In case some of the devs that help out aren't subscribed to the githib feed,
I released the new testing version yesterday.

1) The first thing that needs to be looked at is GetBlockTrust() in main. I "eyeballed" the changes but it needs to be thourougly debugged.

2) Someone with some extra resources needs to hash out a proper testnet that will make things like the above a bit more efficient Wink

3) Update the Novacoin MSVC solution for Yacoin.

I do have a compiled Windows version, but I don't want to release it generally unless you can help on the dev side.

P.S. Wink
Don't forget to back up your yacoin data folder before testing!

That is great job, Joe.
I don't have time to test it yet, but I will get to it asap. I did checked GetBlockTrust() and it doesn't look more harmful than current implementation Smiley
Anyway thumbs up ...

I was reminded of the above quote today. Do you think that Yacoin continues some of the original bitcoin ideals?

I was reminded of the above quote today. Do you think that Yacoin continues some of the original bitcoin ideals?

Think about all the other coins out there... they operate under the philosophy that early adopters will be rewarded immensely even though they don't really offer much more than what Bitcoin already provides. Bitcoin is the founder of blockchain technology, which is the real bread and butter.

YACoin's downfall was that it hurt early adopters who weren't mining. Moving forward, enough coins will be available to where the ones hoarding will be rewarded through PoS 'interest', while late comers are rewarded with mining profitabilty of energy efficient GPUs and CPUs.

I see YAC as being in a very different swim-lane than Bitcoin while the others coins are merely riding in the wake of Bitcoin. Marketing of YAC is a weak area, but I am optimistic about the future in the marketing realm as well.

Yes, it's quite eye watering how much my Yacoin investment has plummeted. I think though when it does go up it will shoot up very quickly. We will see some crazy 50-100x increase occur and it will happen very fast.

It's good to see that so many people are loyal to Yacoin and never give up on it. I will continue my slow accumulation and I hope others will do the same.

...
Reindex works fine in 0.4.5, and I am also going to include a bootstrap file which takes a few hours to import. As you mentioned, everyone will need to do this, or wait 3 days to sync from network peers Wink

Joe, how did you test reindex operation?
I've checked the code and there is no such flag nor function with similar name.

By misunderstanding what you meant.  The -reindex function from the last few versions of BTC is NOT available, though I am looking now to see if it can be brought over to YAC without too much problem.

Will Yacoin continue a conservative development path or could be see some radical new features in the future?

Plans for development are as conservative and/or radical as the changes that anyone feels free to submit Wink

The "1st draft" version that I released contains some significant changes, mostly from the latest versions of Novacoin and Bitcoin. There are still things that need to be done before moving to production though. That (a time frame) all depends on how many people are willing to help, with no expectation of any near term rewards.

https://github.com/senadj/scrypt-jane

I am yet learning git, so expect a lot of useless commits  Lips sealed
I also have a windows build but I do not know how to upload it yet.
A week or two and I will also have a OSX one too.

It looks like Bter YAC trading works agen. It was not new Mt Gox...

Also tested deposit YAC to Bter. Works but from pool to real credit in Bter account YAC balance some amount more slow than previously. (yesterday one test and 3.5hour but it is not suprise if thi nk what kind of hassle this all have been)

Also what is surprise Bter have returned (small amount) of BTC's. (under 10% at this first phase and it looks like they try return all....  if they really can recover and build all agen and even better than previously and peoples get (slowly) back loosed BTC's it is really nice and it also give really strong signal that Bter is not what ever bullshit exchange  )

BTC, BCH, BTG, UTC

BTER facts :
  • cold wallet was compromised
  • china based (remember china's attitude against crypto and even human rights?)
  • based on an address on the British Virgin Islands (shady again)
  • trades anything that gets to their hands (dead chains, risky experimental chains, whatever)

This is a recipe for disaster AGAIN.
TBH, I wouldn't keep anything of value there.

I think it might be good for testing as bitcoins can be quite expensive.
