History has been made! Congratulations to Lebron James surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the All Time Scoring Leader in NBA history.

LeBron is on fire in the game against the Thunder. It looks like he scored 36 points too easily, and now he can be called the scoring king, as he is officially the all-time leading scorer in NBA history. It would be nice if the Lakers won on this historic night, but LeBron clearly needs the support of his teammates in the fourth quarter as the Thunder still leads by a few points.

It was done in front of the Lakers' crowd. LeBron breaks Kareem's all-time leading scorer, nothing to say but to congratulate him and all those who support him from the beginning of his career.

Amazing standing ovation for the king, he truly deserves the praise, a good example of an athlete
who dedicate not just his skills but more on how to be a good example in maintaining your physical
health.

He was on a mission to break the record of Kareem, he even break that in the 3rd quarter, just too early as I thought he'll make it in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, the Lakers may be too overwhelmed by the success of Lebron that they forgot how to defend, yes, they lose in this game too.

Lebron just needs the 1st 3 quarters to achieve greatness, in the 4th quarter, he only scored few points so that does not really help at all. They have to remember that they need to win more to improve their chance in the playoffs because if they will not make it to the playoffs this season, it will not help Lebron's legacy. I mean, people will be thinking that he is good on individual talent but not so good in carrying a team despite he has formed a super team.

Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks

From his first shot way back to 2003, to being the youngest player to get 10,000 points, to youngest to get 20,000 points, to youngest to get 30,000 points and now the record that most of the people see as a record that's impossible to be broken has been done by the kid from Akron, Ohio. The kid who wants to be a pass-first guy, broke the scoring record that's been unbreakable for nearly 4 decades

He's just amazing. I have nothing to say and I'm literally crying and at the same time, happy with what he achieved. Whether you are a fan of Lebron or a hater of Lebron, maybe you are happy with what he achieved. From his former teammates, to popular celebrities, to even President Biden. They are all congratulating him for what he achieved in his 20-year NBA journey.

Now that the history has been made and we've seen Lebron James beating Kareem's record that he held for nearly 4 decades, the question right now that comes to my mind is "Can he reached 40,000 points?" I mean it just came out of my mind and he still have one and a half season on his contract so there might be a chance that he can reach that milestone unless, he will lay-low in his future games.

Anyway, I'm still amazed on what he achieved. I'm not a big fan of Lebron, but to see him being the new all-time scoring leader aside to the fact that he is also at the top 5 in assists all-time is just something that nobody can break. TBH, I don't know if there is somebody that can break Lebron's record in the next decade or two unless there will be a massive change in terms of offense.

Great time to break a scoring record while LeBron is on fire, unfortunately the Thunder spoiled it by handing them over the L. Now that LeBron is sitting at the top of everyone in terms of all time scoring, this somehow will not end the goat debate lol and that's for sure, this will only add fuel to this burning goat debate lol.

Anyway, I was wondering if there are people who put a bet on this one? I mean LeBron breaking the record against OKC and not against the Bucks.

Yep, he can do it with the time left in his contract. He just needs to average at least 20 ppg.

Finally, Lebron did it. I thought this is going to be how Steph Curry suffered because of the weight of record-breaking event. Too many people are expecting and had a difficult time shooting the three. Lebron on the other hand didn't have much trouble, 20 points at halftime means he could really do it.
I am glad they gave way to celebrate it even if there's 10 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.
Record broken, history re-written, there's a lot of doubt it could be done because MJ can't, Kobe too, but Lebron James did it even on a rough road, truly magnificent. He should add more points because Luka Doncic might get there.

He deserve to be at the top, that's the reason why he is called the King.
Cried due to happiness, this guy is really genuine. I think it's already expected that he will beak the record because it happened too early.
Also, as we are celebrating, I'm also happy to celebrate my bet because I was able to put a bet on Lebron scoring 35+ in that certain game.
I'll never forget that because it's all written now in the history.

He should add more points because Luka Doncic might get there.
Sure he will because as long as he is healthy, he will have more season to play.

