any idea how screwed I am with 128 chips? Looking at mining calculators looks like I'll only make $700 in a year, am I way off or is the calculator flawed? http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/e41625025cI doubt the percentage will remain 100%+ per month, but im new to this, any updated predictions guys? It won't make you a single dollar. The miners makes bitcoins! Its an important difference.. that some people seems to neglect. If you believe the coins will go up, invest in coins. If you belive you can buy mining hardware for less than cost of coins, buy mining hardware. It seems according you your calculation, if you remove extra fees and the 2% silly mining pool fee, will make a total of 7.44 btc, not including power costs. The value of those coins, are worth as much as they are worth when you sell them and only then. From the looks of the calculation, your last month of mining will be in the month of January, if difficulty by then hits 1361MM you will only make 0.5BTC, which should be similiar to your electricity cost pending on the value btc/usd at that time. Then again, if the difficulty increase slows off which some people dont think it will, you might make more, maybe 10BTC until then or that it happends later that hardware becomes obsolete. Or , that you are able to sell it on ebay for a lot more than buyers are willing to pay for it here while you have already mined with it for a while. On ebay, dont show TGB link, only show this link http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/, which does not calculate difficulty updates.. Well said. Mining equip I buy is in BTC and my ROI calculations are in BTC. If I'm not getting a return in BTC then I'm buying coins instead. The calc here is much better http://btcinvest.net/en/bitcoin-mining-profit-calculator.phpWhatever monetary denomination people do their calculation in is irrelevant, if the miners aren't hashing away.

The link calculates oddly to me, perhaps I'm missing something. It assumes you will solve a block? ( which in therory is possible along with being hit by lighting and wining the lottery in the same minute) and oddly works backwards to calculate profit? In any case I have found these calculators to be unreliable because they have a hard time taking into account variable 2 week difficulty jumps. For best results calculate a daily/24hr BTC return for a difficulty, then multiply it out based on your own predictions. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ah7ZJVoobFY7dDRGQk1kdmJmaUJwZENKZUdNejJlWEE&usp=sharing#gid=0in green shows a BTC SUM earned based off a 25mill delta adding 5mill to the delta every 'round' (~2 weeks). It was started mid September and at the time everyone thought I was over estimating how bad it would be. The red(ish) section shows what has occurred, and I will update again shortly. Since the original green post, the difficulty delta as been nearly spot on (over estimated by less than 1mill last round), but this round I was way off! Instead of 45mill jump we are getting over 60mill and we still have ~1.5 days left in this round. I believe this jump is mostly due to KNC, others still to come. I expect the next round delta to be 60mill + 5mill and this linear first derivative should hold as a base line 'lower limit' through March ish of next year.

Steamboat, you offered to refund 100% of freight costs and a portion of the K16 cost.
It's been some weeks, when do you plan to honor this pledge?

I'm beginning to think that this is the time to get back in, buy unprofitable miners on the cheap and then either run at a slight loss or just wait for a BTC price spike and turn on then.
I think you are on the money. There might be a lag between BTC demand and miner readyness/availability so hopefully we can ride that wave. If anyone is interested in selling their K16 (in a few months) or other obsolete mining hardware then PM me. I'm building a museum.

Brutal difficulty increases. If we were to get our miners in the next few days we will be lucky to mine back .5 BTC.

I filled out that refund request on Sept 11 on batch 5 and still to have yet receive any notice. Lack of receipt or verification on where I stood has been frustrating. I waited because everyone on the forum posted it was taking 2 weeks or more. Then that E-mail was sent out about the refunds on Oct 2. I sent out an e-mail a few a days after that email to get some info about my refund and here I am almost over 1 month over since I sent that request and two weeks since I emailed on update yet I still have no info. My brother who at the same time has received shipping from KNC. I would at least have expected some answers with all that Btc on the line. Receipts for purchasing was done in a day or two in yet no answer for emails about refunds two weeks and counting.

The silence is deafening.
There has been enough time for the first units to be assembled/shipped. Clearly there is a hangup.

The worst part for me is that the avalon miners on tradehill went for 2.21 btc a piece Today, for 60gh/s.
That and how there was a deadline to pay for assembly, which I wish I had not paid.
Pretty much a total loss, since I requested but never got a refund either for the chips, even though steamboat' email stated no deadline.

Could someone please post some contact info for Steamboat? I have no idea where his actual physical location is. Is it anywhere near the Florida address and phone number that the website is registered to?

Man I am a total chump for paying for assembly. Seems pretty obvious the software problems are holding things up.

Not so much when things are going pear shaped.
