How to understand the role of NEM core dev. team? NEM core dev. team should be considered only one group (albeit, an important one) within the NEM overall community- but not a centralized representative of NEM community. That means I would encourage NEM stakeholders to self-organize different teams/ groups that can operate independently from NEM core dev. team in a truly decentralized fashion, especially regarding to marketing and promotional activities. This I believe will increase the resilience, the diversity and the creativity of the network as a whole.

This should be considered a Prologue to NEM operation after the official launch, not that I ask the community for these decentralized activities right now - It is expected that we will fill the large bulk of all NEM necessary works (marketting included) up until our official launch, and probably extending until V1 blockchain completion as well.

I do not invite any account with litter activity (less than 5 posts) and likely to be a sockpuppet. The first wave of invitations are sent  to Priority 1 group (senior members with more activity or with likely more contributions). Given the number of stakes reserved for the waiting list, Priority group 1 is guaranteed to get a stake if they want and all of Priority group 2 are still very likely to have a stake as well.

The works on refunding list are almost done and now we are one step closer to the ultimate final stakeholder list. Stay tuned in the thread for more updates and the coming Alpha release. Thanks.

well i think people individually choosing taxation as an overall principle is nonsense. taxation should be based on common sense in any society. and avoiding taxation shouldn't be much of an issue if it were fair taxation. theres a potential that a protocol of all transactions like with bitcoins could be interesting to taxing authorities (way more personnel efficient, near full automation is possible, tax evasion would be more difficult)

i was wondering what kind of economy/society NEM could contribute to and if it could play a role in a  society with basic income. this because i think crypto currencies are just one of many necessary evolutions toward a more fair/free world. basic income would be another. maybe someone here has some thoughts to share on this...

alternative currencies can be other than global in nature depending on what properties the currency has. if the "bristol pound" (complementary currency to sterling) would have been introduced as a crypto currency (with the same properties as the current bristol pound considering the locally binding aspects integrated into the crypto version) it wouldn't be global in nature but it would have a lot of the benefits that a crypto currency, global in nature has, like decentralizing power. just to make a more concrete point here.

So is the coin generation called 'foraging' then? Is this final? I'm not sure I like it... it's not a word suited to a highly technological platform. 'Foraging' brings images to mind of people rummaging in bushes or shrubs to find berries or something...

To me, a word like 'minting' sounds much better.

I cannot stand the term "foraging". I'm glad to see someone else has an issue with this.

"Minting" does sound a lot better, but that word refers more to the creation aspect. Qubic's Network PoW is like our PoI, and they use "Minted" to describe how Qubic's are created and "Providers" are the nodes.

Yeah, the more I think about it 'foraging' sounds worse and worse... you wouldn't 'fish' or 'hunt' for coins would you?

Why would using 'forging' be a bad thing anyway? Every single PoW coin uses the word 'mining' despite differences in their individual algorithms. If 'foraging' was an attempt to be different than NXT then it's failed; it looks like exactly the same word at a glance.

I find nothing wrong with the just plain - good old fashion "forging".

Is  there anyone else that would like to replace the term "foraging"?
 

I would not use "forging". Some people feel it familiar because its has been used before but I don't think it is a good word to describe the process. What and how do you forge exactly ? Emunie uses hatching; Maidsafe uses farming; Not sure peercoin uses what but saying "forging" is good old fashion is a bit premature imho as it has no relevance with the process it is supposed to describe.  

Okay, here is amateur linguistic analysis: forge have two main meanings: the first is to counterfeit which has a negative connotation; the second is to form by heating and beating and hammering into shape. Now if you want to describe the process to a completely new comer and you say "I have been forging NEM all days". It sounds more like you are counterfeiting something. If the second meaning gets through, it also draws a complete picture like you are forging a blade or at least it indicates a transformation of the material during the "forging" process. You "foraging" and" harvesting" does suggest you picking up something already being there not a process of transformation even though now  harvesting feels a bit more evolved to me. So "foraging" and" harvesting" are more accurate relatively to "forging" when describing the process of getting NEM as block reward from transaction fee.
  

You are right "forging" is not the exact word for NEM's process, it's just that personally most anything would sound better than "foraging".
"Reaping" it does sound scary. The word needs to describe NEM's process. I don't know what the word is, but I think it should be more modern/technical.
"Harvesting" is an improvment over "foraging".

Regarding the auction and branding discussion, I think we need to push things forward with the marketing/branding process in order to really maximize the effect of the auction.

In this field it seems Blackcoin si making some real marketing moves.

We can learn from them and in addition to everything we have planned, create an investor's handout where we outline all the important info about Nem.

i actually had an idea last night... can we get a multipool mining now? i mean launch the multipool now and let it build up the btc until the coin actually launches? the mining power it could draw due to the massive interest in nem would be huge! and plus if btc takes a massive run up again you will see the dificulty of most coins go through the roof again... why not build up some funds up.. if nem wants to drop a bit after launch let it.. then after the drop start buying up with the mined funds..? what you think?

Yeah, they were pretty proud to beat NEM to the punch. Good for them. As long our multi-pool functions as planned its a big win regardless if we go first.

i had an idea! (again) lol

have a competition for news outlets (bitcoin magazine, coin desk, cryptocoinsnews ect)

prize of 1 stake split 6:3:2 = 1st 2nd 3rd place

for best article written and published about what nem is, the amazing work going into nem, and where/what nem plans to be in the future.

we could use the new marketing guy(s) or a dev to do interviews with the news outlets to give them a real indepth idea of whats going on!

the upside is these news outlets will them have a fair amount of nem and want to post more articles to help spread the word about there new investment

have links to all the articles posted here so that everyone(only stake holders to prevent gaming) can bote on the best article.

the article must be tweeted also as a requirement for entry into the competition!

I think setting up an email interview between the developers and a cryptocurrency news website is a great idea. They'd probably write an article on NEM regardless, without the incentive of a stake reward to be honest; they're always looking for new stories.

However, this is something to think about more seriously when there is a working alpha, or perhaps at release. Then the developers will have concrete facts to talk about and show off, including a whitepaper etc.
