941  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: November 18, 2023, 04:31:36 AM
the things you said are very helpful for a gambler to stay on track and not overdo it. especially in terms of budget and breaks, these are two important things because many gamblers who don't manage their budget and don't take breaks when they lose or win end up messing up in the end.
It's true about setting a budget and having breaks, a gambler needs these because if you don't have a budget in gambling what you'll do is just you're going to gamble as much as you might be and you'll not stop until you can't pull anything anymore. And if you do have, you need to learn how to manage it because it will still cause a problem even if you have a good budget but you don't know how to manage it and yes, you're just going to mess up with your own money when you gamble it.

setting a budget is important to prevent gamblers from destroying their finances because they have set a limit on how much money they are ready to lose. and taking breaks from time to time is needed to refresh the mind and make gambling less stressful.
Then the self-attitude towards it is now going to be the next problem. When you set a budget and you don't even follow your own rules, that's how you get yourself a trouble and you need to take a break when you deal with it. Because aside from being stressed on it, what you'll make is another mistake over a mistake so take time to rest and do yourself some help through it.
942  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A tip for staying resposible while gambling. on: November 17, 2023, 10:47:56 PM
I know about sticky notes being placed on the computer screen or certain places in the home to help get you to remember important things that needs to get done.
Your technique is new to me but it has little similarities and benefits like the sticky notes. Thankfully, I haven’t got any problems with the way I gamble but for others who may have, it’s worth trying out. It worked for the OP, it could work for you as well.
Yeah, they're like that and if it helps you to remember things about being responsible or with the task that you need to remember like to gamble only with certain money you have then it will help you. But just as you have said that you don't have any problems with gambling so, that's good to hear you out that you are not dealing with such problems because unlike other gamblers, they need to be reminded all over again for so many times until they get better in remembering that they need to be responsible as they gamble.

Reading some of the replies on the thread,  it wouldn’t be surprising to have people who would stick the currency note to serve as a reminder only to later take it down when funds are low to use it to place new bets.
Someone might try it if it's going to work for them. Like what they say, if it works, it's not stupid at all because it's helping you. And if some other forum members try it and it's working on their end, then that only means that they just need to do as exact what he has said and look if the outcome will be the same as his.
943  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a mega winner say no to public presentation? on: November 17, 2023, 09:46:04 PM
I want privacy and that's going to be my decision if ever I win the lottery I guess that everyone can do that and request it to the lottery management while they can announce that someone unnamed has won it. It's funny that when I've seen in some news that a lottery winner has presented himself in a mascot. That's for real and that's the privacy that he's asking from the management and I think if they really are going to require the winner to be presented in the public and to the media, that's all that you guys have to do. Just put a mask and don't let any identifiable object be within you so the public eyes have no idea who the winner is.

But this is also can be done by management themselves and let it said that there's an actual winner where they'll just use someone to wear a mascot and declare that he's the one who's won today's jackpot. It can be a source of corruption and that's why for some countries that are known to be corrupt, they won't believe someone is a lottery winner unless it's being shown in the media with their bare and naked eyes. But for that winner, it's going to be a source to the robbers on who's the next target.

I have everything muted, so I almost never send reports to Volvo, only in very rare cases when teammates are openly feeding and ruining the game. Probably in the last month I sent a report only once.
We've got limited reports and that's why I am also maximizing the use of it. And when definitely a teammate is very annoying and does ruin the entire game, they deserve to get reported and it's just so satisfying when Volvo responds that one action has been taken with my reports.

In fact, it’s hard to rise in the rankings, even an excellent player, for example, with 3k MMR, will not rise to 7k because of the toxicity you’re talking about. It is better to calibrate to a very high MMR and, having gained a foothold there, continue to increase it.
Dude, you just said it so. It's for real, even if you are the best player, I think you can't survive to a region that has a lot of toxic traits. Dota 2 is one of the most toxic games globally. What we usually see rise in the ranks are those with parties and all of them are good and likely boosting each other.

