iv added some more block erupters but when i start the client all i keep getting is selftest error's, can anyone shed any light on this? iv check all drivers and all my ports and everything seem fine in both.
 Undecided
  many reasons why.

most  reasons are poor quality hubs...  so what hubs do you have.

other reasons are   raspberry pi only likes certain hubs..

more reasons too many hubs on a slow set up.   I run 96 sticks on 1 pc but everything is high quality.

if you send a pm or reply here with details on your setup i can help
45063  Economy / Securities / Re: Cloudhashing ASIC mining contracts, UK LTD company - Now Mining & Paying Bitcoin on: September 17, 2013, 12:11:25 AM

full disclosure on my math I think I am correct at my 3.88 coins estimate but to be fair it could be as low as 3.30

Unfortunately I think your difficulty increase is too low.  I would say 5GH/s in 1 year would only pay out 1.5-2.5 BTC (and 2.5 is really stretching it).

those are the coins lost at lower difficulty due to the lack of full  hashing during july and aug.  in the future I will get 1 coin-2 coins on a flat 5gh.  so while this would have been a loss it would have been maybe a grand total of 4 -5 coins from july to july.

instead it looks to be under 2 coins.  due to the lost hash in those better months of july 2013 and august 2013.

I invested in this to help bitminter and to keep track  of this for newbies. well it looks to be a bust for all the early adapters.

now if you purchase a new plat contract for sept.  which is not paying a dime as of yet  it may make money, but  I do not know the future.

hell maybe cloudhasher still has a plan to help all the early contracts from june to july,  but I have not heard of any.

So my total coinage is .489btc    I laid out 717 usd.

I will get ? btc on tue. sept 17th
45064  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] 1 Metabank Bitfury with hosting in the US [ORDERING CLOSED] on: September 16, 2013, 09:26:05 PM
I have emailed Magus, the miner should really arrive shortly.
I hope so. as of today I am 0 for 5 on preorders.  it would be nice to see at least one come in.   also this gear is out in the wild so it is even a bit more frustrating to not have it hashing for us.
45065  Economy / Securities / Re: Cloudhashing ASIC mining contracts, UK LTD company - Now Mining & Paying Bitcoin on: September 16, 2013, 07:15:48 PM
Do you investors expect to make ROI?

If so, how much profit do you realistically hope to earn? Please include the contract (silver, gold) you purchased.

I am an early adaptor I have a 1 year 5gh contract.

and unless cloudhashing  does something to correct for coins lost in july and august due to less then 100% hash power.

I will certainly positively lose money. Anyone that purchased a july 1 year contract will lose money unless the coins lost in july and august are restored.

In my case I figure to lose more then 300 usd on my 717 usd contract. Of course I do not know what if any plan is out there for the early adapters like myself.

I purchased this contract based on the promise of full hash of 5gh starting on july 4th.  with the first payment on the 19th of july.

As of tomorrow I will get  my first full hash payment.

so from july 4th to july     19 = 0 btc         this was 0 percent     it would have been    1.73 coins  at 100 percent
july 19 to aug     7th = .106 btc    this was 10 percent   it would have been    1.06 coins at 100 percent
aug 7th to  aug  21st = .172 btc    this was 30 percent   it would have been      .57 coins at 100 percent
aug  21st to sept 5th =  .211 btc    this was 40 percent   so it would have been .52 coins at 100 percent

and I still may have lost money but at 3.88 coins in the bank instead of  the .489 coins that i have as of today I would be okay with it.

full disclosure on my math I think I am correct at my 3.88 coins estimate but to be fair it could be as low as 3.30

As for the future I will be  a loser  unless cloudhasher does a fix for all early adaptors.

I figure anyone with a july 1 5gh  1 year contract has been shorted more then 2.5 coins and less then 3.5 coins as of today.

as for a new sept platinum contract  it could make money.    for me I will be lucky to collect 2  or 3 coins against the  717 usd i paid out.
45066  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] NanoFury NF1 USB stick - GROUP BUY of BITFURY chips + US PRODUCT ASSEMBLY on: September 16, 2013, 02:50:50 AM
Yup! Totally agree with what he said. Plus, it would force the cost of the other miners down, or force their buyers to look this way.

I mine about 90 am sticks. I can mine 150 sticks no problem. (i i have the hubs and have mined at 137 so far as a max.)

I sold about 200 am sticks on ebay.

