This is all a painful exercise on futility.
I wonder why the European Union and many other nations didn't use a different number of decimal places than the US dollar? I wonder why they used the name "cent", just like the US dollar?
Oh yes, standardization is good.
Conversely, purposely confusing people is bad.
Here's a much simpler way of doing things which needs no explanation and leads to no confusion.
Just like Bitcoin there are 1,000,000 bits in one iXcoin.
Categorically, the sub-units of iX are bits.
Conclusion: iXbits.
There, now we can focus on something useful.

Like? Like where my iXcoin ended up lost in Peter's electrum wallet?
That's a personal issue which I'm sure needs clarification so nobody else loses half their coins. But I'm sure we can figure out other important things to discus. Like what new name would be best for iX? Without changing the sub units and decimal places so people will become confused and frustrated with our new name. Edit: I doubt anyone placed their ix in ixco.in. Unless that's where half of your coins went. lol

does anyone have a link to the electrum wallet's source code for IXC ill take a look. Also if it wasnt coded with any malware inside. then your coins are still there deadsea. it just means the transactions not been submitted to the network since ixco.in must have taken their electrum server's offline.
I can put one online if i can find the source code

Thanks Ahmed. I think their server are off, since they still appear in the blockchain. https://github.com/electrumaltI think we should consider any problem interesting single members as a community problem. Plus, I did't say I put there a half of my coins, but the total shown on electrum are a half of what I trasferred. And I discovered the problem only because today I wanted to transfer there a good part of my coins. So Ahmed, feel free to find the time another day. At this point I can wait for my coins. I was really upset since it seems there is no way to secure your coins 100%. How can cryptos be better than banks in this way? sweet ill get a server online as soon as my pool server comes online (which also means im going to throw up a pool where i can test merged mining on IXC testnet)

Maybe instead of renaming ixc we discover what ixc stands for.
A Google search of ixc returns:

If nobody placed coins there, it means the trading was fake. Ok, better discuss about the name.
I think iX as name will never be popular. It can be fine in stock market, investment plan, coloredcoin, etc, but not in daily life. "How would you like to pay? Bits or iXbits?" No, it's not ideal, perfect.
- I agree about the fake trading but I can't openly say anything about it. - I agree, iXbits doesn't quite roll off the tongue as well as bits. But this does: Xbits...Or this: iBits...And IXC is in a unique position to use either version. We just have to choose one.

I have asked numerous times but I have never gotten a straight answer for what IXC stands for or how they came up with the name/symbol. Just speculation/guesses from guys like Friction and others which never quite felt like the real deal.

It could be nice it would mean Instant eXchange Coin, but I don't see how it can become instantaneus if not using off-chain transactions controlled by a private society.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe I read a post by Satoshi which explained how Bitcoin could have instant transactions. There is no way Bitcoin can go mainstream without instant tx and off-chain transactions defeat the whole purpose of the Bitcoin protocol [plus the govt won't be able to track you, lol] so I know that's not the technique described by el Satoshi.

Instant on-chain transactions can and most likely do occur with Bitcoin for small purchases. If you're buying a low cost item (i.e., below $20) the vendor can consider the item paid for as soon as he sees the transaction in his wallet, before even one confirmation. If both wallets are fully synched this generally happens in seconds. The risk is very low that it will not confirm considering Bitcoin's high hash rate. In the very unlikely case that it doesn't confirm, the vendor isn't a out much money anyway. iXcoin can also have instant transactions since it has a huge hash rate as well.

iX coin 9.3 has been compiled by me from the source coded by Ahmed and Ground Rod for windows and released on Vlad's github repository. I tested it on windows 8 and 7 and it works great. I did not release ixcoind or ixcoin-cli since they are basically being phased out of bitcoin starting with 9.0 The Windows-Qt Wallet is here https://github.com/vladroberto/IXCoin/releasesThe source code is here https://github.com/vladroberto/IXCoin Happy new year a little early !!Thanks Ahmed for confirming it was complete. Any feedback on how it is running for you is certainly welcome. I am not releasing builds for linux they are not nearly as difficult to compile and if you are able to run linux I am sure you can build it easily. Also unrelated to this on a prior post I wanted to acknowledge Frictionless for correcting my count of coins in the abe block crawler, yes you are correct it is 1/2 a million coins not 4 million as I was so excited when I found them I did not look closely enough !! Still 1/2 a million is a lot of coins to have been moved to one address..... but then nothing about iX is really 'normal' .... Strange things have gone on in the past and I imagine it will continue....

