That's sounds about right the block height. I was going to link you to the block explorer but for some reason I am not getting that page up atm? but will post as soon as I do. There you can check all stats about SIA. Do you have any SIA coins to test your wallet with? You got to at least upload a little music to your SIA wallet Ok, thanks. I'm up at 5 peers now. I'll probably mine some coins later, currently I'm mining ETH and SHF on my rigs.... I'll probably buy some on Poloniex to give it a try...lol SIA explorer http://explore.siacoin.com/post your wallet address in here or pm me I can shoot ya 100 coins or so lol I'll just buy some, to help the market out....lol How do I encrypt/put a password on the wallet? I'm lazy at the moment to look through the whole posting...lol Unfortunately, wallet encryption is not available with 3.3.3 looking for it in final version of .4.0 In the meantime just be careful lol

I know it's in beta but I'm not working for you...so until stuff like this is ironed out don't wonder why no one is using it.
There are thousands of people who were able to download Sia and get it working. And on average they have uploaded less than one file each. I'm sorry that you are having troubles, but if you refuse to help us figure out what the issue is, we can't improve your experience. Maybe you should come back in 3 months. The beta is working fine for many people, and we are grateful for all the help that they have given us. We couldn't have gotten this far without the mountains of feedback we've received so far. And some volunteer developers have started making non-trivial contributions to the proejct, which is going to help significantly in the long run. I for one am going to focus on building Sia for the needs of the people who are most excited about it and willing to tolerate all of the turbulence associated with the early stages of the product. They are the users who are most important to me, and they are the ones who will get their feature requests prioritized. I have to somewhat agree with nextgencoin. I have a certification in Computer Networking, specializing in Cisco Systems (Router, Switches, LAN and WAN). I can't even get the wallet to work and so I couldn't mine it, that why I'm focusing on Ethereum and the Eth clones with DAPPS. I've try all in the tutorials, read me's, open ports on my router and machine, and even turn off my firewall. The upnp needs to be added to the wallet, as much as some people will complain of security issues with upnp, but just connecting to the internet is always a chance of a security issue and anyone is naive to think otherwise. The decentralized storage of this project need to be promoted more effectively. I like it's a working model, but that won't matter if people aren't convinced and trust the security factor of it. The wallet does have upnp support, although that might be new to the 0.4 version If you truly are cetified then you would know that saying "it won't work" is useless. What won't work? Won't run, sync, upload, mine? Check your .log files for errors, take some initiative. You're certified you know how to do this. You know the logic programming Cisco System is totally different than computer logic of a pc, I hope you know this. Cisco Systems is using more GUI now a days. The irony, I just ran the wallet and all of a sudden it can sync...Ain't that a funny thing....I didn't open any ports and have my firewall on with 0.3.3.3....I guess I'll retract the wallet not working, my apologies.....Just weird I guess for it to work all of a sudden.... Still, the promotion part needs to be address more and more demos on how the system works in general to the general public. Hey that's great! see learned something new already about SIA, takes a little while sometimes to begin syncing as far as upnp, you will only need that if you want to host. Which we all want to do that eventually. But is not needed for normal wallet use. The promo part and that step by step info is on the way in near future. EDIT: If you want to play around with hosting now, 3.3.3 you will need to manually open ports in your router or DSL modem etc. for ports: 9981 and 9982

The upnp needs to be added to the walletUnless I am mistaken, I believe that is coming in next version release. The upnp. Yes its been a pain in beta not having that feature. Its a bit of a challenge to have all things in order (the correct wallet, hosting capability/ports opened, and then the mining side can be tricky starting with the correct mining software) but it all does work. The devs understand the user friendly side is not where it should or will be. Each version release has addressed many things towards improving the use of SIA. Hang tight! Don't give up!

I think a lot of what's been sold is miners recovering cost while the getting was good, as they were the only ones that really held the SIA coins for the most part, with a few exceptions of course, or people with no real interest in SIA other than to sell their coins they bought before Poloniex. So we hung around 20-22 and we're hanging 13-14 now. not a bad leveling out. A new version release and a few good speculators checking out SIA, I see buy orders going back up. But its not all about the coin, but the price will for sure be measured by use and demand for storage, as someone mentioned earlier.

Its Official This is MinermanNC , as of September 1st 2015 I have regained ownership of this account which was password hacked, stolen then sold. A sincere thank you to shorena for all that he has done in listening and asking the questions that needed to be ask, doing a little legwork to verify both sides of the matter and keeping himself available to help. Without him I would not have my account MMNC back again. He was there and so graciously found a way for us to reach a mutually agreed solution where both parties were satisfied. Forever grateful! shorena Also, to the fellow who bought my hacked account, only known as "X" to me simply - thank you for not degrading the account while in your possession and also working with shorena as you did. I realize you were a victim as I was. No hard feelings! Best of luck to you. I think we both learned a lot from this experience. Lets all get back to trying to make Bitcoin and bitcointalk.org forums a little better place to hang out and keep crypto alive and well! Hats off to shorena Truly a trusted member here. THX MMNC

I am considering joining luckyfop campaign. 0.08 for 35 posts a month.
You are good because the account will have more activity points. I am also fine with contributing a 25% of all signature payments towards your payment.

