Just a humble suggestion: How about an investment in a spare server and a cisco router/switch with spanning tree

I am really new. Any help would be much appreciated.
So I decided to try out deepbit.net and yesterday I was having no issues, was able to connect and generated 0.00051738 BTC in my small little trial. I decided to turn on the computer and start reading more today, but now i am unable to connect to my account with the miner. I have been mining away, but My Account doesnt show me connected at all... I have tried multiple times and my name just stays red

So, 2 questions:

1. How can I fix this so I connect and my computers work is credited towards my account ?
2. Where is my work going now and who is getting credit for it ?

I am using Ufasoft

bitcoin-miner.exe -a 5 -o http://pit.deepbit.net:8332 -u thegreatcrafter@[edit].com -p [edit]

Hey Tycho just wanted to say great job on staying on top of things in your pool. Whenever there are problems they dont seem to last too long and you are always working on it before anyone even has to say a thing! Your like a robot man and it is much appreciated on this side. This kind of service keeps me coming back to this pool every day! Smiley

Average time to generate each share at 3 MH/s is 23 minutes and 51 seconds. Are you sure that you are waiting long enough to see shares counter increasing ?

Tycho, would it kill you if you had a limit on how big your pool in relation to the total hash rate of the network is and maintained it below say 40%?

My personality type: INTJ - please forgive my weaknesses (Not naturally in tune with others feelings; may be insensitive at times, tend to respond to conflict with logic and reason, tend to believe I'm always right)

Bitcoin is a decentralized system and should be controlled by itself. If some people want the hashing power to be spread over many pools - they have to create a better offer to users.

Closing registration wouldn't really help and my users won't like it.
It's not like I should make my service bad, it's other people should make their service better.

Can you imagine AMD representative coming to Intel office and asking them to stop advertising, make their processors slower and more expensive ? :)
Competition doesn't works like that.

Your analogy is flawed in that Intel has absolutely nothing to gain from trying to be less competitive where in your case if the network gets compromised because your pool got too big and you get hacked it could severely shake the confidence in Bitcoin and it is in your best interest not to allow that to happen.

And don't tell me you can 100% guarantee the safety of your server.

So, I'm kind of dying to know Tycho, what magnitude of Bitcoins have you made from your pool?
three figures, four figures, five figures?

Confidence in Bitcoin will be even better when people see how the system instantly heals itself in case of such event.

A pool speed of 2.000Gh/s and a 3% fee, means he's currently "mining" at 60Gh/s.

Put that into the mining calculator Smiley