Yes, Aster lost. IG has a very good composition, with such a composition they can continue their victories. I won't be surprised by this, but I'll be keeping a close eye on their future games
IG is now waiting for the finals. They're waiting on who's going to win with the match of Team Zero and Team Bright.
945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: November 17, 2023, 07:18:22 PM
That's so true, they're resourceful and thanks to all the videos that they're watching that helps them develop their minds and thinking without us knowing that they know more than us. That is the reason that you shouldn't even give them space to think about gambling or never show it to them because once they have seen it you do it, that's not going to stop playing on their minds on what you do and if that's for real money.
Of course, because child already has intelligence that is still very productive for development, it is different from us adults who are just too focused to the point of feeling dizzy thinking about life, thinking about family and thinking about being able to give happiness to the people we love.Grin
Children still have phase where the brain will respond to all feelings of curiosity and provide motor stimuli for how to find or do what they want without the need for parental guidance.
We can only guide what is good and bad for our children because we don't know what they think and what they want.
And that guidance should be with no stain and just pure because the minds of these kids are very pure and that's why we need to be careful with what we're introducing to them and what we're showing to them. Because as gamblers, if they see that to us and we're doing it, that's where the part that they might remember it until they grow old and justify that act of theirs.

As long as you monitor the tracks of your kids online and with the usage of gadgets, smartphones, laptops and PCs, you'll still be in good faith. But if you're the type of parent that never does daddy duties then you might be able to see that your kid is someday already doing things that you've been doing like gambling. That's the hardest part of being a parent that we see them do what we've been doing that we don't want them to do.
In fact, the use of technology in this increasingly sophisticated era is very important because they can learn and go with the flow in current conditions which makes it easier for anyone to use technology.
They need something called learning from an early age to avoid what often happened to previous children, where they were called technologically illiterate.
It just that we always have to supervise and also limit what they are allowed to do.
Yeah, I agree.
We always need to supervise our kids because we will never know what's on their heads and what's being fed to them by these technologies if we're not going to check them. Without monitoring, they can go with other activities that they shouldn't be introduced at a young age and that's why we need to be there at all times for them.
946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What I've learned so far as a gambler on: November 17, 2023, 06:35:32 PM
Don't forget about sportsbetting and it's not just only poker that you've got the power to decide whether you can analyze and at least add some percentage rate of winning. And for those that have been winning that much and don't know how to pick their bankroll from that part and continue going on with their profit, it's always the hard case in gambling.

You don't see yourself doing such because all you want to think about is winning. That's being over optimistic with your run and that's the usual minds of most gamblers. It's not only about having fun but it is also about winning and making money in gambling even though many folks always say that you just have to have fun as you gamble.

You want to have fun and don't want to make money. Those are two different things although we cannot push to win everyday but having the mentality of it's okay to lose, you shouldn't gamble and just do some other things to have fun so that you won't waste your money in gambling.
947  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: November 17, 2023, 04:16:59 AM
We must not underestimate the resourcefulness of kids, just as there are kids that find the way to consume alcohol before they have the legal way to do so, they can use similar tactics to find a way to gamble before they are legally allowed to do it.

So parents that are enjoying any activity that may not be for minors need to be very careful, as even if they think they are hiding their tracks successfully, one day they could find this was not the case and instead they have been a negative influence for their own children.
948  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Start with the little you have, you don't need millions of dollars to own BTC. on: November 16, 2023, 11:48:54 PM
While I agree with the whole thing about what OP has said but we need to consider the current situation if we're just going to buy with $10, $20 or $50 because of the fees. The highest priority will charge us with $11 or 227 sats/vB and that's a lot for the little investors if that's what they're going to do right now.

I am not discouraging to invest with the little that you have but save that money first and wait until the fees drop off and be back to 1 sat/vB. It's going to take a while but it won't be that long as we wait for it to drop. But it's true that you don't buy the whole thing when investing in Bitcoin because that's the wrong idea of many that sees towards it.

It's not forcing you people to invest on it and buy the 1 Bitcoin and that's why the fractions that you can invest with, just focus there and aim to have at least a few decimals of it if you ever started to like buying and investing bitcoin. This isn't just all about liking it but understanding that it's best to have it during these times because of the inflation, crises, etc.
949  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble till old age or not on: November 16, 2023, 11:26:17 PM
We don't know what's waiting ahead of us and that is because we have no idea if we are still able to do the things that we've been doing for so long. So if I get older and I'm still having some fun with gambling, why not? As long as I won't be spending all of the pensions that I have because I may look like an idiot doing that and spending more than what I can afford to lose.

So if basically I want to gamble at that time, I'll spend the most spare money that I have or if someone gives me money, I may take a bit from that portion because that's how. Like the old days, it's all about doing myself a favor and winning some and losing a lot more.  Grin
Honestly, as long as we know what amount we're spending to gamble and the way we're living by that time, it's no problem.