Agreed on 0.375 BTC then. [50:50 instead of 60:40 on lost amount] No, I don't want a USD adjusted rate. It keeps varying, so please keep it independent. I bought it at 0.75, no USD was involved. I don't exactly care where bitcoin is at now from $50 to $1000, nor I live in the US. Dollar is very insignificant for me, so I'd say we deal fully in Bitcoin. I have not even attempted to cash in on the account - sell it or participate in a campaign. It is bargain, if you see that the account's current market value is higher than 0.75, I know someone who is willing to buy it for 1.5-2. No idea about the intention, so I am not selling it to anyone till this is settled. I am also willing to buy it (your stake) from you for 0.375 BTC. (not right now, may be in a month, when I get some?) I am still assuming that you didn't dupe me. It would make sense, but may be you are not that kind of person. Pushed up your activity. I had offered to split his cost of .75 paid. which would be .375 since we both got screwed and both made mistakes resulting in where we are now. He came back wanting .45 so I have a little problem with that amount as it stands. Also, bitcoin is up. on the day he bought my account BTC was $248.00 today its $278.00 so my offer to split based on his purchase price is $93.00 dollars. Now based on todays BTC price my offer would be .337 = half of his original purchase price in terms of dollars. That's what I was saying about "keeping the value of bitcoin in mind" ok, just wanted to clarify what has been said. Also I am selling my home but that can take time. Thought I had a buyer but the deal fell through on their end. That's just the way it goes. I am not a rich person. $100.00 dollars is a lot of money to pull from a weekly budget, plus I am single parent. My sons needs and household needs come before my crypto hobbies. THX for being patient, its all I can do. Just trying to keep the facts clear. TM MMNC PS: If it takes a couple of years as suggested, (if house hasn't sold) I will be either bankrupt or TerraMaster will be a hero account or maybe legendary lol

This has been going on for quite some time. Did you two come to an agreement?
In the talks. May be in a couple of years if everything works out.. Removed a couple of words, but that is his own words in his latest PM: Hey, going to have to hang. Thought I had.. but didn't go through. But have more looking at it lol. If serious. we have to value mind too. Ill around touch THX

How can I ensure in the future that if this happens to me, I can recover my account?
As soon as you lose control of the account, put a negative trust so that the potential buyer will notice. also, simply don't download every other thing that you find in the internet. Never download anything suspicious, scan the file always and have some sort of antivirus installed. MMNC

I am still interested to sell it.
0.45BTC please? I can take 40% of the loss.
If I had some Bitcoins I would have given back to you for almost free. But, I can't.
Clarification: Sell to TerraMaster, no one else.

There is nothing wrong with buying and selling accounts if both parties agree, and the buying party does not have an intention to cheat the community or break any rules or spam the forum.
If an account is all you got and you needed money badly, you will sell it. As long as the buyer is legit, there is nothing wrong with it. I have been in newbie jail for a few months and know how it felt. No idea if it is still there, but there are too many limitations with a newbie account, on PMs posts and even the search!
I am not even wearing a signature now. I am abiding by the rules, and had no such intention when buying this. Near 100% of the posts after I found this incident had happened is in the thread alone.
I am only willing to give it back to him for the money I paid him, only because I can't afford to give it to him for free.

Willing to sell it to you for 0.75BTC the amount I bought it for.

Bump! and I am willing to sell it to him for 0.75 BTC, the amount which I bought it for. Since, he was careless with downloading an infected wallet, I don't want to be liable for the same. In fact I would be happy to restore the account for the amount, but only he isn't interested. Probably he has a few alts and he doesn't care and the account is not much valuable to him. I am only asking him, since I am not in a good financial condition myself. He also mentioned he wouldn't be paying a 'red dime' to get this account back. So, I am not very convinced he did not stage it. Even if he didn't, it still cannot be my fault. My only fault being overlooking a small part, which I regret, over other more important things at that moment. And which idiot (no offence) will not change the password after downloading some wallet of an unheard coin and finds suitable reasons to believe that something is wrong with it? I knew that wallet had issues when I wrote that post.. I turned off all processes that had mysteriously appeared.

-snip- The hacker waited 3 days, why? -snip-
I just want to pick this point and add my opinion to it. The rest is pretty much between you two now. In our (not so little anymore) bitcoin world hackers typically target wallets and bitcoin related accounts. Among those are bitcointalk.org accounts. It is not commong for someone here to change their password on a regular basis. Humans are lazy. We change our passwords if we have to, if our sys admin makes us change them and if we can we just increase the number at the end. This is normal behaviour and huge security issue in larger companies. Thus its perfectly normal for a hacker to assume shared control over the account until they kick the other person out. Shared control allows for scams that would not be possible if the original owner catches wind of the hack. These include, but are not limited to taking loans with the account as collateral - risky, could be noticed - and selling the account. Almost without risk, because it can be done from an "alt" and outgoing PMs are pretty much never noticed. They can also be deleted. Please dont read to much into it, its just an argument that its perfectly reasonable to assume a hacker does not change the password instantly. I have discussed that point already a few pages back. It is what intitially I thought. But, when the chances are your PC is compromised, a normal person will change the passwords of everything that he has accessed from that PC or stored in that PC. I am questioning that. My point is, staging the hack will also have the same set of incidents happening.
