Every investment involves certain amount of risk, don't invest what you are not prepared to loose. Fortunately for you, bitcoin is one of the most profitable investment today, If we look on its history, I can definitely say that it is less risky to invest in for the long term rather than short term investment.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

I just wanted to know that, what amount of risk is there in investing in bitcoins.
Right now i am planning to buy btc approx 3-4 btc and just hold them as i guess the price of bitcoin will increase in future and i will get some good profit. But i want to know what is the risk involved. Can bitcoin price decrease and is this right time to buy the bitcoin.
It's all speculation. In my opinion there would ups and down in short term but for long term bitcoin will be a clever investment and not only bitcoin even investing in altcoin would result in fruitfull investment. But keep your private keys safe because there are many people in the market who will make you loose your money by getting your private key.

everything has its risk, but for me base on bitcoins current trend in the market, their are only one way for bitcoin which is to go up! with that I think investing in bitcoin today has only small risk that it might fail.

if OP follow his/her heart and bought 3 to 4 BTC last April of this year, he/she earn 873% profit.

I am hoping he/she didn't stop him/herself from buying BTC that time.

It was the truth, BTC was highly volatile. However, Bitcoin was very unique, it may fall in a days or week with minimal value percent dropped, and suddenly gain three or more folds continuously.

If you would have asked me 2 years ago, I'd have said "extremely risky". . . Now? It doesn't appear as risky to me anymore.

It's about how much risk you can take. If you can tolerate lots of risks, it might be your thing. If you prefer the traditional investment with low ROI, maybe put the asset in a bank will be safer. It's more of diversifying your wealth to be allocated to different investment channel to be able to balance out.

Basically we don't know the risk in every site if you invest money in a site first is you don't know if the site was trusted there are site that can give you small profit but many site are just scamming people who invested.

You should be aware where you invested because bitcoin has a huge involvement to money and hackers as well , so you didnt know who is good who is bad.

you can look at the market right now and keep track of all the latest message from the development team.
Investors are worried about what will happen in the next month, but I do know one thing BTC will not collapse completely, just a short-term correction only Cool

OP he asked back in April, but for newcomers now.
buying bitcoin at 10 000$ is high risk,  I would say it's so late for newcomers, people who bought at 300$ was so lucky, but still there are a lot of opportunities with others coins like dash, ether etc ...

Trending for the bitcoin is tremendously going up. as to its volatility it can go up and drop very sudden. Bitcoin is full of speculations if you are not into trading thus it gives excitement to its stakeholders. There is always risk involved in every investment. The higher the risk the higher the return or the loss or learning you can get.

Since bitcoin is volatile, we can't really know what might happened on the following years if you gonna buy and just hold your bitcoin. To invest is to take a risk and the amount of risk depends upon yourself on how you handled it.Risk are everywhere even on the wallet you're using therefore in every step you do, it should always accompanied with extra care.Bitcoin continues to grow as well as its demand,so for me it's worth holding and  investing.

In every aspect we should always consider risk, but in the company and management of bitcoin they provide you a full time or all day security;
which they can assure you that your money is in low risk. With this they can guaranteed you that your money is in the good hands.

No risk bitcoin is safer than before so investment is good .

most of risk came from price (back to 1,000$) so many only say bitcoin risky because price will back to  zero

I suggest you don't hold/collect bitcoin because in bitcoin you have to give priority to profit and also security. Sell it when you you earn profit. Each type of investment has its own risk and includes bitcoin, where bitcoin risks are unstable price and there are some countries whose governments do not support bitcoin so the risk is even greater. And there is always the possibility of bitcoin prices to come down depending on the growing issues that have a negative impact

If you want to gain your earnings there would always a risk.  The higher the risk the greater amount you could earn.  There are risk in investing, be careful on what or whom you will invest in.  I remember losing a good amount of bitcoin to an investment site then it turns out to be non paying.

To be honest no one can say what amount of risk it is....... as we see the prices are rising so heavily....and i dont see prices falling down so according to me the risk is low in btc investment.