Whether you gamble or do any other activities that the oldies are doing, you're on yourself and only you can know such things that you are about to do. With the money you have, you're free to spend them everywhere but don't you forget that we're old by that time and can't work that much anymore.s

I get to experience that and whenever I encounter one, I don't prolong it and put that teammate into mute and I report them with communication misbehavior. Anyway, are you guys familiar with Grubby? I am not familiar with him until there are some articles that I've seen about this guy and he just became immortal rank recently. And looking at the SA open qualifier #2, they're about to end. I am not familiar with these two teams, Mad Kings and Invaders, they're now in the finals.
I have played 5000+ match of Dota 2 since 2014. If in every match I tried to explain incorrect behavior to everyone who behaves incorrectly, I would probably turn into a psychologist or something similar)) Nevertheless, some of my friends try to explain to others, but I won’t do that now. But you are probably making the environment better, thanks for that.
Yeah, it's even going to ruin your game if you explain it for every game and that's why there's the report button either for misbehavior or communication that we can easily press and send to Volvo for them to take action. I've been reporting as well with those teammates that don't play well because of how poor they communicate and toxic they are.

Of course I know Grubby! Ever since the days of WarCraft 3, where he was a legendary player 10-15 years ago. But in Dota 2, today he took 5,644 MMR in just over a year, which is impressive.
I didn't really know him but the roots was there and I'm happy that he's able to reach that rank while if you go in some specific regions, you will barely reach immortal if you play such roles especially pos 4 and 5 and you know why is it. Well, yeah, it's all about the toxicity that we're getting from random teammates.

Closed qualification for ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 has begun for China, which runs from November 16 to 18. Teams are fighting for one LAN quota. Tean Aster started with a victory
, I think in the end they will take this slot, but for this they need to win 2 more games.
Team Aster is no longer the former roster that they had during the qualifiers of TI and it's completely a different roster they have. What I think this slot will be taken by is by the Invictus Gaming.
951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 16, 2023, 10:12:53 PM
Will this roster that they now have is going to be the roster that they'll win their 2nd NBA championship? Because the last one that they have was from 1951.

This roster is good, but to think that they'll win a championship, I think that's too early to expect. I mean, they need to improve their ranking first in the playoffs. Last time, they had a first-round exit, if I'm not mistaken. So maybe one step at a time, this time their target could be getting to the WCF or just the Semis first.
Yeah, they need to improve first but it seems that they're proving themselves last year was a good start and all they need is to maintain the current roster and if they can add more, that's much better. Adding with more fine and someone who's got more experience during crucial times like in the playoffs. What they did last season was actually good because was it the first time again that they're back at playoffs?

The Lakers are “showing interest” in Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, & Alex Caruso. Basically, the Lakers are going to try all they can to get a win out of the Bulls need for a rebuild. With Anthony Davis having shown interest in going to Chicago, something big could be happening with this. Getting Zach LaVine and Caruso while dumping Anthony Davis would be a huge win for them in my book.
I've seen this but if they're going to take any from those, it's best if they'll take DeMar DeRozan. I think that everyone is going to agree with that. But anyway, we've got different thoughts on who's going to be better with them and it's them that's going to decide, so let's see the development on who's going to be taken if this interest becomes reality.

Agreed I think every team that has Harden leave is almost a net positive for them.  Harden is good no doubt but he isn't a type of player that makes his team better.  Looks like his teammates get disinterested when he is on the court.  Think something is off with his ego and/or personality which makes it not work on the court.
Probably with his ego, much better if LAC rebuilds or shows interest of trading him off with someone from the other team just to get rid off him. Because if this continues, the problem might be bigger and they'll not be able to reach playoffs.
952  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 16, 2023, 12:22:23 PM
~snip~

I guess the penalty does seem a little bigger when you look at how much money he makes per game. According to Woj, Draymond Green is going to lose more than 3 quarters of a million dollars due to this suspension. I don’t care who you are, that’s not peanuts. I still think it should have been worse, but I’m glad it will sting a bit.

Woah, that's a lot and yeah that's already a hit on him and if he's going to feel that much then he'd be careful with the next time he reacts with situations like that.

