price cut and basic black also works for me ,but I not sure that the price cut works for am and its stock price.

lets say 1000 sticks are sold today by canary at .33 btc each that is 330btc gross sales. canary used our labels. so the 330btc needs to stay the same.  so lets take some money off for china to chicago shipping  3btc so you are at 327btc. take some money off for canary's workers 2 btc per 1000 sticks so you are at 325btc. am had to build the sticks say 50btc so profit drops to 275btc.

my guess is not accurate just a guess but how much can you cut?    I would rather they make a faster stick lets say .672gh not.336 like now. make the stick taller since most of us would not mind a 25% height increase if hash doubles. then keep price at the .3-.4 range with 2x hash it is like this one dropped to .165 a stick.

As for cracked cases I got 2 out of 20 but the miners work.    Out of 170 sticks 2 or 3 cracked cases and 1 dud stick.  but the last batch of 20 had  2 of the 3 cracked cases.

Hi there! Staten Island, NY here Smiley

cool I have 4 or 5 friends living there.

to beepbeep2 what state bro?

Quote
Hi guys.

I checked the latest bill again and it seems that we got a nice raise in electricity cost to a whopping 6.86 cents / kWh. My grandfather, on the other side of town, still pays 5.4 cents / kWh, but he does not have internet access. If the 6.86 cents / kWh is still the lowest rate or close to it, I'll be open to hosting the machine. Keep in mind this is a residence, not a commercial building, and I am a freshman in college, most definitely not the oldest guy around. As lame as it sounds, my parents own this house.

I should be able to set up the miner to be web-accessible for monitoring however that would probably leave me vulnerable to DDOS or other attacks...we will have to see what works out. Time Warner likes to switch DCHP IPs around every other lease renew so it is hard for me to be able to even access my own network, some of the time.

If someone or two would like to come down and meet me that's fine, I'd be happy to set up an appointment for that purpose.

-Sam
ps I could be your dad if you are in college as I am 56.

I have been thinking of investing in this - has it been shown legit so far?
Time will tell, so far I'm looking at an ROI of ~3 years based upon current BTC price and current payouts.

Hm, guess I might invest. I just locked in my funds in CoinLenders though, meaning I can't access them and not buy a contract in time for the September contract >.<. Might have to do a loan, as this is quite appealing.

3 years ROI is quite appealing? Or you think more hash power will come online shortly?

joae1975, philipma1957 - am I correct in understanding that you still don't yet have the hashing power that you expected?

Correct but remember diff goes up,  every 10-12 days.

So ,the rise in diff ,the rise in hash, and coin price will determine if I make a profit.

I have collected .278 btc   against a 7.2 btc investment (coins were 100 usd at that time)  coins are now 110 usd.

Do I think this is the best choice you can make no,  but I do think if you are a spread the risk guy like I am you could buy a contract here and buy some coins to hold.
Maybe buy some asic miner sticks.

say a gold 8gh contract for  about 5btc   from cloud hashing

hold 5btc coin  buy the coin from some one like coinbase.com

buy 5 btc  in asic miner sticks.  from a good ebay seller  or from a good seller like canaryinthemine (search him on this forum)

so this is a 15btc investment plan.

you could buy stock in a startup or 2 maybe addiction and labcoin buy 2.5btc worth of each and you put up 20 btc or about 2200usd  .

I have no idea of what you have to invest but always remember  BTC is high risk so do not risk more then you can afford to lose!!

Resets suck but a slow reset works just about every time.

I turn bitminter off.
 I power the hubs down.
 I power the pc off.

 I wait 10 minutes.
I boot.
I power the hubs.
I go to bitminter.
I wait 5 minutes.
I run the client.
I wait for all sticks to show.
I click 3 at a time.  Do not rush

The 10 minute wait is just 10 minutes of mining time wasted.  The 5 minute wait is another 5 minute wasted.

Why don't you just run something like bfgminer that can pick all the sticks up without all that messing about?  Install the VCP USB drivers, plug in each stick and wait a second for it to be given a COM port - this is only required the first time.  Then run bfgminer with the -S erupter:all parameter.  Save you 15+ minutes of farting about.

I'm running a lowly 11 Erupters, and I've had them running on BitMiner for ages using bfgminer, no issues at all.  10 off a cheap hub, #11 on the USB hub on the back of my monitor.

yeah 11 sticks were easy for me to run,
 129 not so easy.

I wait to allow the hubs to cool.

even with the fans I have a bit of a heat issue.  But this is a piece of cake compared to 11 pcs and 23 gpus 3700 watts to run 11gh of hash.  vs 450 watts to run 43gh of hash.
45213  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 24, 2013, 05:48:23 PM
To all those saying "the biggest problem with AM right now is the price has dropped", you need to learn stock ownership 101 basics: if you think a stock is worth owning and the price has dropped, it merely has gone on sale, go buy more.

