Is mining X11  as much ram intensive as scrypt N ?

If you can mine anything else, you can mine DRK, and at half the power consumption.

If what you are asking is can the X11 algo (or chain of algos) be tweaked to exclude ASICs like scrypt-n, then the answer is yes. ANY software can be modified a million times faster than ASIC hardware can be designed and implemented. Litecoin could hard-fork and become ASIC resistant tomorrow, but they are too clueless to do so.

There will be no ASICs produced for X11.

Get on board now, scrypt is dead, and X11 uses half the power of scrypt-n.

I think I just persuaded myself to sell my VTC stash...  Cool

Let's not spread FUD..

The barriers to litecoin hardforking are the exact same as the barriers to darkcoin hardforking to be becoming asic resistant. And litecoin dev team is FAR FAR away from clueless. I own 0 ltc, and tons of drk, but even I know the ltc development team is far ahead of drk's solo dev.

There will be asics produced for X11. It's just a matter of time and Evan himself has already said that he doesn't see that as a bad thing and welcomes it.

I have no problem with the statement that scrypt is dead. It's surely dying, and rightfully so.

You know what the barriers for users are to a hard fork? A mandatory wallet update, and if they mine, maybe a miner update. That's it. And auto wallet updating should be implemented anyway. If LTC remains scrypt, it will be forgotten within 12 months. Its whole reason for existing has disappeared.

Exactly.  I was following all of the debate on /r/dogecoin, many were suggesting a switch to x11 (smart IMO) but there were TONS of people making the retarded claim that a hard fork would kill the coin. Hilariously they were not being called out on their nonsense because only a handful of people over there have a clue..  A hardfork is not that big of a deal, and doge (as a community coin that recruits many newbie miners, which is thier main strength) would benefit greatly from a switch to x11.  I think there are a few people in both the LTC and DOGE community who have already invested heavily into ASICs and are spreading nonsense for their own gain.

This assumes the philosophy of intellectual property is compatible with the world of cryptocurrency with a focus on anonymity.

Pure anarchy tends not to work well.

Copycoins would have a choice:

1. Licence DarkSend, benefit from the hard work being done for them and existing market recognition.
2. Use DarkSend unlicenced, good luck getting any serious investment due to the blatant illegality of it
3. Come up with something themselves, ie hard work

Works just fine actually. You going to have the state enforce this IP model? I don't think so.

Give me some examples of functional anarchistic societies that involve more than three hippies living in a commune...

I'm no fan of "the state", but if we can play the system to our advantage at close to zero cost then why not?

In your anarchistic utopia the only currencies that matter will be ammo, water, food, medicine... same as it ever was.

It's the pockets of Anarchy in every society that keeps it moving, nothing could be done without it.... but there's plenty of places you can go on the internet and learn about how wrong you are there. The point is, crypto is the last place intellectual property will be respected... because it only exists in the minds of statists.

I meant anarchy on a country wide scale. I agree with you that it's the free-thinkers from whence springs progress...

About the crypto "community" not caring about IP, I also agree, but we need to stop preaching to the choir and target everyone else, deal with society at large. It is in our own interests to do so. There's no reason we can't use the existing system for our own gain. We've paid for it...

Probably unrelated, but in the last 90mins I have received four small payments, "Mined" as in from a p2pool, of 0.002-0.004 DRK.

I am not and have never mined DRK via p2pool...  Huh

My rigs showing still connected to the official pool, all as it should be on my end. Odd. LOL, has POS been implemented?

This is not possible...  Please link to proof on block explorer?

My guess is you got a delayed pool payout from previous mining or somthing...

I was solo mining using Simply CPU Miner, have now switched to the wallet miner to see if that makes a difference.

There are unintended consequences with trying to claim IPR.

property rights denote ownership. Ownership denotes an owner. Owners can withhold their permission and their rights can be sold or passed on to third parties.

To defend IPR you need to levy the threat of legal action. That implies you need to be capable of retaining lawyers to pursue infringements, even on a global basis. That opens up the potential to open court, disclosure and distraction. It also opens up the potential to lose IPR rights in the case of losing a court case and not being able to pay costs.

If you assert IPR, that means you become a point for failure in a decentralised environment. If freedom from government intervention is sought, claiming to own the keys to the system opens up owners to cease and desist orders. The system can be switched off.

I would leave the issue of IRP off the agenda.

Lets talk about moon landings and setting up space 1999 colonies instead.

Right now our points of failure are Evan and Kyle. Who effectively own DRK. We need a bigger team and a concrete backup plan.

Seriously, you advocate ignoring the world around you and dreaming about space colonies?

One step at a time mate... reality is right here and now and in our face and burying your head in lala land is just going to get you raped by the predators. Who are going to beat you to the moon too.

I think we did the darkcoin clone threats, protect DarkSend IPR at the end of march and start of April.

I even launched my own clone to point out the ease of cloning and using cheap gimmicks to get ahead.

OK. My breakaway faction of 1 is not technically a faction. It's more like a lone loon.

With great regret, I have decided to cancel the DarkDogeCoin.  Much sad. No $$. Fall from the moon. Cry

added 4 more coins launching with x11, DGW or a combination

Evan has officially reached The Fonz status

Having gone through an expensive corporate court case involving IPR, I know the pitfalls.

I think I've done more than bury my head in the sand.

But you are right, I do like the idea of being a space cadet and living in lala land. Worked for Doge  Wink

Yup Wink Same Litecoiners infiltrated the Dogecoin reddit to spread scrypt ASIC propaganda ("Secure the network" LMAO) and talked as if they are Dogecoin supporters ..
