"Need to know" Basics...
Plugging in the pci cable fully can be tricky, as most of the cubes have the pcb mounted about 1mm too low, and the plug tends to catch on the bottom of the hole in the cube. In order to get them to fully plug in FULLY, you must slightly LIFT UP and push in on the pci plug after it first gets a bite for it to fully slide into the plug socket.
If you miss it, and it fails to fully latch, it may indeed melt; especially if your psu employs 16awg wires.
Seeing a single wire on the pci plug begin the meltdown is a sure sign of a poor connection...
and if you use a dab of conductive grease on each pci connection, it will also help make good contact, and avoid all this.
power delivery is 95% on these imho
Plugging and unplugging the pci plugs too much or not gentile can also quickly loosen the connections.
What a fail engineering for a 10k$ device! Are you seriously still at it?? are you actually trying to deflect criticism of your crew with this ancient crap?? KnC have been a bunch of cunts for almost a full year now, how long until you dwell fully in that bracket? |

No other type of company IN THE WORLD can get away with sales like that. Why, because 99% of them
work with CC sales and they know that if they screw you, you can go back to the CC company and force
a refund by issuing a charge cancellation or charge back.
The ASIC manufacturers are STILL hiding behind the BTC payment only, no refund policy because they
know there is a GOOD chance they will fall short and people will ask for refunds.
It works out better for them to calculate a partial refund / interest free loan / that works for them and
not you.
This is the last time I ever order any ASIC gear EVER. Its just the last staw for me.

Its a shame that it ends this way. The attitude of 'some' of these self appointed 'front/middlemen' makes it infuriating when things go wrong. I have a two week-old S2 Antminer that has ceased hashing and both LEDs are now on. I have not opened the case to check the connections but if you recommend that I so so, I will. I am concerned that something more serious and fatal may have happened. My system has not overheated and is kept in a well air-conditioned cabinet. I would like to know if any other members have had a similar experience and if so, how the episode was resolved.

When I try to objectively read through all the comments here from people who seem like they are Alpha-T customers, I see a repeating pattern … good people having a hard time coming to terms with the idea that there are people in this world who will blatantly lie to you and manipulate you for profit. Acknowledging that there are people in this world who want to take what you have and will use any means possible to succeed is hard for good people. Acknowledging that not all people are good is hard for good people.
These kind of people not only take your money, they also take your faith in the goodness of human nature.
I am not going to say that Alpha-T have been lying to their customers, or scamming their customers, or anything else negative about Alpha-T because I don't know that to be true and there is always the chance, however slim, that they are just poor at communication or bad at execution or any number of other possible reasons for not having a prototype to show 2 days after their stated project end.
But when I see that carrot (increase in power, promises that the project is doing well and is on time, improved chip performance numbers, etc) dangling in the air all the way to the end (credit card payment facilities finally up, 2 week to pay or else) I am left with the feeling that something is going on here that isn't right.
And somebody with the authority to investigate the facts needs to start investigating ASAP.
