Fire . The one thing I'm worried about. Was just about to click buy on another. That's scary. 1 of my S1's was dead this morning, thought it was a bad psu. Plugged it into another and one of the caps exploded and started on fire! This is it for me now for sure.
ive kept an eye out in most hardware threads for anybody talking about their units starting on fire, and this is the first ive noticed. as i may have to leave my s1's running for a period of time unattended i wouldnt want something like this happening. this single incident does not phase me and i bought 3 more s1's this morning.

I find that highly unlikely. Capacitors of the size found on the S1 aren't large enough to cause a fire unless you're stacking your S1s on top of gasoline or something. It's always possible that there was some freak accident, I suppose.

New price for AntMiner S1: 0.492 btc each one, shipping cost included.
Why heavy customs duty is charged? Can you sell via ebay global then customs duty will become predictable. Currently how much is the declared value in the customs invoice? Assessed for $600 imho is high as f*ck, customs charge like 150 usd for a such declared value (almost the cost of the miner itself)

It's always possible that there was some freak accident, I suppose. It exploded as soon as I turned on the psu. POP. I was able to blow it out right away. All thats left is the inside of the cap all charred. It was the big silver one located just below and to the right of the 6 pin connector. I will post a pic tomorrow. It probably would have extinguished itself if I hadn't been there but its always a little scary with electrical fires. It doesn't look like there is much on the board to go up in flames but who knows. Lesson learned, I am getting a dry extinguisher asap just to be safe. And I would be happy to replace the S1 with a S2 if I was given a super awesome coupon for the trouble. Win-Win.

I'm in Ecuador, so bitmaintech listed my S1 as a "Video Game Gateway" and around $160, so Aduana (Customs) here inspected it, didn't know what it was, so they only put a $16 duty on it. DHL paid it for me and then charged me $10 for the courtesy. So in all, I only paid $26 for duty/fee and was thrilled it didn't get hung up for a month.
I ordered a 1000W power supply from Tiger Direct for about $120 plus about $45 in shipping, and not only did customs hold it up for about a month in Guayaquil, I had to pay $100 tax on the damn thing. Customs... what a racket!

About $26 a machine. No customs issues, just pay the man when he comes to your door.

About $26 a machine. No customs issues, just pay the man when he comes to your door. Its even cheaper for multiples. My last order of 9 averaged $18 per ant. Shipping is fast and smooth, no problem getting them in the country.

Got my own P2Pool running..
In my sig if you want to look
Ant's did a very large portion of that, around 0.07, remainder was made up with scrypt mining, and smaller ASIC's pointed to other pools/coins
