Let stick to 1 NXT = 1 VOTE. That is the simpler approach and it seem fair to begin with.

Let's not. Let's try and find a solution, instead of just giving up.

1 NXT = 1 VOTE is the cleanest soluation. Not sure why people doubt that. All other approaches with account caps (e.g. one account can have a maximum of x votes) can be manipulated by creating mulitple accounts. And the more complicated it gets, the more are people discouraged to vote in the first place.

And of course small account holders will criticize this approach and thats totally natural, but i have a only a few nxt too and still think that people who invested in the project in the first place should have a bigger saying.

It's not so obvious solution.

There are at least three known ways to vote:

1. every individual has 1 vote     (analogy to NXTsystem: 1 account = 1 vote)
2. every share      has 1 vote     (                                1 NXT      = 1 vote)
3. every "skill"      has x votes    (      don't know how to implement in NXTsystem     )

The example for the 3rd one is from groups, where skilled people, experts had
more weight in their votes than others.

In global NXTsystem is no persons, no trusted persons, therefore no skilled persons either.
Just NXTs and accounts. Unless there will be built a method to give identifications
to accounts (...which cannot be gamed:).

Which one is better? The 1st or the 2nd?

The 2nd is suitable for economical issues, which concerns the owned wealth.
E.g. companies' general meetings, where is decided company's future plans:
the people who own more shares, they own bigger part of the company, and so they
have more votes.
But is NXTsystem a company, which can be owned?

The 1st is suitable for non-economical issues.
In NXTsystem it has the problem of "splitted accounts".
How splitted accounts could be rejected or at least made more uncomfortable?

  - require forging
  - require at least 1 NXT in account (then splitting would cause some costs)
  - ...

a sneak peak to my idea about a green Nxt video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic_WLMPX888&feature=youtu.be

It's cheesy, yet funny and spot on Smiley

It made me laugh, very accurate though!

good video,
some watchers may still be interested in the numbers and ask for the proofs: could there be also a link to those calculations.
Or is it better that now is only raised some questions ...

I agree, that's why NxtMyths projects start as a paper, will continue as infographics and will be completed in the video(s). I just wanted a little more fun for 2 hours Cheesy

ok Smiley
Sometimes it may be better to start with the video. But, ofc it's safer to start with facts and proofs Smiley

Who is looking after the testnet? Is it CfB?
I don't think the deadline in placing BID_ASK orders works.
I created some orders 2-3 days ago and they are still available. Then I opened one today with deadline 5mins

Here is the API call
http://holms.cloudapp.net:6874/nxt?requestType=placeAskOrder&secretPhrase=PASSPHRASE&asset=2514416012262277241&quantity=888&price=88&fee=1&deadline=5

Result:
{"transaction":"15792899347256983572"}

here is the order
http://holms.cloudapp.net:6874/nxt?requestType=getAskOrder&order=15792899347256983572
Result:
{"price":88,"asset":"2514416012262277241","account":"4432258843260249105","quantity":888}

is it a bug?

Also do you think we should be able to see the deadline (expiry time left) for the order when we do getAskOrder?

When CFB is not here who is working on the APIs?

It's not only miners.
I had a civilised discussion with someone in DOGE who posted this vote to reddit yesterday.
He basically was worried about Nxt, mostly because anytime he asked a question about it, or uttered some criticism he got swarmed by people shouting him down.

That doesn't give a good impression.

I just linked to some more recent facts and kept at it without trying to convert him and he rather quickly turned out to be a smart guy wanting to listen and exchange ideas.

Sometimes overzealous people can be a big turnoff. If someone doesn't like Nxt, that's their business. (I feel)
It's up to us to keep feeding them facts in a polite manner, even if they become rude. Be better than the rude people.

Edit: and yes, where ís CfB?  Huh

AGREE ....I wouldn't even call it marketing but EDUCATION.....we have to EDUCATE THE PUBLIC.

WHY ARE PEOPLE OPPOSE TO THIS.....WE HAVE ALREADY SET THE MARKETING BUDGET AT 3 MILLION.....lets use some for PRINT ADDS & RADIO SPOTS TILL APRIL.

Would you people stop speaking in caps? What is it, a teenage girls chat room?

I personally don't read any posts with this kind of text.

You want to emphasize something, use italic.

fine that is your opinion..what about bold??..do you think that would work also?

P.S. By the way I didn't know there was a rule on using caps in this forum.

Anyone else get VERY SLOW responses from the API? I use it on http://nxtra.org faucet - which now loads very slowly since updating to 0.5.10 - any ideas?

Edit: never mind, redownloading the entire blockchain seems to fix this issue.

Edit 2: actually, as soon as it comes to block 51xxx it starts to massively slow down again... Anyone experiencing the same?

Same here. It's unusable after block 51.000. I have to stop developement on my client until this is fixed.
I am aware of the problem, I will have a fix later tonight or tomorrow.

I need to know the precise definition of guaranteed balance before I can provide a fix. I wrote an alternative implementation of Account.getGuaranteedBalance(), but it is giving me different results than the original getGuaranteedBalance() which CfB wrote. While trying to track down why that is, I found a few things in getGuaranteedBalance() that don't make sense to me, but I don't know which are bugs and which are a part of the Transparent Forging design. I cannot continue with that problem until I know how exactly it is supposed to work.

I am waiting for a response from CfB. In the meantime, I will continue my work on 0.6.0.

There is no rule. We are a self-organized community, so just let's try and be better at things we do.

Bold is for something really important, like an announcement, that you don't want people to miss.

Italic is commonly accepted for emphasis, it doesn't "jump" at you from the page like bold.

Just out of curiosity guys, but are there any plans to have exchanges trade FIAT directly for NXT?

This I feel is really necessary to get NXT to stand on it's own two feet and make the market more accessible to the average joe. A big part of me really feels that as long as this never happens, it's going to be much harder for NXT to provide any real competition to BTC and/or any other altcoin in existence right now. If NXT was one of the first to adopt this sort of thing, I think it would be potentially huge for this rising currency.

I'm not saying to get rid of any BTC>NXT transactions, just saying that as BTC is valued on FIAT, so should NXT should it wish to stand on it's own stage - instead of being valued directly towards BTC.

TLDR;

My view is, as long as coins are bought or traded with BTC, BTC will always be dominant. It just seems entirely counter-productive to the whole "Second gen" theme.

Can you post a listing of just that one function?

Maybe the collective brain here will be able to figure it out.
