perfect time to knock 6usd off the price

however should btc begin to climb again, expect to see the 6USD added back on possibly more...

@3.896 BTC. how much potential profit is left for buyers??

oh. wait, haven't we've already gone over this...

And my recently received dented & buckled rig that was running 'fine' on 9 blades keeps shutting down with the 10th blade in place.

swapped PSU's - no difference but its not often, maybe2-3 times per day...

no beeping, no warning - just shutdown
1382  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Why is BITMAIN selling used products ? on: June 12, 2014, 02:13:12 AM
the damage is the least of it.

even though its totally avoidable.

its the awful service, terrible communications, out&out greed, and obvious disdain for anything other than 'young moolah baayybehhh'

my latest rig is finally hashing (mohstly) but it killed the dented PSU in the process and STILL has missing caps as Bitmain didnt want to supply me with a half dozen...

at current prices and with recent examples of how things can degenerate it makes little sense to gamble on a hit or miss rig with miss or totally miss support.

1383  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Why is BITMAIN selling used products ? on: June 11, 2014, 02:50:00 AM
welcome to reality OP.

it IS disgusting!

it IS immoral!

it IS dishonest!

it IS greedy!

and it probably is illegal, but theyre based in china with a very different mentality than what you may be accustomed to.

he/they also sell;

broken, poorly packaged, late shipped products complete with;

shit PSUs, shit SD cards, shit chinese PSU cables, SHIT thermal compound application & my absolute favourite - SHIT technical assistance & customer service.

dogie approves & justifies this conduct...

iglasses gets it. not much to be done other than sort it out yourself the best you can or abstain from buying.

or you could cut n paste a bunch of stuff and then contact every manufacturer requesting evaluation rigs, this will not gove you a rounded perspective as to their actual behaviour as they will send you a good rig and in good time for free.

but at least you will have positioned yourself well to suck their balls publicly for the awesome gear they gave you for fuck all - while rubbing ppls noses in it who purchased their rigs with their own money and got shafted again and again.

the choice as they say, is yours.

Thanks Avenger. Interesting to revisit that poll and see that I voted "May 2014". At the time I was optimistic that they would come in a little early. Now I'm jaded and grumpy.

Aren't you happily spondooling? I missed on Sp-10 in the last sec because of a stupid gigamine (cbcm) order  Sad
Oh yes, very happy with my SP10! Jaded and grumpy with KnCMiner though - they were the "bees knees" at one point last year, now they have fallen from grace.

Spond has picked up the mantle and upped the game with their professional design and build quality.  They are top dawg now in my book.

They were NEVER the bees knees.

they were merely, HEAVILY sugar coated by easily pleased fraggle types who have little to zero previous experience with much at all.

it was obvious by the end of september what kind of ppl they are/were, if not only for their willingness to pay chumps in hardware to do all the promotion for them - chumps with an aggressive - 'im the best, so theyre the best and you are all just fools for asking questions' mentality.

as i believe faetos recently re-asked... bitcoinorama, where are you now?

still living the dream in sweden??

still sporting girls clothing??

still a gimp... obviously!
1385  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: thread for refunds and compensation of blackarrow X3 on: June 11, 2014, 02:26:20 AM
in my limited experience of retrieving withheld funds from dodgy bitcoin scamming companies, might i suggest bombarding them and every one of their threads/accounts (twitter/facebook etc) with huge red letters.

also attack their trust rating if they have one.

also contact bitpay if you paid via bitpay - they can assist (no guarantees)

Also as you are doing gather as much personal info regarding them and freely post this in big red letters on all their threads/accounts elsewhere.

before i tried this i got ignored by all of them or given the stupid runaround - after a sustained campaign, i have received ALL my refunds.

Best of Luck To You All!!

1386  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit, sales price changes daily, now $2147 per Kit on: June 11, 2014, 02:09:25 AM
Didn't even bother removing the lid on the second one, plugged it in and it just worked - straight to 1TH/s again.

