nine days since last post so bumping for  a news- flash.

I have to resist all preorders until at least one starts paying me.  I have four or five.

As for roi it ain't easy for most miners only a few of us did this.  I made roi when I sold off my used hd7970's and hd7790's .  most were 75-100% paid off with coins.  so selling them at half price got me to make roi.  this may not be the case with sticks.
... every device I bought before the advent of ASIC - I've earned more than I paid for them ...

yeah pretty much the same for me.  Asics are harder to make money since only AM sells them without a waiting period at a next to impossible price to make money.  I had long arguments on the AM thread  pages 200- 300  (not sure of the numbers) when the sticks came out at 2 btc  about 260 usd back in april- may.  at the same time the hd7790 was 120 usd (on sale) same hash rate  with a real resale value.  I said pricing of 2 btc was wrong should be 1 btc.  I was mocked and insulted quite a bit. But i was correct. the price was a short term greedy move.

I purchased a lot of hd7790's and got very lucky why I put them in april 2nd and btc shot to more then 230 usd.  april 2013 was the month I got out all my roi made more money that month the the prior 5 months.

Sure, I'm using my own code, and I already implemented a workaround for this stratum proxy bug - it just needs a little testing.

Stratum proxy is popular though and should be maintained by someone. I also see it returning random errors in response to client.get_version

I hope someone picks it up. I don't have the time for that myself, though. Sad

one of the problems for me is I sell a lot on ebay.  I push lots of stick users to this site and get them on the easy java client.  many people don't want anything that requires any skill.  Since I sold about 200-300 sticks on ebay to 35-45 buyers I can tell there is a big market for an easy plug n play item.

If the newer 2gh sticks worked as easily on bitminter as the .333gh sticks I could sell thousands of them. not looking to sell thousands just a few hundred like the Am be's.  The only reason I can do okay in mining is I do honest lower cost selling on ebay. It allows newcomers into the market... they get sticks fast with ebay/paypal protection.

Like it or not we miners need this  lot of small mainstream buying  or btc will die.  It is not complicated.  The doctor has 100,000 people that signed onto his site.

most get started small with a gpu  a year ago like I did.  Now this year many came here because some one sold them an AM be.   We now  need the same for these newer sticks. Also they have to be sold with no preorders..  much of the boost new customers  this summer has been ebay sales of sticks.  Why they are on hand and it is safe to buy them. just my take on this.
Oh dear - do you sell them for more than you pay for them?
The buy price for AMUs is a BTC loss for EVERYONE who has so far bought any AMUs and mine PPS or similar with them.

I sell my sticks at the lowest ebay price... so if someone is at 24 I will sell at 23.  what you don't realize for many buyers ebay discounts are available.  so buying 5 sticks from me for 116 which is ebay's best price as i type  may mean the buyer has a 10 dollar coupon even more.  their risk of none delivery is 0 .  there risk of broken gear is 0.  here is a typical sale of mine on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=151122097801&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

If a new person has no btc it is tedious to buy it and newer people are afraid  to send btc to strangers on the net.  A person starting out in the btc world needs an easy path and should not be hurt by sellers asking double my prices.  If they want to take on risk of btc purchase and transfer it to a seller like canaryinthemine i have helped them to do this.

Having a million or 2 million people with a handful of sticks is a good thing for btc. It allows for the coin to become legit. an added safety measure for a wise investor.  This is why preorders are wicked bad when they are not shipped quickly.  But hey that is one mans opinion.

As for roi it ain't easy for most miners only a few of us did this.  I made roi when I sold off my used hd7970's and hd7790's .  most were 75-100% paid off with coins.  so selling them at half price got me to make roi.  this may not be the case with sticks.

I wanted to know if they will plug n play on bitminter.  I run the asic miner sticks now.

Those will not work with the current BitMinter client versions. I'm looking into adding support for them.

You can use them on the BitMinter pool using some incarnation of cgminer or bfgminer though (either the regular or a fork).

not good to hear.

These may end up being a big hit with am stick users.

lots of am sticks have sold and they will be too slow in 3 months or so.

but all of us will have a big hub investment. well it is early in that game and for all I know am will build a better stick.
45087  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ANN] NanoFury NF1 USB stick - GROUP BUY of BITFURY chips + US PRODUCT ASSEMBLY on: September 14, 2013, 07:15:00 AM
=== PRICING UPDATE ===

With both punin and buzzdave now having officially released October pricing it seems the BitFury chips will be closer to the 0.2-0.25BTC range. If we exceed the initial target of 3000 devices that would put the final price also closer to 0.4-0.5BTC (as assembly and all other components will likely also get closer to 0.2-0.25BTC).