I cannot imagine any pools using a windows client to mine, linux would be the choice... There should be no conflicts on the ix network if a pool uses old builds vs. new ones. I think an advantage of using the newer code is it might be faster (for things like writing to disk or latency) and in the case of iX the coin control feature is partially crippled (meaning you cannot send what would be one satoshi and set the fee to zero or what would be one satoshi in iX.... this was hardcoded in the source) The only time a pool 'must' really upgrade is if you make key changes to the source code and using the 'protocol' kick all old clients off the network which is not the case here. I am uncertain of the status of the other coins merged with bitcoin if they have updated to 9.x level but my guess is no. If the merged mining is done with eloipool I would not be able to configure it for more than two coins myself and I think attempts to do so with some coins using older and newer codebases might complicate things..... This is speculation on my part I have never ran a pool so others may have the answers. There is more information here : https://gitorious.org/bitcoin/eloipool/source/70e71f71a69b48ddf73ef2943f6988422c56c5b9:READMEand here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Merged_mining_specificationedit 1 a security risk would be running old software that is easier to break into or wallets you cannot lock, for a user who wants to run the full satoshi client (qt) wallet I would suggest using the 9.x codebase. Read the bitcoin wiki and list of upgrades in particular to how 'inputs' and 'outputs' are handled for more detailed information and other reasons the 9.x is superior to prior versions. Double-Wow! Thanks to Cinnamon, GroundRod & Ahmed. Where is GroundRod? Did he not come to receive the honours?
Now Ghash.io has to test merge mining.
Dumb question: what happens if a pool remains on a old version and another move to 0.9.3? Do we benefit of new functionality? Is there any security risk in doing it?

Thanks Cinnamon, I feel like I've left you out probably because I had the impression IXC was looking after you but if that's not the case I certainly have some IXC for you too. Just let me have your address and I'll try out the new build. Cinnamon has never been paid any bounty (by IXC) for any of the work she has done. She does this on the little spare time she has so if anyone wants to tip her then I'm sure she would appreciate the gesture. Cheers!

Using eloipool ive been able to get around 5 coins merged mine together all of different versions of the BTC base(although i did rewrite quite a lot of eloipool and the merged mining proxy in the process to fit my needs. Now ive moved to some other code though. waiting for my new server to be brought online for me on monday before i can get to work on getting anything online Ahmed

I know what the problem is (the lack of seed nodes in the network, can everyone here who has an ixcoin client running, go to about, debug window, console and then type getpeerinfo. Paste the output of that in here so that i can hard code them into the client)

After reading this wiki page about world currency, http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_currencySome interesting things popped out at me. For instance in 2009 there were several countries and organizations such as IMF and the UN that called for a supranational currency. 2009. Isn't that when bitcoin was created? And this interesting quote Advocates, notably Keynes,[16] of a global currency often argue[16] that such a currency would not suffer from inflation,Hmmmm, no inflation any more with IXC. This is one of the strongest points of showing off the identity of IXC. In fact the no inflation should be the top of the list. And this gem. Alternatively, digital gold currency and cryptocurrency can be viewed as examples of how global currency can be implemented without achieving national government consensus. And the IMF keeps getting mentioned throughout the article it makes me think that the I in IXC stands for International. The C stands for currency or coin or at this current price, cent. And the X,, probably exchange. So, International eXchange Currency. The same article mentions VEN and hubculture. ( as an aside, maybe those would be good partners for IXC)