Awesome!  You should probably crack the lid on the second, just to make sure the cards are in good.  Right?

That's the thing - there should be a big metal plate above the cards - they can't come out unless you remove the plate (or bitmain ships you a rig without a plate or foam protection). It felt like I was unpacking an S1 - cardboard box was a bit battered, but inside, the foam was holding the unit very secure. And inside the unit itself - everything is now bolted down big time.

FTFY.

my last one rattled like a broken mirror upon delivery - which took nearly 2 weeks.

still waiting on RMA'd replacement board, capacitors & adequate thermal paste.

Spot the TERRAhash

Spot the discrepancy between 9 blades & 10 blades??

hey bitmain, while your waiting for the DOA board u sent me to return before sending me out another board, how about explaining whats up with B4??

i paid for a TH....

so far thats 0/3.
1389  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit, sales price changes daily, now $2187 per Kit on: June 08, 2014, 02:24:42 PM
Can I get one too, will be much appreciated.

"mitak64" is the name
Did you not get a S2 coupon for your purchase recently?  I only ask because I have these coupons from a purchase that I made on May 28th.

If not and you are planning on another purchase, I will send you one.

Now, for everyone else:

For those that are sending me pm's asking for coupons.  I will probably send you one if you are making a purchase, but if you have been reselling them, then forget it.  If you are not a buyer, dont ask for a coupon.

I guess I need to add that I will not send a coupon to new user accounts either.  You need some history here before I will even think about sending a coupon.

I am willing to send coupons to anyone, especially to newbies, as they are among the most generous in terms of tip so far Smiley

Just send me a PM with your username.

And for the greedy ones, no worry, it is OK if you don't tip, however a "thank you" message would be greatly appreciated. .

if it was you who sent me 1 - many thanks!!

not too inclined to use it as im in a bit of a huff with bitmain at the mo.

hashing under par with busted up rigs and shoddy RMA 'rules' have got me struggling
1390  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: June 08, 2014, 03:08:41 AM
This company's rating has changed in the Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide.

With all due respect, I disagree, Spondoolies-Tech should have been at the very least an A- out of the gate and by now at least an A.

Regards,

~Blaise

yes, but theres nothing like shameless self-promotion.

this kid obviously has plenty of free time on his hands and cobbling together a bunch of half facts and assumptions/'rewards' for a community of lazy, easily pleased 'wannabe' miners has earned him a bunch of free hardware and now tips...

cant knock the guy for gettin in where he fits in.

im far from easily pleased and know full well what goes on but its not really my business.

however there is my opinion - like it or lump it.

and if you really think avalon have earned a B+..... just have a think rather than a guess (and a freebie)
1391  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Capacitor repair on an Antminer S1 board? on: June 08, 2014, 02:58:18 AM
I recently received an S1 which is missing a cap from every pair. It looks like they were just never there. I still haven't heard back from bitmain yet. Does anyone know where we can purchase replacements? As close to these as possible is preferred.

https://i.imgur.com/lj274W7l.jpg

It is very well possible these were 'NOPOPs',
parts that were not ment to be populated
on the board.

Sometimes after testing a design, it turns
out some parts can be omitted without
decreasing the performance of the circuit.
Parts are then not placed during production
in order to save a few bucks.

When the solder on the pads looks nice and
regular, there were never caps on that location.

I understand that, however this unit does not perform as intended, which is why I contacted bitmain. This unit runs quite well for a few hours then performance decreases to a seemingly arbitrary rate. I've had it perform anywhere from 9 to around 140 Gh/s. The only way for me to fix this is to cycle the power.

yea but.... think how many whole cents Bitmain saved.

doesnt it seem worth it now?

Even with all components in place & functioning correctly, i imagine the thermal paste under your s1 blades could well be retarded/ineffective.

IF its even thermal grease...it might just be old engine oil mixed with fake baby milk powder!

Still - waste not, want not!
1392  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Thermal Compound on: June 08, 2014, 12:26:52 AM
What is the name of this miner? Never seen this before.

