Reaves turning down an offer like that makes me hope we don't see a repeat of what happened with Schroder. He declined that $84M extension over four years after the Lakers won the championship, and it ended up being one of the biggest mistakes of his NBA career. Since then, he hasn't really been able to land a solid contract. Hopefully Reaves doesn’t follow that same path.
Its really scary especially that we see a Schroder like incident on where they ruin everything just for turning down the offer of Lakers. Now Reaves is entering the same scenario and this is huge gamble for his career. Hopefully his agent would do a nice thing towards negotiating with other team and he could get those salary and position that he like for his potential new teams. To bad if he also receive a same like situation and receive much smaller pay check just like what happen to Schroder. They probably already have options lined up for Reaves where he can earn a good salary and take home better net pay after taxes, we all know how heavy taxes can be. Reaves is still young and coming off solid stats, so it’s normal for him to look for a team that can fully maximize his value. But they’ll have to play their cards right. A lot of players have made the wrong call by turning down big contracts. It’s not just Schroder, even Victor Oladipo made that mistake. He declined a 4-year, $112 million extension, and things didn’t go well for him after that.

It is what everyone thinks of when they've declined such offers. Maybe that there's already something that's offered to him from the other teams and it's only a matter of time that we'll see it. We just hope the best for his career because he's a likeable player but to know that he wants to get out of the Lakers might frustrate a lot of Lakers fan from that point. A lot of players have made the wrong call by turning down big contracts. It’s not just Schroder, even Victor Oladipo made that mistake. Dang, those were the biggest mistakes that they've done for their lives. But that's their evaluation for themselves and think that they're worth more than the contract extension that's offered to them.

I see a lot of people complaining about players who didnt took the contracts extension or some pretty good offer in terms of money, and yes with the confirmation of that being a bad take we can blame them, but in the time they rejected it we dont know what they want for their carreers, and also we dont know how much they care about the money, a lot of them already have so much money and they only want to be in a contender team.

Right, Oladipo is the worst of them all, although Dennis Schrodergets more of the flack because he is with the Lakers and Lebron. And with Austin Reaves, he is healthy and still have a good potentially so I don't think that he will be the next in line so I think he will be fine. I reading about this NBA Draft, (I can't remember his name), and it looks like he doesn't want to play with the Jazz. It was said that he turn down a practice session with them and obviously, he don't want to play with them. But still Danny Ainge is savage and still pick up this kid.

LOL, Ace Bailey is so demanding. Is it true that he's asking for a mansion and two private cars from the Jazz?
He didn't even flew with his co-rookie to the Utah for the introduction that they need to go through as part of the process.
Was this even the guy that has faked his height?

I have the same feeling he'd likely going to follow that path. Specially that playoffs performance he had. It looks to me like he's not ready to be a superstar or even an allstar. He should stay in LA at least for another contract so he can enhance his skills and increase his value. Having LeBron and Luka on the same team is an individual advantage to whoever is around them, because there have been a lot of things to learn from these two. Schroder took it personal and so does Reaves now. Those trade rumors really hurt those players who's not in an elite caliber yet.

Statistically, he’s better than Schroder, and fans often see him as their third star. Fans wouldn’t think that way for no reason. I’m not even a Lakers fan, but I still think he’s better than Schroder, whether as a scorer or as a role player. But yeah, his image isn’t at a superstar level yet like others. What he needs to do is surpass his stats next season and prove he’s worth more than what they are offering. But if his stats decline, maybe we’ll see another Schroder.

It was reported that Raptors President Masai Ujiri was fired hours after the NBA Draft. https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/breaking-news/article/raptors-part-ways-with-team-president-masai-ujiri-a-day-after-2025-nba-draft-131702065.htmlThe man who brought a championship to the Toronto Raptors is leaving the franchise. The Raptors and team president Masai Ujiri are parting ways, the team confirmed Friday.
The move comes at an unusual time. Ujiri just took part in the 2025 NBA Draft with the Raptors, and was entering the final year of his contract. Ujiri could have hypothetically finished out his contract with the team and left in the offseason. It's unclear why both sides felt it was necessary to move on at this time. Very brutal, but this is the world they live in. Just imagine that you take part of the draft and not knowing that the owner already had his plans in mind that after the draft you will be fired. But I guess he is man enough to accept it and maybe another team will pick him up with his experience as he is the one who brought the Raptors 1st championship in 2019.

That’s business you know... we never really know what’s going on behind the scenes and honestly, it doesn’t matter much at this point. As fans, all we really care about is seeing our team play well. Since the Raptors already won a championship, and I’m sure the goal is to get back to the finals. But it’s been a few years now, and IIRC they haven’t even made it past the second round since then. Maybe it’s long overdue ,we just haven’t been paying close attention.

How time flies isn't it, but it was 6 years ago that the Raptors won their only championship ring with Kahwi Leonard and obviously Masai Ujiri was a big part of it. Nevertheless, as what we have seen in every sports, even the highest position can be fired by the owner themselves. And maybe Masai didn't see it coming, but he should know that this is the business that they are in and everyone is not safe. And you are right, we only remember the winnings as a fan. But after that if the jobs is not accomplished in the following season, then someone's head is going to roll and unfortunately, it was their team President.

