finally Sinner is showing a minimum of continuity in his results and against Tsitsipas, it was not so easy to predict a victory with this effort... who knows if Sinner will be able to reach the final again

I've only seen part of the first set. No idea how it stands now but the first et was a big punishment for Wrawrinka who only won 1 game in the first set. It's bound to be an easy win for the tall Sinner. He can certainly make it to the final, but I suspect it won't be easy. He still faces quite a bit of resistance. Medvedev is also still in the tournament. We also see the Greek track against Gijs Brouwer in another quarterfinal, which I had not added to my list. We now have to wait for the next Grand Slam in the summer, a pity that there is always so much time in a year.

Sinner got the job done in 2 sets and a bit over an hour. A fairly straight forward match
really, 6-1 in the first set, Stan made a bit of a bigger challenge in the first half of
the second set but Jannik was stronger, he has definitely carried that focus and momentum
from yesterdays win against Tsitsipas, he just needs to keep carrying it to the final.

He really is looking like a contender for the title based on those two matches.

Have to agree here, he showed by far the best game so far and he will have easy job in semi final. Not taking him as outright winner just because it will be final against Medvedev probably and he has terrible H2H with him. They played 4 times, all 4 times on this surface and Medvedev won all 4 matches. Granted Medvedev was in much better form then and Sinner still wasn't the player he is today but 4:0 H2H leaves some scars and Medvedev will have big mental advantage.

Both Medvedev and Sinner have easy matches for the final especially Sinner that can win easily. Still want that final between Medvedev and Sinner and i think we are really close to see and epic match betweem these two players. But Medvedev plays against Dimitrov so it wont be that easy

Yea both should win today to set up a final.

The final itself if and when Medvedev/Sinner meet should be epic eventhough
as Trofo points out the 4/0 H2H, I believe it might start to change in Sinners favour.

Medvedev is building and from match to match we can see his confidence growing.
Sinner has reached a new level and unlike in the past he seems to be able to maintain
his professionalism, mentality, focus and high intensity. Will it be enough to potentially
beat Medvedev?

Todays matches will reveal a bit more, in theory bothvshould win in 2 sets.

My bet would be on Medvedev. He has recovered after a series of bitter losses and is now stronger and hungrier than before (just like Swiatek in WTA now). He also has more big tournament and final experience than Jannik.  Cool

I would agree with you, Medvedev is likely to win today, I think/hope it will be close, both
players have shown enough to suggest this.

I'm a fan of both players but I would love to see Jannik win today. He has been working
towards this and everyone has been talking him and his abilities up all last year.

He was pushed to the limit yesterday against Griekspoor but kept his usual persona and
focus to take the win.

In the WTA in Qatar yesterday Swiatek announced her return to the 2023 season
by beating Pegula 6-3, 6-0 - too easy.

finally Sinner is showing a minimum of continuity in his results and against Tsitsipas, it was not so easy to predict a victory with this effort... who knows if Sinner will be able to reach the final again

Cool

But Sinner could be a star in the making. Medvedev is six years older and does of course have more experience, but Sinner plays some outstanding tennis quite often. I like that he isn't giving up at all. Medvedev is similar when it comes to maximum motivation, but when I watch them play I think that Medvedev is giving up faster sometimes. And the statistics aren't so bad for Sinner compared to Medvedev. This could definitely be a 50:50 game between the two. Beating the world no. 3 Tsitsipas in two straight sets with so much dominance is not easy at all.

In my opinion, Medvedev has a very good fight on his hand. I know that the odds are heavily in favor of Medvedev, but I believe Sinner is on a very good winning streak right now. If I am not wrong, he is on a 7 matches winning streak. He has also just won a title in Montpellier. So that is something that is going to give Sinner a good confidence boost.

If we talk about head to head competition, of course, Medvedev is going to be far ahead. I can see it is four-zero in favor of Medvedev.

I am actually a little confused about picking a winner in this match. If we think about the current form of course Sinner is going to stay ahead in my opinion. But if we think about both of them and the head to head competition, Medvedev is the one.

Sinner is actually quite good at the moment and when he can beat Tsitsipas in the previous round it proves that he is indeed performing well and that increases his confidence because Tsitsipas was his toughest opponent before going to the final, but I predict that Medvedev will win the match in a tight match and ended up with 3 sets

Sinner haven't won against Medvedev in his previous four meetings. This gives more confidence to Medvedev while Sinner will be trying his best to make a win. Medvedev playing against the youngest Sinner will have good fightback and the match doesn't end like the semifinals that he had against Dimitrov. Right now Sinner leads the first set 3-1

Medvedev the tournament winner of the tournament in Rotterdam. Sinner certainly didn't play badly, but turned out to be just too unstable to win this tournament. After the first set it was over for Sinner. Medvedev started playing differently and in both sets he quickly broke his opponents serve and recorded an easy victory. Alcaraz is currently playing against Norrie in the tournament in Buenos Aires. I wonder how Alcaraz will play, he had an injury for a while but at the current score it is 5-3 in favor of Alcaraz in the first set. I am looking forwards to a game between Nadal and Alcaraz.

I wouldnt say Sinner was unstable, he was actually quite stable in his mentality as was
Medvedev actually.

The match for me was actually closer than the second and third sets suggest, Sinner
in the end had far too many unforced errors which I am putting down to the long rallies,
medvedev is comfortable enough hitting baseline exchanges, sinner was too but
they took their toll on him in the end.

Great match all the same, I didnt bet on either.

I think Sinner just ran out of gas in the 3rd. Too many close calls right outside the line. He needs to work on his fitness. 1st set both played at crazy pace but Medvedev turned out to have more stamina.

It certainly cannot be said that Sinner is unstable because when he lost in the final it was not because he was unstable but because his opponent was able to put more pressure on him so he made quite a few mistakes, it's just that this made his bad record against Medvedev even longer.

The next ATP Rio tournament is a tournament with Alcaraz's favorite type of surface and seeing the draw Alcaraz will be quite easy to reach the final and add to the title after winning in Argentina before

Just looking at the game schedule in Rio I dont see too many serious contenders for Alcaraz.
Norrie, Musetti, Cerúndolo and Swartzman being the top and seeded 2 to 5 with Alcaraz being
number 1!.

It will be interesting to see how he progresses here.

After Medvedev victory in Rotterdam he is back in the top 10. He moved up 2 places from place 11 to place 9. With his first tournament win this year he seems to be in good form. Last year he only won his first tournament in August in Mexico.
He will serve in Doha (Katar) at Wednesday. There he has the opportunity for another victory.

It might be the experience that plays into the hands of Medvedev when it comes to three set games with long rallies, but I just saw that Sinner won his first tournaments at age 19 onwards. He is not that different from Medvedev and also played a couple of great tournaments already. He seems as if he has more in the tank and is still developing a a player. I just remember this quarter final against Djokovic in Wimbledon, which was a five set game and Sinner played like a maniac in first two sets but then lost it big time in the third/fourth/fifth. Djokovic is probably not the best example as he frequently turns around a 0:2 in sets, but still that was so high quality tennis that I thought if he can keep that level for an entire game, he could probably be a no.1 player one day.
