anyone been following the network hash rate since halving?  I haven't.....  Grin

Wondering how some are surviving

This drop after weeks around 655 ain't to good, sposed to be going up

It hilarious how all these peeps come in here crashing on EXP..... maybe they are ETC Kool-Aid drinkers that feel threatened by not only ETH but EXP as well...

EXP is a good stable coin that is moving forward.... that's what counts.  Wink
1243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: July 30, 2016, 03:41:53 AM
I posted a concern somewhere at sometime about amounts being withdrawn from my wallet.  I was told that it was a charge for announcing my host on the network.  I've been hosting for a couple months, and right now, at this moment, I have 10 peers, 18 contracts.  BUT, Sia is using my storage, Sia has made a noticeable impact on my Internet speed, I have not earned a single sia, AND I have a bunch of withdrawals that have nothing to do with announcements:

-149.4504 SC     e41b1f0a4978b9d307df033f5fba3c6b560b48c5347bcd5911b8249993728f0e    Confirmed
-108.3725 SC     f910518e52f15fd303289317dbd870d10faaf3de8d72f3682ad301442ae6dec0    Confirmed

So, after months of having my resources used, putting up with spikes in Internet usage that slow my network, not earning anything, and have sia withdrawn from my account - I am transferring my balance to Poloniex, shutting down the host/wallet, and liquidating the remaining sia I have.

It seems I had a similar experience in the early days of hosting. However, I did have personal files stored myself from my wallet thus I felt that I had to pay for those files of mine being stored as well. So I wasn't sure if I was making anything off of what ...I was paying to store my own data lol or at least it seemed that way.

Anyways, what you say rings a bell. So rather then tie up storage space etc. as you described, I moved on and stopped for now while Sia develops and goes truly mainstream. I think any of us wanting to host will fair much better then. Right now its still slim picking's.  Smiley

But don't throw in the towel yet!  Wink

PS: I am still a steady 24/7 sizeable miner and growing. Start ya up a farm!

Silly question here, but does anyone know if there is any restrictions for just mining if living in New York State?

I know their new laws have restricted some exchanges from doing business there, like Poli last I had heard due to bit licenses. Any info on this will help.

THX!  Smiley
1245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum+Decred/Siacoin GPU Miner v5.1 (Windows/Linux) on: July 19, 2016, 03:29:33 PM
All ETH rigs rented for big amount, whats happening?

Theory #1: They're rented to rig the voting against the hardfork.  Plenty of threads on reddit about this.

Theory #2: They're being used to mine EXP not ETH because EXP has been on a big rise the past few days.

Theory 2, lol I have been mining EXP for months... the reward is down 60% from just a month ago, everyone is mining it and it a good substitute for eth when using Claymore.
1246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum+Decred/Siacoin GPU Miner v5.1 (Windows/Linux) on: July 19, 2016, 05:00:01 AM
Metered all my assorted rigs today with kill-o-watt. Overall it seems dual mining with Sia, my miners consumed an additional 21-25% electric. (not to mention the heat) the net gain of dual mining is a tad better than breakeven with the added electric cost. Of course I should mention to help keep the cards cool I placed a -ttdrc at 75 to throttle down the Sia side of mining... or at least it seems to be working that way.

But for sure the added amps/watts is significant. More than I had first thought.

For my rigs the net increase in power is and additional 940 watts ($68.68) per month... enough to power another 3 card rig. So which is really better.. single or dual coin mining  Shocked

So long as Sia price stays at, or goes up ... then its profitable.

this is a very interesting coin i wish i had got on this one in the early stages now that i want to i can't due to hackers and scammers they wiped me out and just about took me out of trading completely it is a shame people would do this i have a passion for trading and because of this i am barely hanging on and may not be able to trade much longer if i cant make up some ground, sorry rant over but this is a great coin with a bright future!
Yep I been hacked before too! Makes ya want to say the hell with it! lol lost a lot of crypto, this bitcointalk account was stolen and took 6 months to get it back (no easy task there) but hang in there.

But I dusted myself off and tried even harder and smarter and sure glad I did  Wink

Yes EXP offers a great opportunity whether you mining or investing or both as I do. Good Luck!  Smiley

OFFICIAL EXPANSE MINING POOL
http://pool.expanse.tech

Spread the Hash people, stop mining on Dwarf pool. I have to deal with trolls that imagine I have mind control over all the miners and this is some conspiracy. (This shows how badly public education has failed)

I mine on Suprnova myself, anything but Dwarf pool is fine. Thank you! Again, spread the hash!
Regarding claymore miner its something to do with suprnova stratum implementation.
exp altpool is a slick looking pool i'd recommend it, blocks can be a little slow for the pool but that should improve with some more hash Smiley

It also works well with both Genoil and Claymore miners.

