just another concerted effort to negate Bitcoin as a currency. They all start with well of course Bitcoin is BS as a currency BUT hey we can use it for something good anyway. This is simply a development of the onslaught of negative press related to Bitcoin.
The best lies are the ones with half truths. Bitcoin is a currency and has the 'potential' to turn the world upside down and rid the world of financial corruption at the core i.e. the FED if its accepted by the masses. Don't believe any article that suggests to you otherwise.

Bitcoin exploding at 'some point' is a no brainer. Personally I think it will be a collapse of major currencies that will wake people up. Obviously no.1 being the dollar which is as we speak is in a process of collapse.

I would tread cautiously if I was getting the attention of big financial organisations. Its a tightrope act I'm guessing staying on the right side of regulation at the same time not annoying the crypto currency community that are suspicious of banks involvement. I wonder why banks are involved anyway, to copy ideas or to just try to control what they can't easily control? |

I think this would be a powerful feature. You can swap Bitcoin to Gems for buying ads and Gems to Bitcoin for other needs.
I think this would be a useful feature would like to know aswell about the possibilities. Surely just knowing the shape shift site exists for now? I mean a simple link to the shape shift page would in theory make everything user friendly. It would be good to include it in the app (though might clutter it) but that seems like a feature for further down the line once we get other things in place? I don't understand coding, but does this show shape shift is open source? Also i noticed Erik voorhees is Shapeshifts CEO, he joined one of the GetGems groups a while ago in the app. It doesn't necessarily have to be Shapeshift but such platform is an example of what i mean buy easy coin conversion instead of people doing the hassle of making accounts on exchanges on different websites. I think this idea would attract many people inside the Crypto place aswell since majority of them just wants Bitcoin as an exit which GetGems would provide in a easy way in a simple app, this would mean that these people would need to use GetGems more often and be pretty active to earn Gems through rewards which is in it's favour of GetGems and of course there are others that would swap Bitcoin to Gems to advertise and other useful stuff. Agreed, adding this feature using Shapeshift is something we are looking into. i think a lot of us prefer poloniex, maybe you can use both options, poloniex pays more per gem, there's a 1000 satoshis of difference, i think that in high quantities is a lot Polinex is an exchange, very different from what Shapeshift aims to do, i.e. make user friendly conversion of coins. Don't forget while most of us have used exchanges it takes some skill to know how to buy and not be scammed etc. Gems is for people who might never bother to use an exchange. For advanced users no one is stopping them using Polinex and likely more exchanges in the future. |