Maria did really took the spotlight but there's also the other one, Chloe Kitts, the gf of Collin Murray-Boyles the ninth pick of Raptors.
Just saw that.. the video’s definitely gone viral, and yeah, that lady in the red dress was looking fine. Raptors are red too, so nice choice of outfit, I guess as it matched the color of the team. But let’s end that here. We don’t want this thread turning into a discussion about NBA players’ girlfriends. I guess that Collin shows that he'd be picked by the Raptors and he told her girlfriend about that. And to match the night with the color of the team, she wore a red dress and she was stunning and got the attention of the boys who's not only watching the draft but also who's with the nba draftee. That’s business you know... we never really know what’s going on behind the scenes and honestly, it doesn’t matter much at this point. As fans, all we really care about is seeing our team play well. Maybe it’s long overdue ,we just haven’t been paying close attention. I agree, everything is all about money and business there. And I can still remember that time when Kawhi is with the Raptors and helped them get the title. Until now, they don't have any remarkable line up as per their roster anymore.

In fact, Reaves is now hoping that he will perform even better next season and be offered a more profitable new contract next offseason. But it can never be ruled out that the performance could get worse, and an injury could happen. In such a case, a huge contract would only be a dream.

And it good though, I mean if you don't get out they you don't know how much you are worth? If it turns out that he is wrong, then at least he try. So no regrets whatsoever, and there are no what if. Dennis is still playing though, beat the US with Reaves in the Fiba and so it's not that bad if we look at his career when he decline the offer of the Lakers years ago.

Austin Reeves declining a 4 year $90,000,000 contract extension pretty much ends his days in Los Angeles. I think they’re going to have to trade him so they don’t risk losing him for nothing. That gives the Lakers some interesting roster possibilities. We’ll have to wait a few months to see just what they can do with this.
Maybe he feels he deserves more, and honestly, I think so too. He’s a solid role player and averaged 20.2 points last season. It’s not just the points, his rebounds and assists also went up this year. Even though Reaves says he wants to stay and play his whole career in L.A., at the end of the day, business is business. If I were in his position, I’d probably do the same. Secure the bigger bag while you can, because it's the same for any team, business is business. Well, he still have a year on his contract as a Laker then he will have a Player Option on his final year. There's a risk with this move by him TBH. What if he plays worse than last season? That means he will be forced to accept that Player Option on his final year. On the flip side, if he plays way better then he will decline and seek for a better offer for him. This year will be the deciding factor for him. Either he will stay as a Laker to end his contract, or other team will offer him a better contract. He's on his prime years already at 27 and his 20.2 PPG average last season is a good 2nd option on offense as well. I just wish that he will play better next season. I'm thinking that this will be another "Dennis Schroder" situation, but it's good that I looked at his contract and he still has 2 years. What do you think about Cooper Flagg being drafted by the Dallas Mavericks? Would this be a big boost to the team, will they be back in the playoffs again, or even become a championship team? If you look at it, it's only Luka who left; next season they will have a healthy Davis, Irving, and the rookie Cooper Flagg.
It will be a boost for the team. Flagg is not the best scorer on this year's draft class, but he's not one of the worst either. At the same time, he's also good at defense as well. He's a perfect 3-and-D type of player that every team wants. While this will be a boost for the team, I don't think that they can stand against the likes of the Thunder, or even the Rockets now that they have Durant. It's too early to predict though since we haven't seen him playing, but as a rookie, let's just lower our expectations to him.

I don't see any update yet towards possible trade or teams that are willing to sign Reaves, but let the latest updates about this since its interesting to see if Reaves would also perform the same as what he did in Lakers. For sure that this is huge loss for Lakers since Reaves could step up especially if Bron or either Luka would struggle.

It’s time for Reaves to be tested, let’s see if he can still put up great numbers with another team. As for Schroder, he’s already proven himself. He’s played for several teams and was always heavily used. Back in his prime with the Atlanta Hawks, you could really see his scoring ability and how solid he was as a point guard. But with Reaves, I’m still not fully convinced. We’ve only seen him shine with the Lakers. For me, the jury’s still out on how good he really is.

There’s a lot of team that has good SG which means he will share a lot of ball time to old players just to shine on this new team which is very crucial. A consecutive bad game will ruined his career so I agree that he is taking a lot of risk on other team than Lakers that gives him a priority on ball time. He is good regular season but flop on playoffs.

LOL, Ace Bailey is so demanding. Is it true that he's asking for a mansion and two private cars from the Jazz?
He didn't even flew with his co-rookie to the Utah for the introduction that they need to go through as part of the process.
Was this even the guy that has faked his height?
Mansion? Cars? I haven’t seen this, maybe you’re just seeing it on social media. I’ve been noticing a lot of fake news lately, especially about trades. Could you share a link where you saw this? The Jazz have insisted there’s no issue and that Bailey will be in Utah when the summer league training camp begins. It seems the drama started when Bailey didn’t make the trip to Utah after being drafted, while his fellow first-round pick, Clayton Jr., did. But if there’s smoke, there’s fire, maybe there really was an issue before they reached an agreement. If that’s the case, dude’s already acting like a diva even though he hasn’t proven anything yet.

Plus of all of this you have to be very cautious about this statement, most of them only receive mansions where they live but they dont receive the property itself for them, i mean is more like a rent mansion and not one for them actually. And all of this things are deducted from the actual contract in someways.

Nah, he really didn't want Utah to pick him, and he even rejected their work out offer too, he knew he would be to picked anyway, he is the number 5 draft pick, so even if Utah didn't, someone else would, he wanted to go to Nets, or Wizards, and not to Utah. And in the end, Utah still did drafted him, even though he made it clear that he didn't want to be there. So in the end, we should remember that while teams do have the advantage and could draft whoever they want, if they do, then they are facing the issues of player not wanting to be there, and it's up to the team to convince the player to come play. Sure the player can't just get to another team, but they can decline to play, and not take the money and just sit out and wait. He is young enough, he will force them to traded him if he wants to, or ask them for stupid stuff like this.