I may do just that. needs to go to 1.9 for me to buy.
45214  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [16 TH/s] BitMinter.com [ASIC support: var diff, Stratum, GBT, rollntime] on: August 24, 2013, 01:06:15 PM
The problem is actually driving me insane.  I have 5 10 port hubs so 50 asicminers in total I can't startup the computer with them turned on as it won't load windows (just gets to black screen and stays there.)  Once the computer is started I have tried turning them all on at once, one at a time with a minute in between so all devices are recognised.  I've even tried in bitminter turning them on with auto scan for new devices.  When I turn them on with bitminter active, it will normally go to 30 devices then I turn on a 4th or sometimes 5th hub and all asicminer green lights come on and nothing happens.  Sometimes if I restart bitminter enough times they'll all work but it's getting a bit ridiculous.  I came home to all green lights tonight and so far been trying everything for 3 hours and still not mining.  Can you help. it seems others on here are having the same problem.  Could it be something to do with the com port drivers?

Sounds like some really bad USB problems. Not being able to boot with everything enabled doesn't sound good.

philipma1957, did you have these sorts of problems or was it smooth sailing with that many block erupters?

well 129 sticks are a p.i.t.a.     but I like the 43gh hash.

It is all about usb hubs you need good ones.
second trick is the power bricks can be garbage on some hubs.

here is a sleeper usb hub that has a bad brick but add a good brick and it runs 10 sticks

http://www.cooldrives.com/index.php/10-port-usb-3-0-aluminum-desktop-hub-with-led-activity.html

the brick below works on a lot of hubs

http://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-AD-LCD12-Monitors-Adapter-Supply/dp/B000VE7GQQ/ref=pd_cp_pc_1

here are some good hubs

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORICO-Luxury-10-Ports-Aluminium-USB3-0-Super-Speed-HUB-with-Power-Supply-Silver-/151063825722?pt=US_USB_Cables_Hubs_Adapters&hash=item232c1b0d3a

the brick will burn in a few weeks but the hub is good with the replacement brick

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aitech-USB-3-0-10-Port-Hub-with-12V-4A-Power-Adapter-VIA-VL812-Chipset-/281150535287?pt=US_USB_Cables_Hubs_Adapters&hash=item4175e0b677

same here the brick died  but it works great with a replacement linked above.

the one below is a 7 the hub and the brick are good

http://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Professional-Premium-Quality-Chipset/dp/B00B59BFVI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377349692&sr=8-1&keywords=viewhd+usb

Back to doing 129 sticks I have 5 usb fans to cool them I run them in my garage. 2 pcs are needed.  I can get up to 85 sticks on either pc so I can expand a bit.

Do not rush

Now people can get off your nuts! Sheesh.. this coupon shit has been a disaster from the beginning
Yes it has.  I've told friedcat my opinion on coupons.

I assume your opinion was that it is great for your customers, keep 'em coming!

I was thrilled to be included in the first 0.1 coupon (I only got 5 block erupters on that one).  I am excitedly awaiting my next 0.1 coupon from you.  This not only helps bring down my average cost per erupter, but is just in time to ease the pain of the 65M difficulty coming up next week.

I assume we can email you the shipping label this time, right?  Or maybe you can give us a shipping at your cost as a 'Reward' to your loyal paying customers.  :-)

Thanks for running a tight ship Canary!

65 mill diff starts in about 2 hours!

I just got in 20 more AM STICKS  I am running 129 of them my hash is at an all time high of 43000..   that is good news here is some bad news on my bfl jally  wait.  it seems both bfl and i were confused about my early jan 2013 order and it does not exist so there goes 2x jallys down the drain. Here is a post/thread about it.

https://forums.butterflylabs.com/post-sales-customer-service/4478-confused-about-my-jan-25th-2013-order-yesterday-good-now-cancelled.html

8 months back when I first paid for it. well the error appears to have been started by bfl and compounded by me.  there was a time stuff like this would anger me.  well I am interested in how they will fix it.

Just talking about it , it just dropped at 36% 1h32m . Maybe next one will be also under 1h00m.

So you basically say, we should keep on talking about the blocks flying in and they will do so then?  Grin Astonishing! I wonder when the next on will be ...

I am going to think 33.333%

Or just think 33 and 1/3 like a old school record player. I will do this 33 times a day.
45220  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: .10 promotion from ASICMiner distribution by CanaryInTheMine #2 on: August 23, 2013, 01:16:57 PM
Am I correct that in order to take advantage of these promotion, we are to purchase through your website units at request cost?  Determining where I want to order my 5-10 units.  If there is a possibility of thses promotions in the future, it would be benefical to know.  Grin
This is a manufacturer's coupon for previous customers who bought at .99 - 1.99 prices

.99 gets 1 coupon. For those who bought at 1.99 (gb 1 to 6) is it 2 coupons for each  Smiley

I know you are kidding, but dreams are nice.  Remember the diff was under 30 mill even under 20 mill when you paid top dollar.
