941  Economy / Securities / Re: Selling 1 AAPL Share on: May 31, 2013, 07:56:57 PM
I want to make history by selling one REAL SHARE OF STOCK for Bitcoins!

Basically, here's how it'll work:
I have the share in DRS form with ComputerShare (Apple's transfer agent).  In order to transfer that share, I would need (at the minimum) your name and address.  To make the process faster, I would also need your SSN (or other Tax ID).  However, if you're not comfortable giving that to me, you can also be sent a form through the mail (by ComputerShare) and give them your tax ID that way.

This is not a pass-through with some shady Bitcoin stock exchange.  This is a real share of Apple stock!

I would want to sell this share for at least market price (at the time of sale) plus $5/1% (whichever is more at time of sale).

You will have to pay with Bitcoins or a wire transfer.  Those are the only two options.  No, I will not accept PayPal.  No, I will not accept ACH.  Stock transfers are irreversible, so I cannot accept any remotely chargeback-able payment methods.

Please PM me, post here, or message me on IRC (danieldaniel) if you're interested!

History is always fun. I'll offer 101% of whatever the market closing price today (5/31/2013) is. We will likewise use the first BTCUSD transaction to print from MTGOX on or after 21:00:00 UTC today.
Alright!  I would require escrow with John K (you send BTC to him, I initiate transfer, once I give you proof of transfer he releases).  I'll PM him now.

*handshake*
Great!  I just PM'd John.  Once he responds with the contract in this thread, you can go ahead and send the BTC to him (and your information to me).  I will then initiate the transfer and provide proof.

Bump!

I can't believe people invest in shady BTC stocks but not in real companies, heh.

50 BTC for a $733 order?  Hah.
947  Other / Archival / Re: [WTS] 1 AAPL Share on: May 30, 2013, 06:38:06 PM
Ive been turning the idea in my head of creating a Stock and ETF gateway to facilitate these trades.

Any thoughts please share
It would be a regulatory nightmare.  Much different than selling a single share.

Will I get a check in the mail every quarter for the $3 dividend or something?
Yes.  I currently get them, so when I transfer the share to you (with your address), you will get a check every quarter.  If you make an online account with ComputerShare, you can also choose to have it sent to your bank account directly.
949  Other / Archival / Re: [WTS] 1 AAPL Share on: May 29, 2013, 11:25:54 PM
Also, I should point this out:

I understand that you might not want to give your SSN/Tax ID to ComputerShare.  However, ComputerShare is the official transfer agent for Apple stock, as well as many others (such as CitiBank, Pepsico, Barnes and Nobles).  They are as secure (if not more) and trustworthy as any bank or stock broker.

If you wouldn't give your SSN to a bank or stock broker, this is not the thread for you.

Would you lend ~$66 to some random person you met in the street?
951  Other / Archival / Re: [WTS] 1 AAPL Share on: May 29, 2013, 10:44:01 PM
Now if only somebody offered GOOG! Wink (Sorry for OT.)

Good luck with the sale. If I didn't passionately dislike Apple I'd be interested Smiley
Hehe, no problem!
952  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: A real free vps? on: May 29, 2013, 10:40:17 PM
There's no such thing as a free VPS, I don't think.  I got one for $13 a year.  That's the cheapest I've seen.

The current share price is $444.95.  I would probably want to sell it for around $470, as I have to fill out all the forms to transfer the share to you.

You will have to pay with Bitcoins or a wire transfer.  Those are the only two options.  No, I will not accept PayPal.  No, I will not accept ACH.  Stock transfers are irreversible, so I cannot accept any remotely chargeback-able payment methods.

Edit: I'm reposting this in the Securities subforum, so if a mod wants to delete this, that'd be great!

957  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoinsports.eu bet sent from Camp BX - Lost forever? on: May 28, 2013, 08:52:02 PM
I understand what happened- but this is not safe for the USER and needs to be addressed. if bitcoin has any chance to be adopted on a larger scale, it can't be easy to simply "lose" you bitcoins.

What will happen is all addresses will be two-way and eventually I doubt people will even know their address, it will be hidden and simply an "account".

Shame on CampBX for not functioning like blockchain or a wallet.
This is not CampBX's fault.

Are you seriously suggesting it should be this easy to "destroy" your money?

I never suggested it was CampBX's fault. It's a simple fact that bitcoins make it easy to lose your money, and CampBX's job to protect the consumer from it.

I don't like the idea of sending a transaction and knowing their is a chance I could paste the wrong address, and lose thousands of dollars it the process.

A better way can and will be invented for bitcoins to be transferred (at least 2-way wallets across the board).

You'll be able to "link" accounts - which will verify automatically - like Google/Facebook login - and send that way.

I never want to have to see an underlying bitcoin "address". I want to scan a barcode, or login, and be done and 100% sure where my money is going with that transaction. There should have been more warning for my friend.

CampBX's job is to keep your money safe while they have it.  When you send it out, you have to make sure to copy and paste your address exactly (or read the gambling site, especially where it says to NOT send from an exchange wallet).

I'm not saying that there shouldn't be a better way, because there should, but it's not their fault (and not their shame).