I have been super busy, first I heard so many are mining on one pool. Easy solution people, move to other pools. It all averages out and you get nothing extra on Dwarfpool. If you want a pool with a lot of Hash, Suprnova.

Can't get Claymore miner or Genoil miners working with stratum on suprnova unfortunately. Also Genoil miner doesn't work properly on dwarfpool anyway, issues with many rejects.

I'll have a look again on Claymore, whats the issue you've got ?
If I am not mistaken, Claymore mentioned his miner would not work with Suprnova... If you can get it to work, Ill be back mining with you  Smiley

PS: I have not tried to mine with Claymore on Supr based on what I had read/heard? always have mined your pools  Wink

Ill look if I see what was said by Claymore or in his thread anyways I will post it here.

Good luck! let us know

EDIT: Better yet I will see if I can get a miner to connect and hash....... lyk

Something to do with suprnova stratum implementation.

I am on it,  will be possible soon, I'll let you know
Cool, as I just tried every possible command line code based on 5 days of using Claymore and mining on 3 different pools, and no go lol

Will be waiting to see what you come up with  Wink Also please post your command line if you get something working, if ya can  Smiley

THX OC!

Im buyng some Gpus for my new rig.

Did r290x have much more power than r9 290?

Or same thing for mining?
I picked 3 x 290s a couple months ago, at stock settings I hash about 25 MH. I expect a 290x you might see 28... have to weigh the cost up front. I got mine for 179.00 each.

Now, mine are reference coolers... and sapphires, they suck! lol noisy and they run hot! but they have made me some money and perform good, do what I bought them for. Not sure if they make a dual fan 290x... but go with that if they do. Will be much quieter and cooler. Pull about 1000 watts on a 3 rig system. A cheap 1200 watt will suffice  Wink

Undervolt and you will save a ton of electricity, also you could overclock the core gpu and get more MH, they will hash up to 29 mh with a overclock.  290X is just a "factory" overclocked 290.
Ya I did undervolt some to cool them down a bit, but seemed to throw more stale shares and efficiency seem to falter. However I didn't really play with that all that much and relate the memory clocks too.

I should add, they only ran real hot with claymore lol, normal eth miner was ok, but hotter than dual fan gpu's. But corrected that with -ttdcr mod in command line.

Actually I may go back and tinker with undervolting, my electric bill kills me!  Shocked

ok, we got er done!~ lol

went with -ttdcr 75 before the espw

it is keeping 290's at 79-80c much better than 83-85  Cool same with 7970's and 380s

Eth side hashing even higher now ( because I think cards are cooler ) but I am seeing a lower hash on Sia, avg. with connected miners has fallen off about 250MH.

So it works! after things cool down I expect all hash to be normal.  Smiley

Guess I was looking at the password x after -ethi 4 instead of: epsw x -ethi 4

ok, that's the way mine is set  Smiley

Setting up mine, I had to tweak various miner rigs and suddenly they wouldn't run right... and go back and see a missed - or a space lol

Yea I dont know what it could be, runs fine with just ETH mining.. I have reinstalled drivers and everything still nothing.

Also, yesterday I had a rig that kept crashing maybe after a few hours or so... kinda random. So I swapped out a hard drive and struggled to get past the dag updates on that one. Finally it occurred to me on the first hard drive (which had been working fine with just eth miner) that I had not gone back and reset the virtual memory too 16GB. After doing that my original hard drive has been working fine with no crashes since upping the VM.

Ok, just another thought lol
Hey I see that, not how I was doing it. Will try that!

Where exactly in the command line is the best place to add a command? ( -dcri, -ttdcr, etc.)I am trying to decrease the over all intensity as a means to cool the cards. No matter where I place them it seems to make no difference.... temps go right back to the same.

I should mention its been a 105+ heat index here last 2 weeks!  Shocked

Feel free to post your "cool" command line.... I don't care if I mine a few less coins, just don't want to burn up my gear dual mining  Wink

@Claymore
I cant get dual mining to work it mines fine with solo ETH, but when I try and mine sia or decred it hangs on DAG Epoch and restarts my system. I have this running on 10 other rigs fine and set these up the same way.