I love it, a silent underrated team. They're now in a 4 straight win and they just beat the Lakers for the second time this season. What made it better is they won in LA.
They've been consistent and I like this team now. Last season, they ended up greatly, and for sure they're going to end up better this time. Just more chemistry and this team is going to be liked and noticed by most NBA fans. Will this roster that they now have is going to be the roster that they'll win their 2nd NBA championship? Because the last one that they have was from 1951.
953  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 16, 2023, 06:28:17 AM
Harden just can't accept the disaster he brought to LA. If he gets out and does not help fix the problem, that would result in a bad reputation for him, which is not good considering he is still a high-paid player. So, next time he signs a contract, he might get a lower salary than Westbrook.
He's aware of that and there's no other way to go but to just play with the team and be the better him. Get alongside together with the other key players and then help the team to get wins. Attitude beats talent and that's what he's going to get with that type of mentality and actions he's bringing to the team. He's expected to bring the very best of him and contribute to the team but that's not happening as we can see.

What we heard probably is just part of their frustrations.
A frustration indeed but if it gets serious and that leak is for real, there can be some issues again for the LAC and to him.

A team that is consistent in the playoffs is currently on a long losing streak. It's really frustrating, but they could end that slump once they beat the Rockets in their next game.
Meta is changing and these players who have been considered superstars really don't get along properly. A team that's with this roster should be on the top but that's not happening because everything has changed now with the league if it's about these roster shuffles. I'd still say that chemistry is way better than of combination of superstars.
954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 16, 2023, 04:09:29 AM
Looks like the NBA made the decision to suspend Draymond for 5 games for his choke on Rudy Gobert. Honestly, I was expecting at least a 6 game suspension, but the NBA is pretty lenient when it comes to fighting (in my opinion).
That's better than just 1 game. Well, no matter how many games the suspension will be for Dray, it's not going to matter anymore to him. He's always this aggressive and that's usual.

Draymond has a long history of this though, so I would’ve liked to have seen him get a little bit longer of a suspension.
Yeah, much better if it's tougher because he's known for brawls like this and his attitude toward these troubles. But then, if it's already decided then that's much better than having lesser suspension at all. Is there any fine that's going to be sanctioned to him? With these fights, usually they get higher sanctions and fines, right?

Is that true that James Harden wanted out of the Clippers in just 5 games? or is this a rumor?
It's said that it's for real but not until it's official, then it remains as a rumor. But you know with these locker room conversations, most of them are real.
955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 16, 2023, 01:32:52 AM
TBH, this rumor is huge. Just after 5 games, he wants to get out of the Clippers already? Like I said, I will not be surprised if no other team wants him anymore after his contract this season because of attitude problems. It's my first time hearing that the Saudi Pro League wants him to play, and it's funny. Cheesy
Who was that guy in the Mavs that commentated about this thing with Harden? He just said the reality of what should sink in with Harden. This is an attitude problem that teams shouldn't condone. If he wants already out of the team after just few games, he's messing around and soon it won't be surprising if no teams want to take him.

I remember some players that have retired because no teams want to take them anymore and he could be on that position as well as his retirement will go too early. But even with that, he'll just take the money with him and the contract until it expires. I'm not sure if the $900M deal is also for real in Saudi Arabia.

But it seems that it's just like a bluff because of how fun it is going with Harden. Honestly, there are two players in my eyes that are becoming the memes material these days, one is Harden, second is Poole.
956  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a gambler be a good bitcoin trader? on: November 15, 2023, 11:28:32 PM
It is actually not because you are a gambler, you are good at market analysis or good at all ways of trading. Well, you can gain success if you really want to become a trader and forget about the idea of gambling.
While that's true and everything can be learned on your way and that's what you just have to remember. Being successful is what everyone is achieving of whether it's with gambling or with Bitcoin trading. But i think it's a different thing with trading, it's like that you're having the feeling of more successful on it when you win your trades.

And that is because you're applying more strategies and principles to it to win such trades. Not just all about luck or what not and you have to analyze what you do. That means that whether you're a good gambler, you can also be a good bitcoin trader. But it doesn't make sense that if you're not going to learn or study what you do.

Because everyone who has become a good bitcoin trader came from nothing to something. And gambling is like your extra session of learning trading because of the logical thinking that you can get from there through taking and managing risk that you are able to.
957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: November 15, 2023, 10:33:13 PM
Right now, I am watching the SEA qualifiers for the ESL Kuala Lumpur and the game is with the most hyped SEA team, Blacklist Rivalry against the Team Tough of Mongolia. 29 minutes on the game now and it's like that this is going to be a game for Team Tough as they have spectre and pandaren brewmaster that has both radiance. While for BLR, they've got position 1 templay assasin that seems not going to be appealing on the late game.