Cam Thomas on the other hand has the shooter's stroke, this is not the first that he had this scoring madness. Back against Indiana he made 33 points and most of it came from a 2-pointer, he only made 3 distance shots in that game.
I think a bright future is smiling at him if he continues this scoring streak. (given the minutes)
I really like this kid though, not that the limelight is on him, hopefully he will not melt under pressure with that two game with 40 or more points and then having that distinction with a young Lebron James doing that feat before.
That's now three consecutive games with 40+ points. Dude is overflowing with confidence and it shows in his stats sheet.
What would happen to him when KD comes back? I mean, he did great even with Simmons there but when another offensive player is there the ball won't be on his hands all the time, worst is when Dinwiddie is playing too.
Expecting Coach Vaughn to maximize that talent even with their stars coming back to play.

Twitter explodes about Lebron and so do Instagram and Facebook with the recent breaking of the all-time scoring record. He deserves it. Determination, hard work, the activity, and especially for the love of the sport. There will be a never-ending debate about who is the GOAT, but for me, he will be the GOAT of his own era. No doubt.
I bet the brainy people are just looking at making his tearful face be another meme.  Grin
@Ziskinberg Congrats on the bet, nice catch for the 35+.

Unfortunately, they lost the game, but everyone is at their feet when he broke the record, and then he acknowledge Kareem himself and Magic and his family and of course the NBA.

This is one for the history books folks, majority of us never got the chance to see Jabbar have that record. But in this era, we've witnessed Lebron James and still continue to score in this season to break away from the pack.

They did not complete the success, they were so focused on Lebron achieving his success but their defense was very weak. I know OKC is a good offensive team, but they allow the team to score 133 points, that's too much if the defense was in place.  Lakers needs to improve their defense, no excuses now as Davis is back, they are a healthy team now.

Absolutely because those people who hate him are only making some reasons to not recognize him as the GOAT. as for me, I don't believe in such a myth because we all know, it's not a one-man team and they truly need their teammates to get those championships and personal NBA records. That's why when MJ said GOAT is just a dumb thing but the reality is who is the Greatest Team of All Time, Star players need to know how to put credit on their teammates instead of taking all the spotlight for them because, after all, it's Basketball, not Boxing.

To bad for them to get that record in a lose state since that doesn't give the recognition in full blast. But still record still a record and Lakers management help Lebron to achieve it so there's still lot to celebrate in this historic day. For sure there will be more points to be added for lebron so that this record will be hard to break by anyone so let see how they can handle this especially when they also need to win their games.

We can't compare them to boxing though, basketball is a team sports. Different eras, different GOAT. For now those who grow up watching Lebron James then he could be the GOAT specially on what he has accomplished in 20 years playing.

So we just have to admire his work, the entirety, the teams that he had played, the championships he won, the awards and now on top of the scoring record and his name also etched in the annals of Lakers history.

Anyway, I was wondering if there are people who put a bet on this one? I mean LeBron breaking the record against OKC and not against the Bucks.

That Goat discussion will lead to nowhere, everyone has his own goat, based on our criteria.

We should be be thankful for those who have seen the era of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and now Lebron James reach greatness. In terms of ring, of course Jordan 6 out of 6. And if Lebron will just win one or two, then he could be in the Mt. Rushmore of basketball.

40,000 points is not that far for Lebron to reach, he is not stopping and getting stronger and probably can still go and play in the next 2-3 years, high level of basketball.

Can't blame though because after all, this kind of event happens only once in a blue moon. We see it as an unfortunate loss, but what if the Lakers are at the top right now? Do we see the same thing. Come to think of it. When will be the next time that we will see a player breaking Lebron's scoring record?

It's very unfortunate that the Lakers dropped their defense, and let their opponents score 133 points, but to see this once-in-a-lifetime event is more than a win already and for sure the Lakers will understand it. I'm not a Lakers fan, but for sure, Laker nation are happy with the history that they saw and they don't care about the loss they got tonight. Cheesy

Let's watch the full interview of Lebron James after getting the scoring record. It's a good interview (at least for me).

