Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

I got a large stake in Darkcoins, bought most of them last week Smiley

There are some other anonymous coins out there or in the making, like AnonCoin ZeroCoin and Im expecting that Etherium will have some kind of mixer developed for it.

Can anyone explain to me how Darkcoin is superior to these other coins.

-Thanks  Smiley

Can someone explain me whats the advantages of DarkCoin on other coins?

I see there is too much talking about having some better kind of anonymity mechanism, but are there any other advantages?

Thanks

EDIT:

You should read the annual statement from the Bitcoin Foundation Chairman.

https://bitcoinfoundation.org/blog/?p=679

It's not that other coins have a lesser anonymity mechanism. They don't have any.  Before you can compare apples with apples, you need to research the basics of the fundamental problem of eCash and alt-coins.

So why should I buy DarkCoins? I'm an investor and I'm looking for coins to put money in, can someone give me some good reasons? I see the DarkCoin growth both in volume and in price so its a strong indicator of something...

I'm trying to work it out too. So far I've been told that this single anonymous crypto is going to allow Chinese people to move money around undetected, and businesses to hide their transactions from competitors, as if they can't already. And hey, maybe you want to hire a hooker and don't want your wife to find out, and cash isn't an option. But even if Darksend works well and people want it, it can still be implemented onto another crypto-currency.  Also the market cap isn't a secret and people can tell when you are putting money in to Darkcoin... No-one seemed to care about Bitcoin's transparency when they were buying stuff on the Silk Road... But somehow this is all going to be worth billions of dollars soon Roll Eyes

Hehe I would love to pay the hooker by just giving her "one" coin

If that's what you're into, besides Darkcoin there's also Sexcoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin... They all have a chance of being used this way

I haven't really looked into these, I don't think they are quite the technological innovator Darkcoin might be, any fans of these other ones here??

I've asked it before and will ask again - what's the deal with Dark? Why is it that any time it seems to be getting traction price-wise toward 20, it gets sold right back under 20? It's looks like a conspiracy to keep the price suppressed.

AnonCoin - nothing here really yet. Dev is working on implementing Zerocoin.

ZeroCoin - some new cryptographic math. Over my head, so I have no idea of the ins and out of the whole shebang, but according to people way smarter than me using new crypto like this may very well be proven vounerable. Also, if someone cracks it (like the NSA, who have the power and time do to it) the whole thing will be shown in plain text. So, even it if takes a few years or so, there is always that risk, and no way to know if it's been compromised or not.

Etherium - not even at IPO stage yet. Who knows what will happen there?

Darkcoin - works now. Full time dev. Built in coinjoin. Way ahead of the pack so far.

I think Monero (XMR) is very interesting.

Is there a really comprehensive guide to setting up a master node? I feel like many of us want to do it, but don't possess the technical know-how to pull it off, even so far as setting up DDoS protection or a static IP.

I don't believe it's sufficient to say "If you don't know what you're doing, you shouldn't get involved" Either.  Everyone has to start somewhere!  Big tips to whoever can put together some info about how to get a master node up and running

I think we should strongly consider using PRWeb for the press releases. Much easier to get it out there than sending it to individual websites (although we should do that too).

I've used prweb before, I asked mannie for a couple changes then I think it's ready to go. Does anyone have an account with prweb? I know otherwise we'll end up paying $120+ (I forget the exact amount they charge). I think this would be a good use of the bounty money

Well, thank you all those who are already cashing out! The rest of us who need cheap coins need this downward pressure on DRK. If it wasn't for your impatience who knows where DRK would end up today. F'ing idiots, sorry, I mean geniuses.

As with everything especially alt coins some people just want to trade for quick profits. When Darkcoin makes its real move it will leave many behind. No big thing though it's good for distribution and late comers always have a chance to get in. Many people just want to ride the next pump, they don't care what coin it is. I'm done playing that game. I choose to hold onto Darkcoin with a death grip because I've decided that it's one of the very few alts worth having at this point.

But the alt community will keep throwing money at the next Edgecoin. It's sad. Altcoin community will throw btc at every new fad get rich quick scheme. It's just the way it is.

I made money trading BC but totally missed the move past 10000. I was watching in disbelief from the sidelines. But thats because I wasn't holding for the long term. Very few people are holding alts long term. I will not be on the sidelines for Drk.

Have you guys heard of Fiverr ?

They have a "Press Releases" section that has a bunch of people willing to post on numerous different PR sites for only 5$

Basically this site has allot of people willing to do all kinds of promotions or just what ever for 5$

http://www.fiverr.com/

/edit I just browsed through some of the promotions on the site and saw that we could have Elmo educating people on Darkcoins

Fiverr is not that great. Lot of seo blackhat services there (farm blogs with rewritten contents giving the illusion that there is an active/organic campaign).
