1541  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Block Erupter USB - Overclocking/ hacking ? on: September 06, 2013, 03:08:36 PM
With 16mhz is necesary change the heat skin? Or only with air can work?

ThanksĄ

I currently have 4 sticks running at 16Mhz at full hash of 447Mh/s with no changes to the heatsink. (I didn't even remove it to do the soldering.)

current temps are around 37deg C with ambient around 16degC. my 13.5Mh/s units are around 32degC. I have a 23cm desk fan blowing air across my miners.

it seems to work well.

so no you don't have to modify the heatsink.

What type of power requirements does this place on the USB hub?

Hes awesome, I read the policymaker primer...great great book!
His approach to regulation is very sound...need more like him!

I would love to give this a try ... been contemplating getting some USB miners...
I hate soldering but have watched some hot air SMD stuff on youtube, and your guide and it doesnt look entirely too hard.
So, I have a noobish question... At work we have a LF-8000 solder / desolder station. It came w/ traditional soldering iron and a vacuum / pump desolder wand. It also has option to hook up their hot air pencil to it(optional part) and its quite costly. So... my question is, can I just hook the vacuum wand up to the hot air pump connector and use it as a hot air pencil? ..... or would the internal design of the wand not cause that to be effective...
1544  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Block Erupter Blade (New Model)]Low Price, Limited Quantity on: September 03, 2013, 07:44:17 PM

It sucks for the clueless miners buying into their hardware that barely roi anything, but it does not suck to be am.

This is true of any ASIC hardware supplier =) ... they are the only folks making the real profit out of this gold rush =)
1545  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Block Erupter Blade (New Model)]Low Price, Limited Quantity on: September 03, 2013, 02:59:57 PM
The less than 4BTC you earn with the hardware will never be worth as much as the 4BTC spent for the hardware, no matter what the price of BTC is...
This seems really, really hard for people to understand.

This is solely what I calculate ASIC hardware on , since most hardware is sold @ BTC prices. It doesnt matter its USD conversion and I leave power cost out of it too cuz that involves USD conversion.
So yeah, everything announced and / or selling right now will most likely never achieve this - or so it seems.

But, I suspect that difficulty will achieve some sort of flatline around 1.xxx billion and hold for a while. Giving room for some of these devices to make positive ROI. Theres just simply not enough hardware announced to achieve the 328 PH/s hashrate required for a difficulty of predicted 42billion.
At most there is 10PH or so in the pipeline.... and that puts us around a 1.3billion diff...

As I stated before a tutorial on how to upgrade your erupters to 447 Mh/s be advised this is my first tutorial. and I want to thank all the hard work that went into me being able to complete this by everybody here. please send all feedback as a pm as if you find something totally fucked up about my tut I can correct it and reupload a better version. I hope this helps noobs like me do this mod and best of luck mining.

I havent tried this but Im interested, if I ever get USB miners =P .. My only suggestion is fix the links that are listed below the hot air rework station link - ... they dont seem to be working for me =/

One back-plane will be provided per ten Block Erupter Blade (New Model).

Is a purchase of 10 minimum to get the backplane? or when ordering any number between 1-10 will you get a backplane?
1549  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Block Erupter Blade (New Model)]Low Price, Limited Quantity on: September 02, 2013, 06:14:14 PM
Ah, yes, you can have it now, you just get $^%&#^ in the process.  It's been true ever since May 4th when the 1.99BTC erupters came out, why should it be any different now?  Spare me your sanctimonious crap, it's still highway robbery.
Huh? How is 10 GH/s for 4 BTC delivered immediately highway robbery? That's the same price as a BFL pre-order due to ship in "2 or more months".

I'm looking at this as "100 GH/s for less than 40 BTC" and am seriously thinking of pulling the trigger. Have an inquiry in with one of the resellers.

yeah I hear ya, its one of the best deals out there atm and u can get the HW within a week or so...hopefully!
Theres a chance of it actually making ROI....
1550  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] Group Buy #12 NEW Blade Miners 4 BTC or less! on: August 30, 2013, 09:42:07 PM
If they are anything like the last blade a 750 watt is not going to cut it due to the 10 amp current each blade pulls. You will be lucky to get 4-5 working stable.
10 amp * 12v = 120w.

You are saying these will only do 11w / GH/s?

These do 7w/GH...

Dont know if you guys saw canarys group buy, but he says these new ones are not oc'able and have a USB connection(not sure if that means no ethernet connection or not)

Hopefully they will have both connections on them. Power consumption has a lower value so these are more efficient, I'm guessing 65nm? IMO the power savings are negligible right now since you can still OC the old blade and get a couple extra G\hash per device and be mining with it tomorrow. The new blades will make BTC longer however since it will take longer to reach the point where the cost of power is greater than the return.

Power consumption is the same... old blade @ 10GH is around 75watts or so, new one is 7w/GH so... 70watts @ 10GH .. roughly the same =P

New meaning the new hardware or more of the same old?

From power consumption #'s I would guess same old w/ cosmetic changes mostly... just like their new USB miners.

Im waiting for pix, instructions, all specs, etc... then will probably buy some =) woot

1557  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs New 600GH "Mining Card" - RED FLAGS?!?! on: August 28, 2013, 09:56:15 PM
I dont know if this has been speculated on yet. But I saw an interesting point in an article or comment of article(cant remember). But this could be BFL simply reselling cointerra's asics but in a PCIe formfactor. Since each ASIC chip from cointerra does about 500GH... BFL could be buying them, slightly OC'n them.. assemble board & sell....

If this is the case and cointerra delivers on time, BFL could easily get this product delivered in time.

Hi everyone,

I'm an intern at the company, and I helped them with the research that ultimately led to them accepting Bitcoins for rent.

They are now currently operating in all 50 states of the USA, and are excited to be able to offer this to everyone.

if thats true....awesome fucking job man! =)
I did that w/ the small business that employs me!

Can someone point me to the power mod needed? Couldnt one just grab a ATX psu & cut off molex connectors , seal off the 5v part and strip down 12v leads and plug them into the screwdown adapter provided?

Also, how soon would these ship CrazyGuy? - soon as you get my payment?