After cleaning off the old crap with turpentine/white spirits I'd get some non-conductive (should be white not silver) thermal compound from a computer parts store and put a blob of it on each of those copper heat pads and let it spread out when you screw the heatsink back on.

I never bother with anti static wrist bands just touch a copper radiator pipe to discharge yourself.

Thanks for that!

Look closer - i think you will work out who made/sent this shit.

Unfortunately i dont have copper pipes here, PVC only in sunny asia.

I have begged the manufacturer to provide adequate paste (and capacitors) so that i might redo every one of the 30 blades i expect to be as bad if not worse than this, but while i wait for the dead blade to be returned - i thought id get as informed as i can.

i have 2 tiny tubes of generic no-name chinese 'heatsink compounds' which i was thinking of practicing with - but it seems easy enough unless you're;

 a - not trying

or b - trying to fuck it up intentionally

i have 5 x 20ml of Arctic MX-4 on its way(5000miles) which will no doubt turn up before the RMA'd blade(1000miles)

i'll stick up a pic or two when im done.

id be interested to see the state of other manufacturers heatsink/thermal hatchet jobs - but no need to power down to satisfy me, im pretty confident as to what would be uncovered.

@dogie - are you saying that chips with no thermal paste at all are nothing to worry about or to spread it all over everything?

1393  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Putting miner outdoors on: June 07, 2014, 02:29:35 PM
i have 3 S2s, 2 Jupiters, 6 ants & 2 avalons - all outside.

since last year - no worries - just a lot dustier than inside.

How do you protect them from the rain?

porch roof and external walls.

30 - 38C  70-95% Relative Humidity.

monsoons havent killed any of them, nor has boiling water, rice or baking bread right underneath them.

pouring water in them would but excessive steam and condensation do not - remember how hot it is in there..

what SD card do you have in there?

class 10 solves some issues

try removing the 3rd pool if you have one

I just got the stock SD that comes with the miner, but I could try with another that I got around
I just got 2 pools right now

How can I be sure if it's the power supply or the SD card ?

the only way is try changing them one at a time - SD first as its easier.

1397  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit, sales price changes daily, now $2207 per Kit on: June 06, 2014, 05:32:11 PM
Well, so I am having issues with my B2 unit  Cry
From time to it usually powered off itself and I have to open, take the click out and put back in and everything works ok for some time. But today it happens like every 20 minutes or so.
All the asics works ok and I have no further problem, so I guess my power supply is dead yes ?
Does Bitmain provides a new one ?

Hi edgar,

In our previous communication, we agreed to RMA your DOA board and guided you how to ship back the the issue hash board to us. Both shipping label and UPS account are available for global customers. We even traced the the track # in the shipping label we offer you, which is showed 'valid' on UPS page, please call local UPS and try it again.
We will try our best to support you to fix your problems.

By the way, S2 will not fire if it is just missing capacitor, but it is true that the hash rate will be lower than 1Th/s if one board is not wotking normally.

Many Thanks... UPS arrived at 1820 and collected the board.

I look forward to receiving a 'new' board in the coming week/s and some capacitors that i might 'fix' the rig myself as it is 'just missing capacitors', fingers crossed it will all go smoothly.

Some thermal paste would be appreciated though seemingly not particularly necessary according to whomever applies it in the first place. would you advise users to check and perhaps reapply correctly thermal compound to each and every antminer board/heatsink or was i merely unfortunate to have received 'one' such as in the image i sent to you?

if providing sufficient thermal compound is too much please let me know at your earliest convenience that i may order some out of my own pocket before the 'new' blade eventually arrives.

i shall assume you can spare a dozen assorted capacitors?

Your flippant 'by the way' clarification wrt the 'just missing capacitors' safety concern is not unappreciated, however other customers put my fears to rest hours previously for which i remain sincerely grateful for.

so they had as last as can delivery of their nepture or hosting
because if they do it
as fast as they can
