I don't think pool or HVC developer should suggest miner to vote low, miners should make their own choice, though we really want to.
But it is our reponsibility to educate our miner how to make the best choice.
Anyway, we will consider your suggestion.
ZhPool
I think your pool (& 1GH) can be used to educate people about it and encourage gradual lower votes at least. 1GH currently is pretty much telling everyone to use a vote of 512. I will ask reorder if he can change that. Like a rally, maybe we should tell everyone to vote for 300! Then rally for vote of 200 after and so on. As I said before, it's all about influence. Many miners have no idea what -v actually does. So it'll be good if we can all work to change that. Less coins =! less profit. It it was equal, every other coin's block reward halving should mean they all die to unless price suddenly doubles. Edit: I've requested reorder if he can change his miner string sample with a lower (e.g. 128) vote count. (or a <vote> and get miners to choose) Edit2: reorder (hvc.1gh.com) advised that he may change the number to something lower or assist in educating the miners about that value!

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Yes,but you'd expect the price to increase proportionally with the reduction in block rewards, However it would be nonsense to imagine an instantaneous 72x increase in price, Seems that it would be prudent as a miner and supporter of the coin to start sliding down your votes as the sustain phase approaches to create a smooth transition.
Exactly, we need/have to go from 582 to 8 HVC reward in approximately 90 days time with a proportional increase in value to offset the difficulty and still keep the coin slightly profitable to mine. It's possible to do but each and every day the votes stay high just makes it harder and harder to accomplish. Right now the current vote is approximately the same as when it started or roughly in the middle. If this doesn't change then we'll have the cliff on the 1st day of sustain. I am a HVC supporter and investor but I absolutely agree with Carlos on this one. Having a huge reward cliff like that is really dangerous for the coin. There might be small chance that the coin will survive it but it would be much safer and healthier to start voting the rewards down gradually. As most miners seem to be too stupid or greedy to realize this we would need some sort of community initiative to reward low votes. One example could be a pool that gives out extra rewards for blockfinders with a low vote. This could be subsidized by the community with donations for example. I don't think pool or HVC developer should suggest miner to vote low, miners should make their own choice, though we really want to. But it is our reponsibility to educate our miner how to make the best choice. Anyway, we will consider your suggestion. ZhPool In the end it will still be everyones own choice and we cant force anyone on how to vote but educating the miners will benefit everyone in the end I agree that it would be unethical for the developer to urge miners to vote low but pools and pool owners are also part of the community so I see nothing wrong there. And it's not like we are trying to do something bad here - lower supply will mean deflation which will benefits everyone. Such a community up taking and rising prices will attract a lot more attention to the coin, reward the investors and encourage new ones and gives the miners a healthy coin to mine. wallet need to be updated because of the openssl vulnerability
Keccak512 posted earlier that HVC is not directly influenced by this vulnerability so the update is not critical. Edit: Great job Jakiman and Reorder

I'm all in for the community to vote low. I think pools can have a great impact on educating people not by telling them what to vote but by explaining the reasons why the think a lower vote would benefit the mining community. These kind of suggestions exist in all industries.

People are talking about a cliff when we go into phase 3 and they are right.
IMHO the solution would be to triple or quadruple the length of the second phase and proportionately lower the maximum reward for that period. That way new miners will still have incentive to turn their rigs to HVC during the summer months and the coin will have a more widespread adoption.
Another problem is the fact that you still can't use your HVC for much, so we need to campaign more aggressively for new retailers.
Maybe devs could use some of the IPO money to create buy support and/or increase bounties? This would also help with the premine FUD being spread (which I sort of agree with, premine IS usually a scam alert, though in this case the coins were sold at a fair price to a number of participants), since at least part of the money would be used for the benefit of the coin.

Just tweeted them. Over 4 hours since last block. They are still accepting shares though. Seems to be only problem of 1Gh. ZhPool is finding new blocks but not all of them one by one. Some blocks are apparently still found by other pools and maybe 1Gh is also still finding them, just something broke down on their server I assume.

Seems to be a display issue at 1Gh, probably. Look at the block progression where 1gh stops, 'other' suddenly takes over. The 'other' timeline was broken, fixed it after looking into 1Gh's line starting when they got an orphaned block note: Deltas are for the past 2 days as there was no update yesterday.
