Just got a block...

Is it just me or have we been getting a proportionately larger percentage of p2pool orphaned but valid bitcoind blocks the last few months.  We used to only get them once in awhile, but it seems to me that out of every 4 or so blocks now, one tends to be p2pool orphaned but valid.

And nobody's node is reporting the latest block.  Windpath's node, which is usually on top of it is not showing 348298.  OgNasty's NastyPoP stats don't show it... Those crazy orphan kids trying to hide! Tongue

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

Really? I only recall two or so recently that were orphaned. Maybe it's because the block finding time is longer, maybe it's just luck. But I am glad that p2pool people have configured their units to submit stale shares.

Keep finding blocks!

Sorry for the delay, still have to add stale share blocks manually, busy day Wink

Stale shares have found at least 4 blocks in the last 3 months, a significant increase, unfortunately not documented.

Next week I will add tracking for stales shares the solved a block so we can see going forward....

Well, 95% of stale p2pool blocks are not stale network blocks - so that's a big percent Smiley
i.e. since there's on average 20 share-chain changes per 1 network block-change

I wonder if my arriving at a casino in the southwest has anything to do with it :-) Meantime looks like luck is back to normal in p2pool land.

Overall THs down, blocks coming in.

May be cognitive dissonance, but damn if it isn't happening quite often.

I believe it's cognitive distortion.... Wink

P2pool luck is on a par with kano's pool atm, which is where most of my hash is - very impressed with kano's pool & his regular updates & payments Wink. I only point a few S3's at p2pool now, and as long as p2pool hash rate stays below 2PH I'll keep them here, but will pull them if hash rate goes too high.

P2pool must be the only pool that performs worse the more hash power it has - a pretty unenviable position to be in for a pool  Cheesy

Oh for those of us who stay, we are very happy as our payout goes up. Yaay and all that.

But of course that's an illusion. Luck is luck. :-)

Indeed, I've had good payouts from my few S3's on p2pool lately - & with most of my hash being at Kano's pool I seem to have the best of both worlds  Grin

I love the energy efficiency comparison he does between manual mining and hardware... Donut powered mining! Grin

I'd like to see us around 4PH/s, 1% of network... Keep variance tolerable.
