quick update here, got the rig home(still waiting on 2nd shipment for the display piece...rofl) anyways, its set up in the cold room.
Its hashing @ 225GH avg, consumes around 1280w @ wall - HW 7%
Each chili is doing between 35-39GH/s - temps in the 50-60C's

Its fucking beautiful!

1382  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Chili – 30+GH/s BFL based Bitcoin Miner Assembly on: December 05, 2013, 04:23:08 AM
Really happy w/ my chilis atm - bought a sunzi (6 chilis)

In my cold room ... they are clockin between 36-39GHs/avg ... freakin awesome!
My overall error rate at this speed is 7%
Power consumption @ wall - 1280W

Total avg hashrate: 225GH
1383  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 200 gh/s "Sunzi Miner"(Rack Mount)- 6.9 BTC - (Sold Out) on: December 05, 2013, 01:19:05 AM
My sunzi arrived today, well half of it... waiting on the metal display piece still =P .. damn usps!

Got them all put together and working great at work...
Avg hashrate is 203GH pool side .. and seeing only bout 5.5% HW errors .. after couple hours!
Temps are between 55-60C as read by bfgminer .. and this is a reasonably warm room... cant wait to see what it does in my place which is ambient of 47F =P
These things rock!
1384  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Chili – 30+GH/s BFL based Bitcoin Miner Assembly on: December 04, 2013, 03:54:58 PM
Is it possible to flash new firmware to these using linux? (a rpi w/ minepeon specifically)
If not, can someone point me to the windows flashing procedure & files? Thanks

Very nice setup, time to move to Linux!

Yeah, working on it. I need to figure out two things...

#1. How to make BFGMiner start at bootup on its own.
#2. Install VNC or some other remote control software so I can get into it from another computer.

I already have the linux (Ubuntu) machine up and running. Just need to figure out those two things above and I'm all set.

And wouldn't you know it Windows installed new updates this morning (3AM) and the computer was hung in a reset loop. Stupid machine.

#1. probably make a daemon or startup script for it.
#2. SSH =)

Im anxiously awaiting my sunzi ... got the stainless steel version and I will have to assemble it all when it arrives ... wanted safer shipping method hehe
Ill take pix!
1387  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-01 Global News Canada Bitcoin Ducumentary (video) on: December 02, 2013, 07:29:52 AM
this was a very well done piece.
1388  Economy / Speculation / So does anyone remember..... on: December 01, 2013, 09:41:46 AM
The only reason for the previous 2 bubbles popping was because of exchange technical issues?!?! This caused mass panic and people dumped soon as they came back online.
Given bitcoins recent price surge... Im thinking the same thing will be the case this time around and only until then.
If BTCCHINA crashed... Im pretty sure that would signal the bubble pop =)

thoughts, opinions?
I dont see this point really discussed much...
1389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Intrinsic Value: Far greater than Gold on: November 30, 2013, 09:02:14 PM
I was just thinking about this... I wonder if it would help people understand more how bitcoin works if one actually compares the blockchain with gold.
Because gold is in the earth, its mined over time from the earth, its not known(or if its known) always exactly where it is in the earth thus it takes much work to get it. At current day, not all the gold is mined from the earth and in circulation. From there gold is further split up for people that want to buy it , use it .. etc. You have to have the gold in hand to actually use it to purchase things, or you can chose to leave gold in an investment fund(trust others w/ ur claim to the gold).

Switch to bitcoin:
Because Bitcoin is in the blockchain, its mined over time from the blockchain, its not known(or if its known) always exactly where it is in the blockchain(the randomness factor of finding blocks) thus it takes much work to get it. At current day, not all the Bitcoin is mined from the blockchain and in circulation. From there Bitcoin is permanantly stored in the blockchain once mined.  The keys which lay claim to being able to spend the Bitcoin is how its split up amongst its users. Its undeniable evidence, backed by math, that those keys are used to say who can spend what portion of the Bitcoin on the blockchain. Its basically proof of asset tagging for the resources in the blockchain.

So, unlike gold, bitcoin never leaves where it came from. It always exists as part of the blockchain(the earth in golds case). Mining bitcoin simply means the newly mined coins are linked and "owned" to a private key... thus they become transferrable(spendable). Its kinda like being able to transfer gold around while its still part of the earth - obviously not possible lol....

