Perhaps KnCminer noted it was seeing such a large fraction of miner buys with money that was transferred from bitpay after a transfer from MtGox that as long as MtGox is showing frozen US BTC, KnCminer won't sell more upgrade boards or miners.

It's Bitpay's responsbility to deal with any BTC -> fiat conversations and I suspect they have a handle on it since they move BTC -> fiat every day for thousands of merchants.. I wouldn't be too surprised if Bitpay has a working relationship with Mt. Gox of some sort but regardless it's still Bitpay's issue, they have a contract with their merchants which gives the merchants the service they require and Bitpay handles the backend work..

Yes, but.  If US MtGox users can't transfer btc from MtGox to Bitpay, and someone has said that Bitpay is owned by the owners of KnC tho I have no personal knowledge of that, then if KnCminer were to offer products right now, and if KnCMiner knew via Bitpay that US miner buyers can't access their MtGox btc, and just because I can't doesn't mean others can't either but on another thread someone said nobody in the US is getting anything out of MtGox, btc or dollars, and not to have a run-on sentence but, then KnC would only be selling to those with hard cash or btc outside of MtGox.  Is that last a big deal or not?

One solution might be for KnC to poll pre-existing customers to find if the MtGox problem would prevent a purchase.  However, if the MtGox problem with the US is the FINCen $10k limit on transfers (if by US citizens no matter if the transfer is effected completely outside the US, e.g. MtGox->Bitpay->KnCminer, then ANY Neptune purchase would have been out-of-bounds if done with a single transfer by a US citizen as even at the sub-$10k price, the cost with shipping would have been >$10k.

Thread derailment in 3....2....1

What does this have to do with KNC?

Best practice is you don't pay anyone from anything but your own controlled wallet.

Not Gox
Not Coinbase.

If KnC isn't posting new upgrade modules because essentially knowing MtGox won't allow pre-existing Saturn and Mercury customers to access their btc sitting on MtGox then no it is not a derailment.  I think I'll go with a single digit here.

Why?  Are you supposing that KnC doesn't know what percentage of their customers have paid for miners or upgrade modules from MtGox accounts and of those customers which are US citizens?  Being in the industry they would recognize if there's a problem that had been created by their US customers paying for Neptunes with a single, greater than $10k value payment.

That's exactly what I'm proposing.  Why do you assume that KnC has any idea which and what possible bitcoin addresses belong to Mt.Gox?  Further, why would they care which, or how many of their previous customers used Mt. Gox?  They've had no problem selling out their hardware without giving any care or concern as to where their customers store their coins, I don't see them changing.

As far as KnC is concerned:  they bill you, you send coins, they confirm your order.  If they bill you and you do not pay (because of Mt. Gox, or you're broke) they don't care.  They sell that place to someone else.

i want to make some knc miners stickers
can anyone post here the big logo of knc minerS??? Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Huh what?

Sounds like US $&btc held at MtGox isn't making it out, e.g. can't be transferred.  I tried to make a 1.5btc transfer MtGox to Coinbase and it's a no go.
I am experiencing this as of right now, what can be done with such transaction? As I got transaction hash, but its been almost an hour and nothing yet.

Where may MTGox Bitcoins be sent?

To your wallet??

What is this your first day in Bitcoin world?

MtGox is not a wallet.

What is this candid camera/punk'd ?

You own KNC hardware and you don't know how to move Bitcoins around?

let's start you at the basics:

Seriously Soy, you don't get this?  Never, NEVER make a Bitcoin purchase from a source you don't directly control such as Exchanges like MtGox.  That's day one NOOB stuff!

Coinbase is a bit different since you can place coins in your own personal online wallet that they host.  But even with Coinbase, don't make purchases from your Trading account without putting the funds into your own wallet.

I can't fathom why anyone would think KNC gives a damn about where the bitcoin or fiat is coming from, so long as they get it.

I will bet you all the coins you have stored anywhere but a wallet that KNC does not know, does not care and that this has nothing to do with why they haven't released upgrade modules.

Like elasticband said, are we now getting this nuts that we are coming up with this tinfoil hat crap?

Forget mining, I think I'll set up a tinfoil hat shop that only accepts Bitcoin, I'd make a killing off some of the people on this forum, some of the theories are crazy, and I don't just mean in this thread!!

Anyone keeping an eye on competitors threads? Though it is quiet on the Knc front, I'm glad that I'm not a Hashfast or Cointerra customer!

Here's a less crazy theory..

Knc will give us updates and maybe upgrade boards once competitors do begin shipping, and by competitors I mean the above, not Antminers, though I do appreciate the latter is contributing to difficulty increasing.

Why would they hold off for those outfits specifically?  HF is shipping, ngzhang claims 5.1PH of Avalon gen2 chips have shipped and they're increasing production.  Bitmain (even though you're discounting them) have shipped a tonne of hardware.  Bitfury and his re-sellers are still shipping in-hand product.  Bitmine has their first lot in and are moving into production.  This concept that KnC is sitting here waiting for Cointerra, BlackArrow (lol), and/or AMT (lol) to ship before offering upgrades is a bit ridiculous.

Here's a theory:  KnC has their own mine.  They cannot control what other manufacturers are shipping and are at their mercy regardless.  What they can control is their own product.  By not adding module or Jupiter (or whatever) sales, they are stemming the tides to protect their own interests.  Perhaps they're trying to recover their own ROI (BTC -> BTC) before undercutting themselves by selling more KnC gear to consumers.

Great service! Big respect for knC, despite the naysayers, they are doing what they set out do to.

Quote
We will ship no devices in December 2013, January 2014 or  February 2014. Meaning that once we have taken the difficulty up at the end of November we will not release any more hashing power for 3 months.

Their competitors are other 28nm producers and none have produced or added to the network really, although cointerra are away to start shipping it still has not effected the network and may not in a big way when delivered.

Quote
We would like to state that If any of our competitors continues to add large amounts of hashing power to the network during December, January or February. We will continue to release our devices as competitively priced as we can to protect our customers share of the network.

If the upgrade boards are $1000 a piece that is pretty much 1bitcoin for 140GH(OC 160-170) possibly next week, that's a competitive deal if you ask me.

+1 and it's not a theory.. you all can verify by going to https://www.kncminer.com/pages/faq

"Why are you selling the Miners and don’t mine yourself (will you use the miners for mining yourself)? ?
We are mining ourselves, but we believe in the bitcoin project and a diversified market is the best for all parties. We will continue to mine but we do not believe in a monopoly of miners. We will not mine with more than 5% of the hash rate we sell, and we will never mine with customer hardware."

Their "ROI" was already taken care of. They've been operating in the black since batch 2 most likely.
