We need a pool up so its fair atleast to a point for those noobs like me

ocminer will hopefully have the pool up in 5-7 hours from now at https://exp.suprnova.cc .

If he wants to bring the pool up sooner that would be nice, but it is his pool and up to him. (Although you can pre register and get ready)

Would be awesome if he did. He makes a few from everyone so he gets something from it

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Difficulty 2.6 G now. Started at 1.0 G

That's why the blocks are still coming fast.

I could understand from his perspective, he wants the pool to run smooth. Letting the network settle before staring it would minimize the issues.

So without peers solo mining is worthless...

Without peers, you can not update to the latest block/chain, which in turn you can not solo mine and/or send or receive EXP.

Are there any clear and concise instruction on how to mine using Windows? (x64) I have tried following the instructions for Windows and it just doesn't work.

In the updated instructions, it starts with:

Quote
Doubleclick Setup_Step2_genesis.bat

Then:

Quote
Doubleclick Start_Expanse.bat

and finally:

Quote
Doubleclick Start_Mining.bat

I do all the above in sequence and nothing happens. If I run any of them as administrator, it just flashed up the cmd window and then disappears.

Also, and this may not have anything to do with it at all, but if I run Setup_Step_1_new_account.bat (which aren't in the instructions) It will allow me to type y/n for the terms etc, but when it asks me to type in a passphrase, it won't let me type anything?

YES, you get coins, but they are worthless. Many users mining on test net , and think they have a lot of coins. Launch was not so smooth after all, but everything looks smooth Cheesy

Are there any clear and concise instruction on how to mine using Windows? (x64) I have tried following the instructions for Windows and it just doesn't work.

In the updated instructions, it starts with:

Quote
Doubleclick Setup_Step2_genesis.bat

Then:

Also, and this may not have anything to do with it at all, but if I run Setup_Step_1_new_account.bat (which aren't in the instructions) It will allow me to type y/n for the terms etc, but when it asks me to type in a passphrase, it won't let me type anything?

You have to make sure to close the genesis bat after you run it. Also, make sure no other instances of the wallet is running.
