It looks like Phenix 1969 is right about cleaning up the power.

My old UPS was stressed out and would not support the Saturn upgrade to a Jupiter. So, I had it plugged into the wall for a couple of days.

I got an APC BR1500G -- with AVR and AC line filtering. The unit bumped up from 561GHash to about 568Ghash (up to 569). The error rate dropped from 2.5% HW errors to about 1.2% to 1.6% Will know better in a day or so.

The unit now draws about 708 watts -- the UPS can handle 865 Watts -- that gives me five minutes -- which is fine -- I just want the dropouts taken care of so the unit won't reboot on a very short outage.

I also got a better power Supply Seasonic X Series 1050W (80 Plus Gold). That did not work out so well -- it just shuts off after about 30 seconds to a minute. I guess the 12V line cannot take the stress. I will see if the store will swap it for a different unit.

The Corsair GS800 power supply is back in use. I suspect it's noisy and that a better unit would give a slight improvement in the error rate.

Cheers.

except short term mine says anything up to 680+++

eventually it simmers down to 529 regardless. Right now its at 509 ffs!

perhaps we all need to rewire our houses for optimal performance of a 600w rig or 2 ( i can see this being a good idea for cats with half a dozen rigs for sure) but will it bring dead dies back to life???

will the 'tuning suite'?

Very Well Done.

details

performance...

Now I'm a retard, and a jackass according to edgar & xtr8guy...  quite the accomplishment.
To me, chastising someone for trying to help is retarded.
If you don't like my comments, PLEASE, feel free to put me on ignore.
This is totally unproductive, and I'd rather not waste time on such.

Appreciate the lessened uptime, but dont play the victim again - bragging and repeating irrelevant non help isnt trying to help, its called blowing your own trumpet and its annoying. Just like being called on it is annoying.

Its not the first time its been mentioned, and not by just 1 person who finds it distasteful.

I dont wish to ignore you, you have made some very decent posts but you do go on & on...

i also disagree its unproductive to get closer to each other and let others know when they cross boundaries - we can all learn from each other.

As for my earlier post, im not 100% sure what it means, presumably a number of things.

It was indeed stated that the Nov rigs are to be expected to hash at 650Gh/s or more, but 1200w...

the 'recommended''inclined to go for' silent pro gold 1200w only has 2 PCI-e ports while the not powerful enough v1000 has 4 ports...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.msg3613013#msg3613013

the hosted novembers will be powered by 2 v850s so presumably they have PCI-e cables coming out of their ears in stockholm...

but my emphasis was regarding the lack of direct feedback concerning using only 3 cables on the october rigs and 0die dc/dc low current concerns which for most seem to have been rectified, thankfully by repeated reboots & fw upgrades & downgrades.

but NOT Mine!

does anyone with the right knowledge know if using only 3 cables is even possible to effect or be caused by the vrm/0die dc/dc low current problems??

1704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 23, 2013, 12:38:32 PM
well at least u got it sorted.

if my creep up continues for a month i could be back in 550 territory.

roll on the 'tuning suite'

and Nov shipping!

To maximise the performance of your November shipment orders, we recommend the following:
- for November Jupiter’s a 1200 Watt PSU with a minimum of four separate PCI-E adaptors (6 pins or 6+2 pin).
- for November Saturn’s an 850 Watt PSU with a minimum of two separate PCI-E adaptors (6 pins or 6+2 pin).
1705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 23, 2013, 12:12:14 PM
does this give you any clues as to a next step?

are you privy to the 'tuning suite' development at all?

also are you using 3 PCI-e cables or 4 or a twin molex to PCI-e??
No
No
No

I only have a saturn  Tongue so 2 PCI-e cables and 1 molex.

I did some experimenting with much less aggressive disabling of cores and found it had absolutely no useful effect on hashrate. They're being disabled for a reason.

gimme my money back!!!

>jk guys< >jk< put ur brokeback pitchforks & tarring feathers away!!

Have you had a fiddle with the VRMs at all?

including the 'clicking down' of each VRM

And the tightening of the arctic heatsink screws if req'd?

Thank You More!!

