As I asked others before you. what would be major adoption to you?
This is a 345 million account company. if every account held 100 usd in btc it is 34.50 billion in btc. current btc cap is 240 billion
You're talking about a company dude. A corporate company. BTC has nothing to do with companies. Well, apart from the fact that everybody wants big chunks of it. Major adoption would be having a class in nursery school, educating the little ones on what money should be like: free. BTC stands for monetary freedom. We both know this ain't going to happen - any time soon anyway. Until it is confirmed that every paypal purchase of the so called BTC, is backed by real ones that you can transfer around and pay for things, all this is nothing but misleading. As I already mentioned: Nothing much will happen to BTC imo, whereas paypal's revenue might go off the roof.
"PP lying about real buying of bitcoins and thereforee it won't contribute to the mass adoption" is pure FUD, started by the same nocoiners and shorters who got caught with pants down. Practically 100% of them are on my ignore list from before, when I noticed they are conspiracy theorists or just bitter FUDsters. I wonder what was the point of ignoring them when the rest are quoting them and even meriting their nonsense posts. Anyway, this conspiracry type of people of course will suspect PP to play tricks and not buy real bitcoins. Only hardcore flatearther can figure a way for such a large company to try something that even most ponzis can't do. What about bitcoin exchanges? They are also companies. How are people going to buy bitcoins without any of those: banks, credit cards, exchanges. Localbitcoins? But they use PP as well . All these are just nesessary means for the mass adoption. So next time try something better - like "bitcoin is overbought" or my favourite "the halving was priced in". Take your pick, I don't care. I don't care if you buy bitcoin on paypal and let it fester there-go ahead, make my day. I would be buying the real thing in the meantime. BTW, show me a proof that they will hold "real" bitcoin. So far what I have seen is a reference to their "liquidity" provider (not sure what it even mean)-Paxos. I would call such "bitcoin" (in paypal bitcoin wallet) "bitcoin twice removed" as to indicate it's relationship to the real one. It very well may be that it would increase exchange velocity, maybe even price (although I doubt about the latter). It seems that you look at bitcoin as means to get more $$ or euros. Correct? If so, paypal bitcoin is just for you. For myself, I don't care, have enough $$ already.

As an 'aside' to keep things into perspective....the following date of the FIRST WO post here 4/16/2013 'exactly' 3 days after I found out about Bitcoin and I happened to join this forum www.bitcointalk.org on 4/13/2013 myself...$67.43...did not, myself, 'get' or 'mine' a BTC till 10/18/2013 and 'sometime' that day, I looked, and it was an 'even' $150 a BTC and 'thought' I'd missed the boat from my www.bitcointalk.org start date above! Again....wow...I shoulda sold the house/car/frigging everything and the cat...back then for BTC! Hopefully more of the same in the next 7 years! As of the price of BTC...wow...below: Lest we forget! Brad

El duderino asked for a hat with the Dicaprio meme image on it which I made: avatar-sized but shortly afterward, bitebits suggested an even cooler version for His Dudeness: White Russian added (facial tone was altered to match the hand as well) avatar-sized A melding of the memes. I hope the universe can handle it; I would hate for it to explode before Bitcoin moons. Yeah... Craeful man!

In both cases they'll learn about BTC

.... it's like someone should invent a censorship-resistant currency so we don't have to use fucktard services like PayPal! ... oh the irony when PP starts confiscating ppBTC shittokens from polically-incorrect account holders who think they have bitcoin *sigh* Don't use PayPal. Hate them. Boycott them. Whatever. You can use Bitcoin and have nothing to do with them. But to expect them to be anything other than what they are is foolish. Trusted third parties are security holes etc. I personally barely use PayPal. I have an account because of eBay. But if you think we live in a world where they are just going to blow away like a dry leaf because they see that Bitcoin is the future of peer to peer finance... well I have a bridge to sell you. And like it or not Bitcoin does not scale on the base layer and stay a distributed consensus. So if you want to see trustless scaling then maybe you should start working on lnd. And if you don't like lnd then maybe invent another trustless layer 2. Grumping about PatPal is not adding anything. And until there is something better for the masses to use they will use what is available. I work with some very smart people in the arcane rarified circles of IT I inhabit. Most of them would not see why you would just not use Venmo. Why are you going to run some server on a Raspberry Pi and be your own node so you can make trustlss payments to ... well to who? To Bitfinex? This stuff has a long way to go to mature to the point that it has a raindrops chance in hell of beating PayPal. And believe it or not what we are seeing is a stone on that pathway. Shun it all you want, but it is actually taking you where you want to go.

Shun it all you want, but it is actually taking you where you want to go. Well lets see what their options were: -actively fight BTC, lobby governments against it, run ads attacking BTC as terrorist money -creating their own, or push Facebook/gov shitcoin -actively support shitcoin (like BSv lol) to purposely split/damage "cryptocurrency" environment -ignore it (as all other companies do) -integrate paper BTC into their platform -tell everyone just to use bitcoin and close their company am i missing any? Honestly I expected them to stay silent, and was pleasantly surprised to see them endorse BTC by integrating paper/derivative form. What's next Visa start pushing BTC (even paper)

sooner or later some payment settlement company would of done it. so it was palpal this time. ive heard the horror stories. but personally ive had zero problems with paypal in like a decade with them. hate me if you want but ill buy some paper corn from paypal. just like i did from robinhood. small amounts of course but gotta try it. realistically though, how would you have preferred this to go down. as you pointed out, corn doesnt scale. layer two is still a mess. and clearinghouses seem the natural answer. a trustless clearinghouse, if such a thing can exist.
