Yes we are dead...Octocoin is dead...Octohub is dead...it was a big fail and we all lost quite a bit of money. Sad story, but nothing really special in Cryptoland

well if you guys want to community takeover then i can fix these wallet issues and manage this coin
i can do this only if there are most of the member from community want this to happen and ready to donate small amount for my hard work(you can send to chosen escrow and release it to me after everything fixed)

I think we are getting to the point where we may have to do that... The major question is:

Once the wallet is fixed and Bittrex is back online, then what?

We cannot keep the Octo name probably. Their ideas were more software based and banking/debit card based. So where do we go from that?

We would have to figure out as a community what the purpose of the coin is and what we could add to give it value. Then find a way to give it the value.

I still think that is very doable and also better than just letting it slip away.

I can pitch in on graphic design, logo and marketing but I know nothing about coding or developing.

Also, we would have to figure out what attributes of the coin to change. If you leave everything as 8 then that's still the center of the design. Nothing wrong with that but what 8 things could we bring to the table?

don't change the name of the coin. the name is amazing. the ticker "888" is amazing. it just needs to be fixed and handed off to a group that will produce some results. ie. marketing, development, drumming up support etc.

if anyone knows of a group that can get this done right, get on it.

we'd all probably have to donate a % of our octo so that they can sit on a "pre-mine" equivalent for their work, and so they're actually invested in seeing the price grow.

I'm pretty sure 888 is already heavily trademarked, it's the name of a gaming company that's listed on the London Stock Exchange; http://www.888.com/
Octo has probably just been completely under the radar to their legal team and they haven't bothered with it.  When the dev started talking about gaming months ago I mentioned 888.com and asked if it was connected, the dev (let's call him bholzer for now) completely ignored the question and just let the suggestion sit out there and work its magic, worked on me anyhow, more fool me.  Thinking about it, I wish I had made 888 aware of Octocoin and the implied link, at which point they'd have either taken legal action or done nothing, which would have confirmed or denied the link for me.  Though at that point I was happy to just keep accumulating before anybody cottoned on.

"Octo" ought to be OK as a name and you could probably still keep the logo but just change the ticker.  If anybody starts claiming copyright on the logo or name they'll have to step up in person at which point a casual nod in the direction of the sec.gov website ought to be enough to get them to step down.

Well bholzer was active on his coin, Murraycoin a few days ago it seems from that thread. I guess he has given up on Octocoin as well since he has not posted or responded here in any way. What a shame.

I've amassed quite a bit of MRY and I would love to spread the wealth around to folks who can contribute to MRY in any way at all. Talk to me if you've got any programming / web dev / video / art skills... or hell, just talk to me anyway!

I have scanned the code and it appears that the dev(s) based (forged, snatched, copied, etc.) the code for the last Octo release from the DogeCore 1.7 ten days before it was released. The code is almost identical.

It appears there were a few tweaks added to the DogeCore just before it was released that are not in the Octo 1.8 release. At least two of these relate to transactions and possibly could be causing the issue at Bittrex. It looks like a really simple fix... if there is no other issues. I'll take a more in-depth look at the code and see if anything else pops up.

thanks for the support brian. glad to see Murraycoin getting some good media coverage this last week. cannot beat that. i only post on the Murray thread ever so often but i do hold some Murraycoin so glad to see it picking up some traction.

let's hope the devs here haven't abandoned us but it doesn't look good.