Does this give you any clues as to a next step?

are you privy to the 'tuning suite' development at all?

also for your 4th module are you using 3 PCI-e cables or 4? (or a twin molex to PCI-e?)
1707  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: November 23, 2013, 11:59:36 AM
according to conman (ckolivas) the yellow light blinking is the rig receiving new work - my rigs started to do it on the last fw update and theyve never been better.

there is a 'NEW" fw but i havent touched it as im happy with my rigs

if possible i would ask for any small donations to be made to him - he did more for avalon than avalon did themsleves - and now he seems to be going about the same thing for KNC & others.

Calm down folks. I just posted it to let people know it happens even to developers, and have read what people suggested, but none of those fixed my particular issue. Every time I try one of those fixes things seem to just get a little worse so I'm afraid to touch it now...

Conman - did you try the hard reset - 5 times + 5secs + 5 times?
Yep, didn't make a difference.

thx & sorry it didnt help.

you made it quite clear nothing advised had helped but some people need it literally spelled out to get a clue.

what GH/s rate are you getting now?

mine has s.l.o.w.l.y crawled up to 530.1Gh/s over the past few days. could be and has been a lot worse.

Pheoolish - We ARE the relevant bodies... Wrong - KNC (orSoc) the engineers are. 'WE' are merely the investdurrs. THIS IS REALITY

This is all new. If nobody shared in here, we'd be alot less farther along.
NOT IF EVERYBODY SHARED A SACK OF BALLS...

If we all sat on our duffs waiting for KNC to answer every little question or comment where would we be?
WE??? you are fine!! it is WE that are STILL suffering lower than average hashrates - the fact the yours are 'awesome' is not missed on anyone here.

and if I want to boast how awesome my KNC machines are... I'll do so!   got that?

eqwawwy - if i want to tell you to keep your pointless shit to yoursewf i'll do so.... got THAT??

you sound like bitcoinorama, making stuff up, calling yourself 'we' and pleading victimization when told to give it a rest.

now how about those v850s & PCI-e cables??

1711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 23, 2013, 09:05:31 AM

i am in exactly the same boat and feel exactly the same way and im not in the least bit as competent as you.

i for one appreciate your ongoing input and contributions! without which i would have lost all faith in mining as a whole.

there a a handful of equally splendid unsung heroes here who all are appreciated, silently or otherwise.

on another note, my question to anyone regarding the twin PCI-e connector heating up remains unanswered directly.

i am aware it 'works'  but the heat generated cannot be good - i have a 1 month old dead v850 that is possible evidence of this.

as to whether the heat is a cause or a reaction of the 0die low current issue is yet to be explained.

however - on a more recent posting the november rigs are recommended to use not only a 1200w psu but to have 'the correct number of PCI-e cables'

it seems there is more known than is freely offered & less said about present day issues than is needed...

tl:dr - ewik da ewoks wigs are wurkin juss fyne evewybody...

Conman - did you try the hard reset - 5 times + 5secs + 5 times?
1712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 23, 2013, 06:19:40 AM
Oh well, I guess I'll pry myself away from the computers
and do some actual labor around the farm today.....
Things are beginning to look like I abandoned
the place.... lol

BTW:
Cointerra is saying mid February for Batch 1 Tear-the-money-from-your-wallet-Miner...!
Hashfast is sayin' Mid December for Batch 1 Baby Jetgusher...!
I don't feel any others are even worth mentioning....lol
Looks as if both CT & HF are taking March orders now....
and HF is asking the same price for a March unit,as they charged for a December unit....  OMG
Those Guys in So-Cal are smoking some good stuff...  lol
GO KNC!

Farm huh?  Maui Waui?   Grin

And who's in SoCal?  Cointerra is in Austin and HashFast is in Silicon Valley.
okay, silicon valley...
...and no, I'm on the actual Island of Hawaii, not Maui...
although the State is also called Hawaii....  we have 7 islands

BTW... what is this?...poke Ewok hour?  Cheesy

Anyone else notice NMC went to $2.50... !

I guess you didn't understand my joke about what you grow on your farm.  Just meant to be fun.

And thanks for the geography lesson.  I had no idea that Hawaii was an island... let alone 7!

