So I have several sets of Titan Batch 2 cubes I got in june 2015, and they were brand new sealed in the box. 13 cubes have failed in different ways. Ive owned a few computer repairs shops over 20 years , so I have a ton of experience with thermal issues. So far I have 2 cubes with burned PCI-E connectors that I was able to restore and one cube that has 2 dies that read .8v (idle) that I tried the fix KNCminer kept saying would work, and that was to remove the single screw nearest the exhaust and remove the standoff too, and put a screw through a nut that is underneath the cube. The goal was to tighten the pressure on the heatsink. I had 8 cubes that had this issue and it did not work. All it did was start to bend the board in the middle.
Ive applied my own fix after listening to KNCminer for over 45 days, and MY fix worked on the first cube I tried. So KNCminer now claim my warranty is void and refuse to help me. I will eventually repair all of these, and then file my class action suit to the tune of $70,000. Guys if you own ANY kncminer product, the deadline to file a lawsuit for the FULL amount YOU paginid for them is August 20th 2015. I will be emailing everyone on this thread and letting them know. Im also optimizing my website for many keywords for google so others can see who KNCminer really are. My website bitcoinlasvegas.net is very high ranking on google as I get about 5000 visitors a week. Im already on page one for the search term "Kncminer Batch 2" , so Ill be posting most of the horror stories there.

Awesome! What was the fix? I'd like to give it a shot!
Yes, please share your fix, I'm running a right bodge of a machine with 6 cubes (was a compromise to get my RMA handled quickly)
6 completely dead dies that never work, and 4 that sometimes decide to work if underclocked and overvolted.
Yea....I assume the dead dies are 1 to a cube and/or you could not get an RMA from KNC for such? (or other reasons) wish you luck not brave enough
to muck with cubes at this point
I would love to waste a cube to try this but again 2 dead dies and 1 cube set down not so much
As to the sharing of a FIX shooting off tangent here a bit ...the stuff below has come up this summer and seems to have been helpful and worked out
small issues that they may be..but anyway in case it helps someone (note the fans the fans I use because in a basement house has no a/c have been great)
One a side note for those who may want to try some stuff on their Titans I did set one cube back from 325 adv setting to 312.5 setting due to HEAT issues summer here
and the new found STABILITY of such THE DANG UNITS STILL managed to GO BACK to the (I swear on the dime) my previous and now current stable status before the downsize of that
other cube (not one of the dead dies ones) to 312.5......so still getting 650.1mh out of the two titan(s) even after setting on adv settings the 1 cube
2 dies from 325 setting to 300mh ...go figure???
So some of this tweaking due to the heat on the dies (again summer) can help quite a bit for stability and
you may not lose much if anything in mh it seems
WHAT KIND OF WITCHERY IS THIS!!!
I assume from the previous posts it has to do with the maxed out VRM's people are talking about and heat etc...it was a heat issue on that one
cube I set 2 dies back to 300mh setting ..1 die is undervolted and doing 300mh the other die i set back to 300mh is the standard stock voltage
anyway my results.
did so because summer here and heat and the cube was running 10c more then my other highest cubes in the vrm temp on adv page and getting all whobbly
on hash rate in highs and lows don't ya know
that little tweak and 10c in heat disappeared from both die settings on that 1 cube ...so ...go figure ...assuming knc's adv page is telling me the straight poop
anyway just for those who may want to try this same trick due to heat issues in that it is summer in USA etc may be worth a shot
so yeah .....if it has not bricked yet...I am reluctant to try anything with these units ..my last issue a couple months ago with the Titan was only other issue was
a NO CONNECTION error on the 2 cube unit i have (the LCD said in bold letters) (6 cubes on 1 controller with 1200 corsairs and 2 cubes ..the ones with 1 bad die each on the other controller the 2 cube controller still has room for the LCD) tried everything and I did a NEW complete SD img of the 2.0 firmware on a Sandisk 8gb class 10 SD card and bingo that was the problem so the SD card was corrupt I guess....also due to heat I guess (units in basement ..with fans basement temp goes at highest to 88F mostly sits at 78F to 80F room temp)
the cubes are mostly 50c or lower mostly the 1 cube goes to 55c at 88F in basement ...on such days
I suspect more problems as my units age (orig batch nov 2013) but so far so good even with the heat (basement no a/c big ass exhaust fans)
my setup below
http://lostgonzo.imgur.com/anyway off on a tangent but stuff for those who may have the same issues as myself with summer heat etc and above and want/need to tweak or need to move some air due to summer
anyway good to see some talk of improving the firmware on here and other stuff ...every little bit helps now that knc has abandoned us completely it seems since feb 2015
on firmware it seems ...
anyway so it goes
I will continue to experiment w/ die drop handling. I read another way that may be more effecient. I will update if thats possible.
What I've noticed with a couple of my temperamental dies, is that it will spit out errors about invalid nonce, then it will give a message saying the die was successfully configured and it will go back to work as normal.
So that appears to be cycling an individual die, if you want me to grab the exact messages to track down where in the code it's doing it let me know and i'll grab a screenshot next time I see it.
I've seen this this summer....it was absent this winter on my 2 cube unit (with 1 dead die in each)
so I assume this is heat related? Anyway I had this issue on my KNC Jupiter back in the day and KNC said for that unit it was a heat related
re-do for the most part..anyway with knc forums down some of that info was lost but what I was told on this kinda thing on the KNC Jupiter units
I suspect we will see more of this kinda thing as the equip ages....remember knc orig said they would only give a 3 month warranty on Titans
I guess we are beginning to see why