The final cost of course will be dependent on the number of devices this GB attracts. But even at the low range of 500 that still leads to a bit lower final price (than our initial estimates) which will likely be in the 0.50 - 0.55 BTC range.

We'll keep you posted.

I will still keep a 6btc commitment by sept 30th.

I will turn in  6btc.  hopefully I will get  15 sticks (.4btc each) for that rather then 11. (.55btc each)

Couldn't lock the thread. I believe you have to be a mod to do that.

Besides, I'm enjoying the free flow of info here and want to keep up the openness and transparency we've established for our co-op so far.  Grin

BTW, I worked out a purchase agreement with philipma1957 for a hefty UPS & Battery backup for our Baby Jet. He gave me a really good deal on over $1K ofI expect to pay him next month before he and firsttimeuser meet up so that he can hand it off when they meet.

As part of the deal I will toss in fans as needed since I have more then 2 dozen spares in just about any possible size. I forgot to mention that i have a lot of fans. since the chip will pull a lot of power i believe it needs a water cooling solution.  that i do not have but  to have extra fans beyond the water cooling should help manage heat.  this will be really true if we get a second chip in the extra hash plan.

the fan selection is really large and will be for free as a bonus. to the eaton ups with extend battery pack

looking to buy these newer sticks

I wanted to know if they will plug n play on bitminter.  I run the asic miner sticks now.

I have hubs so this would be an easy upgrade .   I could bring my hash from 33gh to 198gh on the hubs I already have.

If these are plug n play i would sell off all my am sticks in the next 2 weeks. and use that coin to buy these sticks.
45090  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ANN] NanoFury NF1 USB stick - GROUP BUY of BITFURY chips + US PRODUCT ASSEMBLY on: September 13, 2013, 05:38:13 PM
Definitely watching, would be a neat fun factor evolution over the asicminer stick.

yeah if it is .4 btc  and is 2gh  at 2.5 watts it would be pretty nice.

that is about 3x the price of an am stick but 6x the hash.  same watts

I have the hubs so it would be a lower setup cost for me.

I can run 100 sticks so 100 at 2gh would be good.

Final price is currently estimated to be in the 0.3-0.6BTC range (depending on total quantities this GB attracts) and price of BitFury chip (currently anticipated in the 0.2-0.3BTC range pending announcement happening supposedly this weekend)

It seems punin has put up pricing for September chips, approximately 0.21633 BTC if I did the math correctly.

So the high end of the final estimated price per unit is 0.6BTC + 0.21633BTC = 0.81633 BTC correct?

dentldir sorry for the confusion - I guess I need to expand on the pricing box a bit more.

The anticipated final price (including BitFury chip AND assembly) is in the 0.3-0.6BTC range. It is made of two components: BitFury chip (0.2-0.3BTC anticipated for October delivery) plus assembly and all other components (which we anticipate to be in the 0.2-0.3BTC range depending on quantity).

So the high-end estimated final price is 0.6BTC at the moment.

I will get some at the price of .3 btc fully assembled.
I will commit to 6btc on sept 30.

so if it is the max price of .6 I get 10 sticks.

if it is the min price of .3 I get 20 sticks. .

I will book mark this thread.

missed the high range which looks like it is too high for me. .

well at .81633btc  for 2gh it is okay,   but the oct 31 delivery  is a long time off.  adjustments will be:

sept 14  = 107  mill
sept 25  = 133  mill
oct 6     = 166  mill
oct 17   = 207  mill
oct 28   = 259  mill   these are 25% adjustments.

I can get .333 ghs sticks in 3 days.

 6x .333= 2gh  =  6x .15 btc = about .9

and I will be hashing  with the sticks by monday the 16th of sept.

So as much as I want them to upgrade.
I will wait until sept 28-30th to commit.

Textbook Troll.

The OP is making all this up out of thin air.

Actually I think you may be right.  I checked his previous posts and they are just "news" and "links" postings.  He never address questions about his posts or engages in any real conversation.  Still makes me wonder, why even make up a thread like this in the first place, as in what is he getting out of it...

he posted a lot on the bfl forum all crap and bs,  he was so bad they banned him and he really deserved it.

So Canary does that mean that there's no way to troubleshoot the dead chip? What are the terms for warranty service in that case?

talking along warranty. i got 50 sticks today. one bad one.  so far out of the 200 plus sticks I have ordered this is the second bad stick.  first time I sent back the doa stick you sent me a replacement with my next order.

mailing back a .55btc stick is not too painful.

mailing back a .15 btc stick is a little more painful to do.  can I send a shit load of photos of it rather then mail it?

it gives me timeout on 7 hubs and 2 pc's none of the other sticks do this. I am going to order on sat or sun. you can shoot me a pm as to what to do.
45095  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ANN] NanoFury NF1 USB stick - GROUP BUY of BITFURY chips + US PRODUCT ASSEMBLY on: September 12, 2013, 05:39:58 PM
okay I would buy 10 fully assembled plug n play. so are we looking at 6btc for ten?