Jackass.

+3

@bogart - do you have any close ups of the areas you advised checking for 'opens' around the VRMs??

That must have been another user...

maybe it got so hot as to melt solder and create an open.

That's would be what I would look for.

Use a flashlight and a magnifier and check the big power-carrying solder joints for hairline "cracks".  You can try push/pulling on the VRM too and looking for movement of the pin in the solder pool.

I used to see this all the time in old TVs and monitors and such.
1713  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: November 23, 2013, 06:18:13 AM
thankyou profmac

what are you getting GH/s wise now?
1714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 23, 2013, 06:15:47 AM
eat your shorts Huh dont be a retard by choice!

Conman is Ckolivas - just cos u dont know that you jump to retarded assumptions that something is a con.

you can think all you like but spamming the thread with - do what i did it works for me 15 times a day is hardly helping anyone except your weird ewok ego.

i am doing what i must to try & solve the problem i have, namely keeping the issue in the relevant peoples minds as some ppl wish to assume/falsely claim its all sorted just because their problems are solved - vain egotistical selfishness...

you can keep your version of help to yourself if all it consists of is....do what ewik da ewok did, it works for ewik.

as for ghosts & bugs & gremlins - they are coding issues that REQUIRE fixing so the LESS FORTUNATE can enjoy reasonable hashrates...

NOT paranormal entitites, as in we are not all children that need to act out our ego fantasy role play stupidity.

we ALL deserve a fully functional rig & our concerns addressed by the relevant bodies..

i think you need to spend less time online boasting and waffling and get outside. i assume its a beautiful day in/on hawaii & winter is coming

No offense, but I'm so tired of seeing "I'm this manu's cheerleader and I'll keep answering positively for them while they remain silent".  I work 70+ hour weeks and I can still post on this forum, no excuse for a vendor to not keep people interested.

This - while not on ignore I generally don't read anything this sushi guy says as it is always blatant pump up rah rah bullshit.. gets old real fast..

Yup!!

I got an attack of the network lags after upgrading to 0.99  Angry

Downgrading didn't help, powering down, restarting and rebooting didn't help. Even with cgminer not running ping times can take up to 2 seconds. SSH'ing in is excruciatingly slow. One time I couldn't even ssh in until I restarted it again. I just barely got it mining again. I saw others had gremlins that went away, but I can't seem to find any way to repair it.

Phoenix begs to differ. (& he never stops learning)

Also - bitcoinorama called them 'ghosts'

....ghosts!

Keep at it ConMan!!

also this!

sad to be glad that someone who knows how to fix these issues is also suffering...

i would've requested an RMA already had i any confidence it would be quick and effective

i do not

@bogart - do you have any close ups of the areas you advised checking for 'opens' around the VRMs??

if there is an obvious error that can be fixed in a jiffy it may help the 'few' who still struggle to get anywhere near the 550 - 560

im fortunate to be stable at 529.8 and unwilling to send it back to maybe get a worse module sent back - for now.

@ phoenix below - yes, we know!  you may have mentioned that 46000 1 or 2 times - i seem to recall trying to remind the fortunate that not all tricks help everyone...

as you seem to have taken into account - not all posts get the recognition they deserve. (and therefore require pea-roasting)

if we all rode bicycles - the roads would be charming.

pollution would be much less.

and dickheads who need to speed/drive like shit wouldnt kill so many people needlessly EVERY DAY
1720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 23, 2013, 02:49:11 AM
Maybe I used 2 coolermaster v1000 for November Jupiter

how would that work?

You just plug 2 of the modules in one and 2 into the other + a molex from one of them powers the controller board. And you have to start them at the same time.

But it's a complete overkill.
EVGA SuperNova 1300W is your best best: awesome quality, enough PCI-E ports and cables and 10 year warranty.

Thx - the biggest ive seen locally is an 1100 and im a bit iffy using that when the 'official' stance is 1200ftw - but i'll see if i can find a 1300 elsewhere - its not as if the rig/s are en route

also - cooler master only give out free cables to US customers - i paid 15 euro for 4 pci-e (inc. shipping)