I am drooling at this new product it would allow good sales on ebay and allow me to upgrade my personal mine.
45067  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] NanoFury NF1 USB stick - GROUP BUY of BITFURY chips + US PRODUCT ASSEMBLY on: September 16, 2013, 01:36:50 AM
ship to the 50 states in a small flat rate box.  it runs about 5-6 bucks.  give the buyer the chance to send a label to you.  like canaryinthemine does..    and force buyers to purchase at least 2 sticks.  the 2 stick minimum  purchase rule would help your handling costs a lot.  also a buyer that purchases 2 sticks is more then happy to spend for tracking and free 50 dollar insurance.  at least he should be.

you have to understand your market upside is huge! why?

30 k am sticks have been sold by canary in the mine.  and at least 10 k by silent sonic boom

that means lots of people have hubs   giving them an upgrade from 3.3 gh on a 10 port hub to 20gh is golden.
45068  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If Bitcoins Go Up Will USB Bitcoin Miners Be Profitable? on: September 15, 2013, 10:38:59 PM
The way I read it, most "know it alls" here in the thread are completely dismissing the possibility that USB miners will have future value, even when BTC mining is unprofitable.

I'd like to see some calculations when future value is included. Naturally, you can not prove that the future value is nil.

GPUs have a use outside bitcoin so have a good residual value.

FPGAs have a use outside bitcoin so have a good residual value.

Bitcoin mining asics have no use outside bitcoin. Why would you expect them to have a residual value higher than their mining returns?

a new coin coded to only allow 1 single stick run to mine it per ip address.  or any variation of the above .  why should someone make the coin  because there or 10's of thousands of sticks. any smart coder can see that his and her coin has a built in following.
45069  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] New ASICMiner Block Erupters - In Hand - .13 BTC + Shipping on: September 15, 2013, 09:40:32 PM
I did not believe they  would be .09 btc which is why I asked him.  I will most likely stick with canary but my support is with both you and canary as the two of you have been around for a while.

Not knocking the new guy but the sales are dying off on ebay as I type.  what we really need is a better stick. not a third reseller.

I concur with philip, we need a new device, something with 2 to 3x the current power and in stock today to keep the interest/sales going.  Most of the people that have bought or are buying on ebay and other outlets are realizing the same thing that we have long ago, ROI...

yep.  they love the ease of use but not the hash power.  one very good  thing  is they  have purchased lots of hubs .  so f - cat please get us a better stick. people will buy them
45070  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] New ASICMiner Block Erupters - In Hand - .13 BTC + Shipping on: September 15, 2013, 07:13:12 PM
If I am not mistaken, next group buys for these will start under 0.1 each in the next few hours.

what source do you have for a .09 a stick price?

SilentSonicBoom said the price is coming down today but he hasn't been told what the new price will be(as of 10 hours ago at-least)

I'm hoping asic blades drop to under 3BTC so I can pick up another one. Cheesy
I'm not worried about the usb asics as once you include the usb hub the $/mh/s is way higher than the blades.
There is no 0.09 stick price. Not even close. Blades may drop slightly and I am starting new group buys tonight. USB miner prices will be similar to the recent coupon prices.

45071  Economy / Securities / Re: Cloudhashing ASIC mining contracts, UK LTD company - Now Mining & Paying Bitcoin on: September 15, 2013, 05:09:40 PM
It's official!!

All July contracts are running at 100 percent capacity. This was achieved by

1) Installing additional 2 rigs including singles
2) Switching remaining July customers who requested to September contracts

If you own a July contract, you are now mining at 100 percent purchased capacity as of today.

110 Terahash mine.

Everything is on schedule to start between the 26th and 30th September.

Thanks all

Emmanuel

that is nice that you caught up.

it looks to be too little too late for all early adapters of cloudhashing.  the 70 days of 0 to 40% hash rate were when the  difficulty rate  was as low as 20 mill and no higher then 86 mill cost us dearly.  note I used 70 days counting from july 4th as the promised start date.  even if you pick july 31st  for a start date you still have  a 45 day delay for the early adapters like me. I would have more then 3 coins in the bank due to delays I only have .5 coins.

oh well.

your shipping rates are not logical.

a small flat rate box is about .05 btc  it will fit 14 sticks so shipping of .12 btc for  11 sticks is too high.
45074  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] 1 Metabank Bitfury with hosting in the US [ORDERING CLOSED] on: September 15, 2013, 04:27:31 PM
have not heard any info since sept 5th.