I have other questions will these run with bitminter's plug n play java client. I am running 100 asic miner sticks on bit minter as i type so this is a perfect upgrade item for me..

10 of these would be 45 to 60 am sticks. frankly I am very adverse to any preorders no preorder has delivered correctly to me and I have 5 outstanding preorders.  so if I preorder 10 of these for 6btc how long before you want my coins oct 1 to  give the coins up to oct 31 to get gear is what I am reading.

I am not sure I want to wait 30 days. I would have to think about it.
45096  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN IN-STOCK SHIPPING!] batch #23/24 .16 btc USB + 4 btc NEW Blade miners on: September 11, 2013, 03:31:28 PM
these usbs will need to be around .13 each soon to be worth messing with     Sad

they are already novelty. the difficulty is too high to get anything useful out of them other than a few bit-cents a piece

a year worth of mining with starting at 10 and adding a new one as soon as you get enough coin only gives you an addition 7 units and  .08 btc in your hands calculated reference

then you are left with 17 usb sticks that cant really do anything.
this calculation of course is an estimation and assumes 30% increases each time and does not factor in hub costs.

its getting harder to mine while not losing USD. better save your power and just invest in coins not miners.

your calc reference is not good.  1 year of 30 % each adjustment will never happen. just not possible.  basically that is about 1.3 to the 32nd power silly to think that is what will happen.

45097  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] Promo USB Miners .13 btc each or less for past SilentSonicBoom Customers on: September 11, 2013, 11:45:43 AM
They are definitely getting cheaper.

I'm guessing their cost on them is BTC.10 so this is as low as it goes probably without paying us to take them!

I honestly think asicminer is producing these at as little as 0.03 BTC. They have no middle men for chips and other items so that brings cost down considerably.

They might be producing them at that amount but , do you work for free? I don't think they are going to sell AT COST
No I don't think they will sell at cost either. They will only continue to sell as long as they are turning a profit. I would assume the lowest they will sell at is 0.7-0.8

Their sales force (resellers) will drop out before it gets that low. If you can't make $5-6 a miner it's not worth the work.

I disagree the resellers will just force a minimum buy.  A sealed box of 10 sticks will be the minimum buy. or 2 sealed boxes of 10

They must be sealed so the handling is easy.  2 boxes fit in a padded flat rate envelope. shipping is only 6 bucks 50 insurance and tracking for free in all 50 states.

so a 20 pack for 1.5 coins that the reseller paid 1 coin for gives him a .5 coin profit if the buyer pays for the label.  I for one would love to be able to sell that.

The real problem is not the sticks the problem is the hubs.  shit hubs burn up and good hubs cost a lot.

If 20 sticks cost the above price of 1.5 coins for 20 and 6 bucks to ship  the miner needs 3x 7 stick hubs or 2x 10 stick hubs.

So far the cheapest I have seen is about 3 bucks a port so if you can setup that would be 60 bucks plus the  190 for the 20 sticks total of 250 for 20 sticks and hubs.  frankly I went with good hubs and it cost more. I paid 6 bucks a port for much better gear. So my cost for 20 mining sticks would be 310 usd. vs 250 usd.
at 250 it comes to 12.50 per stick counting the hubs

at 310 it comes to  15.50 per stick with the hubs.

so the sticking point for sticks will be hub price.  so whether you pay 3 or 6 a port  or anything in between the port cost  will be a big issue.

So a reseller could make money with sticks at .075 btc each.  Now what can Am make on that in bulk I have no idea.

But I would think they could make a stick and get it to the states at .025 btc each with mass production.

going long term as a miner at 12.50-15.50 usd  a stick when do they become useless?  good question to early in the morning for me to do the math.

Damn... so many posts here and in other threads quoting math, showing clearly how these things are just as overpriced as ever. As in, you'll never make your money back from either these or the blades. That same has been true from the beginning of Asicminer sales.

And still people line up to buy buy buy.

So many suckers...  Roll Eyes
maybe they are suckers maybe they have a plan that will work for them.

how about buy 100 sticks for about 1700 usd

sell 80 on ebay for about 2000 usd after all fees and shipping you net 1800 buy hubs for 100

and mine with the other 20 sticks. free startup price

this guy knows how its done.

Thank you