No doubt with the way he takes good care of his health, the chance to stay for another couple of years is possible for this star. I don't
want to join the discussion about the goat thing.

I both watch those names you mentioned and I would agree with your statement, better to cherish their legacy in their own era
and treasure all the memories that they've brought to this sport.

Enjoy while we still have him playing and showing his greatness even against those new bloods and strong competitors!

Who's betting on Lebron to break the points made of all time tomorrow?

Based on my sportsbook, Lebron is 2.12 if he will score 35+ points, that's a huge number but I believe he will likely achieve that tomorrow since OKC is not so defensive, they even score over 150 before, so for sure it will be a battle of offense.

Well, it you got it all right mate and I hope you placed your bet towards LeBron to score 35+ points because he indeed did it earlier and scored 38 points for the LAL.
What a good sight to see, right? A rare event took place because that specific record that LeBron James broke took almost 40 years after Kareem's time.

Now, I somehow regretted the chance to bet on Thunders side to win the game because I seriously thought that the Lakers would take the game home. It seems to me that the Lakers aren't defending their ground after all because the Thunders score continues to balloon as every quarter goes.

Valid thoughts, possibly that he has really done it on purpose and the timing was perfect. He's known for that whenever there were some issues before about him.
Instead of the potential history that Lebron is about to make, he's become the talk first before that happens. Possible also that it's just mere coincidence but as we all know, everything and the timing was totally perfect.

I do know and am well aware that Kyrie Irving does really have an unusual character since then and does crazy things unexpectedly out of the blue, and even has a toxic attitude to everybody, with no expectation, but your guesses are maybe too much and really insane to think.

Asking trade just to try not to be overshadowed in the news because of Lebron James' hype in breaking a big record this week? That was funny to think. Grin

It's not even a coincidence. It's just that it happened simply. No need to overthink that.
That's just an assumption and it's timely to think of but yeah, let's just spare that moment for him and Lebron as both are having their own highlights for this season.
Anyway, I'm seeing a lot of memes about Kyrie on what he has said during his early days in the Nets that he won't leave 7. It's just a meme and we know change is constant but those were really funny ones.

Kyrie just love to move in different teams, well, he has that liberty because he is really good, and just like what happened, even the Lakers are trying to join the trade but the Nets ask too much for them so they cannot get Irving. Now that he is on his new team, even if he'll promise that he will retire being a Mavericks player, we should not expect that, and that would also help the fans so they'll not be hurt enough once Irving will leave.

If Irving will renew his contract with the Dallas Mavericks, then he might likely stay for a while.
He's not happy with the management that's why he choose to ask for trade. But since he land on a Dallas which have good management maybe he might like to stay there especially he has  Luka which is proven to be one of the best and their current rooster is solid already. If Kyrie decide to leave after his contract end maybe kyrie just only want to make his name create noise again. If he keep doing that I don't know if there's still a team will get him in future even if he is so good.

But its speculated that after his contract with mavs he will not sign and decide to go with Lakers but let see if this happen.

Honestly, that gives me curiosity as well if Kryie Irving was just trying to be relevant or what because every now and then, he repeatedly ask for a trade before his contract expires even after the fact that he said himself he will stay on the team. But maybe this time, Kyrie will stay as long as he will get what he wanted because there's no question about his talent, really and surely, the Mavs management can do that for him and provide extension if his performance is needed by the team.

I don't join discussions about the GOAT too as it leads nowhere. Both parties will just keep on going back and forth without anyone admitting defeat. In short, it's nonsense.
There are many ways to just close that debate. Give them their own eras as the GOAT because they are strong on that kind of NBA unlike now where the rules keep on changing.
MJ, Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, Steph Curry, Lebron James, and even Dirk Nowitzki has his own GOAT era where he defeated the strongest team ever built in Miami Heat.
It's not like he just sits there and watches his teammates win the game, he freaking broke the big wall with his offensive greatness, especially those damn perfect free throws. That is one of the unforgotten championships of the league and yet he is not involved in the GOAT talks.  Cheesy

If we start that here, it's going to take a lot of pages of this thread.  Cheesy
