Seriously guys, step back & look at what's going on:

Bitcoin is centralized, soon won't be cheap to use, requires middlemen/payment processors/trusted third parties, is getting regulated, number of full nodes has been falling over the past couple of years...
And it clearly doesn't scale Sad
What's left to salvage here (unless, of course, you're an early adopter)?
Wouldn't it be smarter to start from scratch?

Probably true Smiley

Wouldn't it be smarter to start from scratch?

Isn't that what alt coins are?  Wink even though many have some unique and more efficient algo's etc. none have been able to catch BTC...
1502  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 18, 2015, 09:21:45 PM
I think soon we will see a new BOAcoin coming into circulation  Grin The way all these banks are jumping on blockchain technology. So long as they convert it to BTC  Shocked
1503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: December 17, 2015, 01:25:27 AM
To be fair, we should say that sia is in beta as well.
*Alpha*

Officially, beta.

Maybe someone has been calling it a beta for the last six months or so, but it's been functioning like an alpha..

besides -

Q:"When will this project comes out of it's early Alpha state ?"
A:"It's hard to say for certain, but we've been making terrific progress and plan to expand our operations greatly in 2016. That means hiring employees, forging deals with companies, and of course continuing to improve Sia's core algorithms and user experience."

https://www.zapchain.com/a/l/we-are-the-founders-of-sia-a-decentralized-token-based-storage-system-participate-as-a-user-host/Ql91m5Ikwd
lol, but 2016 is right around the corner now  Grin looking forward to a Happy Sia New Year! 2016

You probably were not corrected when you ask your question referring to it as Alpha for the sake of argument Wink
1504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: December 17, 2015, 12:02:58 AM
Interesting project. I had briefed over this a while back but did not go deeper into Factom at the time.

Nice to see its got MS Azure interest now.. wow! nice  Smiley

Will be watching  Grin

1506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: December 15, 2015, 12:07:10 AM
Plus I see a potential for the coin to be used for other things aside from Sia storage  Smiley

Enlighten us!   Smiley

Well I could sell you anything..... for X- amount of Sia coin, as is with any other coin. "Now excepting SIAcoin" sorta like bitcoin  Grin It has a value too. Unlike most other alts that come and go quickly, Sia should be around for a long time and have a worth (and name brand recognition), which because of its base purpose of use, and should foster other forms of trade for the coin. One would think  Smiley

OR could be tied to sweeten other deals... I sell new and used computers. By a pc from me and receive 500,000 free SIAcoin for your cloud storage use. lol
1507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: December 14, 2015, 10:44:08 PM
Really the coin price is almost irrelevant right now unless you are buying for its intended use, which is to buy storage space. But like many others, I see the coins price rising again based on the user demand one day as Sia becomes more market ready.

So with that in mind SIAcoin is still a super investment opportunity, especially at its current low price. Which it will go back up I am confident. I am sitting tight on my coins, and also for storage use.

Where many coins have been mined and it seems like a lot now, I believe the coins will get purchased quickly once Sia goes mainstream. Plus I see a potential for the coin to be used for other things aside from Sia storage  Smiley

Guys a few questions :

How many mh/s should one obtain with an r9 290 ?

How /where can one see the total GH/S of the network ?

Are there any pools ?

Browse around in here: http://sia.tech/

And here is Sia explorer: http://explore.sia.tech/

As far as MH I was mining on a 7970's and getting a lil over 500+ MH per card, if my memory serves me right  Wink about the same with good 7950's

No Pools. Solo

2013 Christmas was the only year I did not have to break out the charge cards for shopping...lol I cashed in nicely at just about 1,000 price btc, oh how I miss those days... even though it was short lived  Grin

And this new "CPU mined" altcoin called Secure Coin I had been mining all year since launch 2013, was massively pumped at the same time BTC was rocketing.. so scored on 2 fronts.. was a great Crypto Christmas  Smiley

Enough reminiscing,  I think we see 450.00 tonight  Grin
1511  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 13, 2015, 03:00:18 AM

This train aint driving backwards. It only makes stops where some passengers get off and others join the ride.
Question is how far are you planing to travel or you plan to get out at next station?

I've got a sleeper next to the bar car.  Grin
lol, that's very convenient  Grin
1515  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 12, 2015, 03:07:40 AM
IDK but the psychological effects of seeing 500 and the attention BTC might get could help hold the price up... just a thought. I know I would be astounded if it does lol
1516  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 12, 2015, 02:59:08 AM
I do not see anything out there going on that would cause a real turn against bitcoin. More bright spots and positives for the future than negatives.  For sure  Smiley

Also, the bock size debate has even possibly found an alternate option,,, without a hard fork.... so that helps too a little
1517  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 12, 2015, 02:55:01 AM
Up 9.7% in 24 hours! This is not sustainable. Buyers are slowing down. If you want profit, better take it now. Correction is imminent.

Every $10 you call for a correction.  I guess eventually you'll be right...

Eventually yes, but I won't lie about it. This shit fucking hurts. I hate being wrong, and I hate losing money. I am gonna stick this out. I'm not taking this loss. The crash is coming. Maybe it will happen tonight while you are asleep. Better cash out now. You may wake up tomorrow wishing you had.
Even if it does crash... so what  Smiley just hang tight till next pump or real rise based on consumer demand,,,,it seems to always come back up. Even if people buy in right now, eventually they will make their money and profit back. Just a game of patience I think.
1518  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 12, 2015, 02:46:08 AM
Any best guesses as to what is fueling all of this?

I guess its the saggy stock markets and the constantly growing interest in the blockchain?

Plus North Carolina is now a bitcoin friendly state   Wink lol

More than NY anyways  Grin

1519  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 12, 2015, 02:40:35 AM
500 is on the horizon now  Cool
1520  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 12, 2015, 12:07:00 AM
I don't get what drives the price.

My guess is that BTC is the latest speculative financial vehicle in China.

One thing that is missing in the west is the financial worldview/partyline of the Chinese press. The traditional places that Chinese like to put money in like real estate, new business and the stock market are kind of meh at the moment.
ya, so much for the stock market today lol makes btc look attractive. meh is right