 any news is welcome.

sorry to ask but I have 5 preorders from 5 different companies and on some days i get anxious about it. usually happens after a diff bump (now 112 mill )

As for roi it ain't easy for most miners only a few of us did this.  I made roi when I sold off my used hd7970's and hd7790's .  most were 75-100% paid off with coins.  so selling them at half price got me to make roi.  this may not be the case with sticks.
... every device I bought before the advent of ASIC - I've earned more than I paid for them ...

yeah pretty much the same for me.  Asics are harder to make money since only AM sells them without a waiting period at a next to impossible price to make money.  I had long arguments on the AM thread  pages 200- 300  (not sure of the numbers) when the sticks came out at 2 btc  about 260 usd back in april- may.  at the same time the hd7790 was 120 usd (on sale) same hash rate  with a real resale value.  I said pricing of 2 btc was wrong should be 1 btc.  I was mocked and insulted quite a bit. But i was correct. the price was a short term greedy move.

I purchased a lot of hd7790's and got very lucky why I put them in april 2nd and btc shot to more then 230 usd.  april 2013 was the month I got out all my roi made more money that month the the prior 5 months.
45078  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25 TH/s] BitMinter.com [ASIC support: var diff, Stratum, GBT, rollntime] on: September 15, 2013, 05:01:13 AM
Sure, I'm using my own code, and I already implemented a workaround for this stratum proxy bug - it just needs a little testing.

Stratum proxy is popular though and should be maintained by someone. I also see it returning random errors in response to client.get_version

I hope someone picks it up. I don't have the time for that myself, though. Sad

one of the problems for me is I sell a lot on ebay.  I push lots of stick users to this site and get them on the easy java client.  many people don't want anything that requires any skill.  Since I sold about 200-300 sticks on ebay to 35-45 buyers I can tell there is a big market for an easy plug n play item.

If the newer 2gh sticks worked as easily on bitminter as the .333gh sticks I could sell thousands of them. not looking to sell thousands just a few hundred like the Am be's.  The only reason I can do okay in mining is I do honest lower cost selling on ebay. It allows newcomers into the market... they get sticks fast with ebay/paypal protection.

Like it or not we miners need this  lot of small mainstream buying  or btc will die.  It is not complicated.  The doctor has 100,000 people that signed onto his site.

most get started small with a gpu  a year ago like I did.  Now this year many came here because some one sold them an AM be.   We now  need the same for these newer sticks. Also they have to be sold with no preorders..  much of the boost new customers  this summer has been ebay sales of sticks.  Why they are on hand and it is safe to buy them. just my take on this.
Oh dear - do you sell them for more than you pay for them?
The buy price for AMUs is a BTC loss for EVERYONE who has so far bought any AMUs and mine PPS or similar with them.

I sell my sticks at the lowest ebay price... so if someone is at 24 I will sell at 23.  what you don't realize for many buyers ebay discounts are available.  so buying 5 sticks from me for 116 which is ebay's best price as i type  may mean the buyer has a 10 dollar coupon even more.  their risk of none delivery is 0 .  there risk of broken gear is 0.  here is a typical sale of mine on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=151122097801&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

If a new person has no btc it is tedious to buy it and newer people are afraid  to send btc to strangers on the net.  A person starting out in the btc world needs an easy path and should not be hurt by sellers asking double my prices.  If they want to take on risk of btc purchase and transfer it to a seller like canaryinthemine i have helped them to do this.

Having a million or 2 million people with a handful of sticks is a good thing for btc. It allows for the coin to become legit. an added safety measure for a wise investor.  This is why preorders are wicked bad when they are not shipped quickly.  But hey that is one mans opinion.

As for roi it ain't easy for most miners only a few of us did this.  I made roi when I sold off my used hd7970's and hd7790's .  most were 75-100% paid off with coins.  so selling them at half price got me to make roi.  this may not be the case with sticks.

I wanted to know if they will plug n play on bitminter.  I run the asic miner sticks now.

Those will not work with the current BitMinter client versions. I'm looking into adding support for them.

You can use them on the BitMinter pool using some incarnation of cgminer or bfgminer though (either the regular or a fork).

not good to hear.

These may end up being a big hit with am stick users.

lots of am sticks have sold and they will be too slow in 3 months or so.

but all of us will have a big hub investment. well it is early in that game and for all I know am will build a better stick.
