I believe in the early early days they could go for a couple of days without finding a block...

I've been mining on slush for about 6 months now and I've seen 16 or 18 hours believe

Counting the record in hours is just plain wrong - CDF is much more correct measurement and this block is just 6.77, while i've seen on slush 9, which with the current difficulty and pool speed should be around 22-23h

EDIT: CDF is probably a bit wrong here, what i mean is the number of shares / diff

That is absolutely not true.

It is within the realm of possibility for Slush to go a week without finding a block.  Not very likely, but possible.  It is also possible for Slush to find a block within seconds.  Also not very likely, but it does happen from time to time.

The thread title can be adjusted, it's more in the 80000 GH/s region now 

Crazy, I started at slush this year end of March. He had around 4990 GH/s combined hashrate then...

It is within the realm of possibility for Slush to go a week without finding a block.  Not very likely, but possible.  It is also possible for Slush to find a block within seconds.  Also not very likely, but it does happen from time to time.

First off, this is the Slush we're talking about here. Nuff said. "realm of possibility" doesn't apply to Slush.

Other than that, I suspect high orphan rate to be the cause. Can anyone confirm recent orphan ratio?

Can we stick names to those addresses that are sucking all the coins up? I guess Bitcoin CZ is no longer a "big player", not with just a measley 80,000 gigahashes. Man, I gotta get a new hobby. And Stockpair is looking better and better every day.

Thank you, Graet... that is kind of fascinating... how come I am not using BTC Guild again? What would be the advantage, other than the fact they seem to be finding the majority of blocks...?

Im still getting the same rewards and same frequency of rewards using the same hash rate i was running 3 weeks ago even though ive seen the pool hash rate basicaly double !!!

I've been flip-flopping between EMC, BTCGuild, p2pool, and slush's.  My payouts have been basically the same across all the pools, though the speed of payments differs.  With a slow pool like p2pool, I was getting the same payout, but it may take a few days before the payments arrived.  BTCGuild, with it's fast blocks, means no waiting for payments.  EMC is fine, no problems with it to report.

I'm currently mining with Slush, out of loyalty - I started out mining there back at the start of the year with a lowly HD5870.  I was getting more BTC back then with that single 5870 than I am now with 2x ASICMiner Blades, 11 ASICMiner Erupters.  Of course it's an addiction, so I've two BitFury USBs on order, waiting on a Jalapeno since July, and am bidding on another Jalapeno April pre-order.  I know they won't make back their value now, but I'm stock piling BTC for when they shoot up to $275 again....