Quite possibly the worst game to play TA on. Imagine going against a brewmaster and a Spectre that can just send units to you and burn your refract instances. It must have suck big time for TA to play on this game knowing that her main survival kit is being countered by two heroes with the same item. Thankfully Team Tough slipped off and missed the opportunity to convert the lead to a win. If I was that TA, I would probably raged quit and never looked back given how toxic the brew and spectre combo is against me.
But guess what? They've won against that lineup, it's true that with one mistake, the game table can be turned wholly and that's what happened. It's still the experience of being patience and looking for a situation that the opponent can slip and Team Tough did that while BLR's patience paid off. They're now qualified to closed qualifiers.

It wasn’t always like this, I used to communicate and want to win with unfamiliar topics, but then I realized that the percentage of adequate people is small. And the screams and dissatisfaction of my teammates affect my games. Now I have ruled it out. Over time, it will probably be worth reconsidering leaving on those who do not scream and behave appropriately. This way I can achieve higher MMR, probably.

ana and other. To be honest, I don’t remember the nicknames anymore, but reading the news about esports wins, this happens regularly.

I've played a few games this week and whoever picks Muerta almost always wins. It's better to ban her right away.
They didn't leave the scene but they have moved from SEA region to SA region. I think that this is like the new meta for those teams that have found no success with their runs for the past years. Honestly, I've seen the glory days of Boom Esports that when they were dominating the lan tournaments and I think they even became a major champ.

But out of nowhere they didn't kept the players that have been good in tandem that had brought them success and then didn't invest that much anymore in building the team. Maybe this run of theirs with the SA players will bring them luck as it's like one easy region for the pro players that they have chosen.
Yup, it appears the org is completely switching to all SA since they also have SA teams in other esports scenes like Valorant and PUBG Mobile.

Looking at the players they chose, on paper, they should be making it in the top 3 SA teams at the minimum as their roster is mixed with players from EG, beastcoast, and Thunder Awaken who all participated in TI.

The only team I know that's stepping out of the scene is Evil Geniuses since I remember reading news about them potentially dropping their other rosters.
Yeah, EG has already dropped the bomb and their roster. After having a successful run in the NA and were able to make a TI title with their perfect old roster. The next consecutive years were no longer move for them and I think the experiment for this last season was like the last chance for them to see if their journey on Dota 2 will still be good.

They're good because they were qualified in TI but looking at the ending and run of their team, it wasn't so good and even the prize pool, they're not good at all. I miss this team now, the old roster from NA together with teams like Fnatic and Digital Chaos, etc. There are a lot of them and all the other players that have been gone all of a sudden.

Going back to this roster of Boom Esports, that's true that they're like one of the top 3 so they should be fine if given three slots is always done to them for most major tournaments that are coming this year ending and for sure a lot, next year.
959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do Owners of betting companies bet? on: November 15, 2023, 08:35:39 PM
Do owners of betting companies place bet on their own platform or is there a policy specific policy that restricts them from betting. Do you think that there would be conflict of interest or that it will be unethical if owners bet on their own platforms. These are the questions that I am seeking an answer to.
I think that there's a conflict of interest if they do that with their own casinos. If you see one of them does gamble on their own platforms and they are advertising it, you know that there's always the catch that can be done through marketing. And that's why they're doing it for the sake of their own branding and not for them as they gamble.

And if they gamble somewhere else, in other casinos, there's a tendency that they're trying to get familiarized with other casinos for them to see if there's any gambling experience from those and to what they own. The comparison will be there for them to check everything out and if there's anything that they can apply or change to their casino, they will have to.

That's why we don't know if they do or not, and if they do then there goes those possibilities that we're talking about. But I guess that most of them are just doing it mostly for business and never do it for their own pleasure.

However, when an individual is financially stabilised it paves a way to an undiluted success and keeps the person above unrealistic expectations.
That depends on the person that's into that state and situation. Usually, it's just all about being free from financial burden and that's what's being kept as the goal for most of the people. We just want to have a good night sleep without having to think of the debt during the night and then we wake up with still the same problem.

For the majority that aims to have a financial freedom, we think that when we reach to that point, we won't have burdens anymore. But you know what, as I've said that it depends on the person. As you become free in financial burdens, your lifestyle might increase and that can cause some problems in your way.

That's why whenever someone achieves that goal, it's important to still keep your low in the ground and live within your means and not beyond your means.
