Makes one wonder how many people will stick with P2Pool until the next block is found.  alot of has power has left.  Other pool stats do not look near as bad as p2pool  Any change there is a rogue machine sending bad work or something else to prevent blocks being found.  I am to new to know enough to figure this out.

But I do think there is more then just bad luck.

Any one want to join the conversation.

It's luck & variance. Difficulty has gone up also. It happens. Other pools have gone without blocks for longer periods. Patience grasshopper........ Wink

While there have certainly been documented cases of malicious users and block withholding attacks on other pools, p2pool is primarily comprised of home miners.  It doesn't make any sense for parties to attack the pool because the net effect on the hashing power of the entire network would be minimal at best.  As has been pointed out, p2pool is currently a total of about 0.33% of the network.  Definitely not a target of opportunity Smiley

The difference you're seeing is the effect of exceptionally bad luck for 2 blocks.  When you break it down and evaluate other pools you'll see that while rare, greater than 500% blocks do happen everywhere.  Unfortunately for p2pool, when it happens here the effect is more profound because time to block is already high due to the low total hash rate.  For example, at 50PH/s, you'd expect to find a block every hour or so.  It's far easier to overlook a block that took 2, 3 or even 8 hours.  Compare that to p2pool, where finding a block takes a day.  Go 8 days without finding a block and it's extremely apparent.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

This is getting very rough indeed.  Cry

Having the hash rate at 1/2 of what it was not that long ago doesn't help.

M

For sure. Guess the thread title needs to be edited to reflect that.

I had the RC running on my VPS for a while and have 0.10 running locally on my MBP.  Everything seems in order...

+1

Just need delay the start of P2Pool and miner because of the antispam feature on the RPC ...
v0.10.0 can CRASH (at the start only) after 3 seconds if P2Pool/BFGMiner ask too many on the HOST.

BFGMiner......that's the problem....... Cheesy

I'll wait for the ppa update before updating my rig I think, just in case any bugs become apparent, but I'm running 10 on my PC without issues so far.
