The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

i would likely trade NEM on DGEX.com. Is it possible ?

In addition to this we should try to get on bter.com

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=502363.0

freeworm (an admin of bter.com) is all the time looking for something big and new. This would be a great big push for the acceptance of NEM and its value, too.

Polo would be a great one. Cryptsy just sucks. I think if it went to Bittrex than Polo or Polo than Bittrex you will see the most success. Polo is gaining huge volume everyday and is one of 3 exchanges I use. If NEM can get huge btc volume on those 2 Mintpal will add it without it being voted in.

Personally I'd like to stay away from exchanges that add every crapcoin. I wouldn't want to see NEM mixed in with all the clones and the rest of the swamp.
Let's try to get something more exclusive going for NEM Smiley

Also If I remember correctly we've decided not to approach DGEX. Best to set us apart from NXT and most importantly from NAS.

Yeah, I think an exclusive exchange would be great to start with, but we should also consider something like Mintpal. It is probably the best right now. Good security, simple and clean design, and really great customer service.(I have opened 2 tickets for problems. One was solved in 5 min and another in 30 min.) Mintpal should definitely be on our list.

When can i buy some steak ??

Unfortunately, the 'call for participation' ended 17th February 2014. There was also a waiting list (from which 120 people will be selected to join for a fee of 0.1BTC; this selection hasn't yet happened) which was closed 9th April 2014.

There will be an auction soon (possibly next weekend) where 120 stakes will be sold to the highest bidder. More information on this will be posted here on Bitcointalk or on NEM's various social network accounts (the forum, Reddit, Facebook and Twitter).

Alpha in a few days?!

The Alpha will be soon, but probably won't be in April; early May is likely.

To everyone: Make sure you read the F.A.Q.s thread on the forum, they should answer most of your questions.

I think a fair starting price for each stake is between 0.2-0.5 BTC. The stakes for the waiting list guys will be 0.1 BTC, so a 0.2 BTC starting price seems fair to me.

Not sure but I thought that Nxt would integrate an exchange into the wallet so that you don't have to use exchanges anymore and put your coins at risk of being stolen. Did Nem consider doing this too?

Would it be possible to distribute the stakes slowly, lets say within 1 or 2 months time to avoid dumping too fast ?
I would not mind to wait for a while to get my stake.

Very bad idea. People who will get the coins later will get screwed, while early ones pocket the money selling coins.  There will still be dumping, but only early ones would be making money, while those who come later will be left holding the bags,.

How would we trust the developers aren't picking themselves and their friends first?  They are already getting 10% of stakes, so they will have plenty to sell while  rest watch and wait.

If this system is adapted, I want to see provable/verifiable random mechanism.   That is, Sha256  (BTT account ID) then use that result in a java's Math.random as a seed. No special favors for developers.