Im just rambling thoughts outloud =P ... this came to me while I was taking a shower.. LOL!
For all technical purposes, I realize bitcoin doesnt prexist on the blockchain before its mined. But in a way it does as layed forth in the protocol specification.
This all stemmed from the thought of my original point that the blockchain is something very valueable and if someone wanted the valueable part of Bitcoin, physically, when ti comes to it, print them up the blockchain and hand it to them. The thing is the scope of bitcoins divisibility goes way beyond just 1BTC being divisible to 8 decimal places ..... its the simple fact that the entire blockchain is divisible!
1390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Intrinsic Value: Far greater than Gold on: November 30, 2013, 07:51:53 PM
Bitcoin also has not only value in the utility ... but I think the blockchain itself is an extremely valueable "thing" ... it represents history that can not be falsified, manipulated by humans. Its essentially the one and only truth. In a world where truth can be so easily manipulated, half truth, flatout lies ... the blockchain is immune to all of that .... given of course its not 51% attacked =P

One could think of the blockchain as being wikipedia ... except that everything on the blockchain is 100% true and can never be changed, it is bound by the laws of mathematics.
I think this is one very valueable aspect of the Bitcoin protocol that.... gets often overlooked.

I kinda chuckle when people go "but gold is physical, I can hand it to you...and people will always want that, thats why it has value" ... I say ... "Well go print out the entire blockchain and Ill hand that to you...this is the physical form of bitcoin ... the whole point is ... it doesnt need to be printed out, just like gold the properties of the blockchains past can never be changed .. except it can do it digitally, whereas gold cant"

Once people start to understand that about bitcoin.... peoples faith in bitcoin will increase even further. It just needs that "ah ha" moment in there head where it all clicks into place ... then they realize how truely amazing it is when compared to any form of money/ currency thats ever existed in human history.
1391  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-11-28] FORBES Global Bitcoin Computing Power Now 256 Times Faster Than... on: November 30, 2013, 07:34:58 PM
But the important thing to remember is, since they specialize in FPU(therefore probably being horribly weak at INT math)   ... given the pooled effort of the Supercomputers.... they would come nowhere close to being able to 51% attack Bitcoin.

1393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reminder, Bitcoin has intrinsic value: its proof of work on: November 29, 2013, 05:00:33 PM
I dont get into all the different facets of value but when someone asks me "but what makes Bitcoin valueable?"
My response is, something like: Well, aside from its market exchange rate...which is much like how PM's are traded on .. speculation etc...  Bitcoins true inherent value comes from the utility(I go into various utility aspects that Bitcoin has where money has never had in human history) and proof of history(work)(thats backed by mathmatics) that can not be changed unless the true majority(not representation of) says so.
Thats what makes Bitcoin valuable.

Its at that point that they start getting it.
I mean, its like comparing an old cannon vs a 50cal bmg aimed at a 1500yd human target ... which one is more valueable given the goal trying to be accomplished? =P
1394  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 4 fully assembled "chili" ASIC Miners 32-35 gh/s 2.25 BTC each Free Shipping on: November 29, 2013, 05:41:45 AM
Local p2pool node for about an hour.

Just set it up so I haven't verified the whole p2pool chain yet, not sure if that matters...

hmm, the numbers don't add up with your HW errors.  are those just not even submitted to the pool?

i would like to see it on an existing p2pool node, lenny's is fine

if the latency is too high there, you could try nogleg.net or zevus.nogleg.com and I'd give you any BTC back if it actually did take a fee, those are in US rather than Europe

Firmware on the Chilis enables engines that BFL would not. This produces a higher hashrate but more HW errors. I'll hit someone else's node tonight.

Does this mean that the miners will not last as long?

No HW errors just means a particular engine is less reliable in spitting accurate results.... but such errors should not degrade the actual physical chip.

Really need an update, Need to buy!

Same here....

yes, it looks really nice, if an rpi could control it...would be awesome!
Im asked about the HSF's ... because of choosing between the rack version or the "open air" version w/ blue fans.... didnt know which cooling would be better.
Ah, a little searching found it. I've never heard of a Sunzi x6 before.
You'll have to ask CrazyGuy about it.

Well its just 6x chilis arranged.... so ... same thing applys bout if the 212 heatsinks are good or not on chilis and if mine peon can control them =)

Can these be ran using minepeon w/ latest builds of bfgminer? ... Well can an rpi power 6 of these things w/ a powered hub?

Also, if given the choice would the accelero GPU cooler or hyper 212 cooler work best on these?
Im guessing w/ the hyper 212 .. mosfet cooling would probably needed... is there a place to buy heatsinks for the fets or another easy way to cool them?
I'm not sure on that one, I've never tried MinePeon. As for powered vs unpowered hubs, it shouldn't make a whole lot of difference. The board generates 5V internally and the 5V line from the hub is not connected, so there won't be any 5V power draw there.

I would use a Hyper 212 Evo if you're not looking to mount them using a bracket. You just get more cooler for your money that way. For VRM heatsinks, I just bought some off eBay from China, but they took a month to arrive. When I was testing I just ordered a pair of these per board from Digikey, they work great.

Cool, well reason Im asking is ... Im considering the sunzi x6 miner.... would be awesome if could get it to run on my rpi.
