When India was batting it was a bowling pitch and now it looks like a batting pitch as the New Zealand players are playing well and reached 63 runs without loosing a wicket . Pitch behaves in the same way for the whole day but the players have different approach which made the difference on the wicket column.Indian bowlers didn't find their length yet and green pitch seems much slower than expected so there is no furious pace on the balls.Jadeja got only one over to bowl and he bowled it extremely tight, maybe he have been given few more overs earlier to see any magical movement on the match.

Atleast a score above 200 else was not expecting them to even reach it. Kohli's repeated failure should give him a rest now and bring in a new player who is willing to perform. Three batsmen reaching 50+ is another wonder. Bringing in Jadeja instead of Ashwin was a wrong decision as he also did not help today.
Yeah that was the case for first inning score. But the way Prithvi shaw started his inning, he changed the all equation and India was in very good position. 2 quick wicket (kohli-Rahane) didn't helped their cause but even then Pujara-Vihari were batting wonderfully and many times kiwis were looking at backfoot. At one time Indians were standing strong at 193/4 and they were looking at 300+ score but vihari got reckless just before tea, similar to Prithvi shaw (just before lunch break) and then came the batting collapse. how are you supposed to put runs on scoreboard when last 6 wickets going down with in just 45 runs? Virat and his Comrade can't make Toss and Condition excuse in this match as they started the inning with the bang but failed to capitalize. Its home condition for Kiwis so they knew they just need to be patience enough to get back in the game and it worked for them during bowling and more importantly when they were batting.

Even commentators mentioned this while NZ batting. NZ tail enders scoring some important runs but in India even from the middle orders they are not scoring anything other than very few exceptions. Excited to see how Indian bowlers will tackle this on Day 2,hope they won't dissapoint their fans again.

It was good to see New Kid On the Block performing, I mean Prithvi Shaw. This guy has got enormous potential but, his performance in NZ has been disappointing. I think all newcomers want to come on the field and become a superstar without even realizing the format they are playing into. When money is at stake shit happens and their performance proves it.

I have zero expectations from the Indian team now. They are struggling in all sides of the game. Niether they are batting well nor balling. If this continues then Indian team will be in big trouble. There is nothing to expect if a team is performing like this after having a hyped up home domination, may be Kohli can come up with an excuse that they are just concentrating only on the T20 as the World Cup is coming up and they are experimenting with the rest of the team to find the best combination . Finally India is able to make a breakthrough and i wish the bowlers could bowl a decent line and line in a green wicket like Christchurch. After this IPL starts, expecting the stugglers to perfom there. I hope Kohli works on his issues fast.
I do not think that the IPL will be a huge struggle for the players as they are conducted in India, the challenge is playing the same in foreign green pitches.

Currently India is not completely out of this test as they are fighting and bowlers giving some good performance if they able to have 1 or 2 more wickets then surely New Zealand will also on backfoot as still traling by 125 runs now Nicholis and Latham on but Jadeja can do some jadu for them.

Now time for New Zealand collapse. Impressive fightback from the Indian bowlers Bowlers, first session and already 5 wickets in.... India back in game and kiwis still trailing 105 runs.. let's hope Kiwis tail gets knocked out soon.
Edit : Lunch break NZ 142/5, Session belongs to India
Edit:
- Sam Curran in England - Kyle Jamieson in New Zealand - Helpless Indian bowlers
Finally 9th wicket down after 50+ runs partnership... Jadeja took a blinder!!
NZ all out 235. lead is only 7 runs, All thanks to Jamieson's good knock. Well played
------------------------------------------- Shit lost bet on kohli.

India 70/3 and still the match is in progress,we have got 3 more full days play and only 17 wickets to be down so I guess the match won't even pass 4 day hardly ever.Kohli disappointed again and Mayank as well. === Edit: 84/5,what is happening there.

Poor performance from team India. It's 84/5 and leading with 91 runs by now. It's sad to see how Indian batting is collapsed, even Virat Kohli too. I doubt it will go 4th day. It's very much possible that we have a result in 3rd day although it's also possible that NZ batting will get bad days.

The way Indian bowlers bowled gave the thought that India has bounced back in the game because picking 10 wickets quickly and still India had lead by 7 runs in 1st innings. But the way Indian batsman are batting in second innings just gave the sense that Indian batsman are not able to withstand their bowling attack. They are 90/6 and lead of 97 runs now. Atleast India should have some 200 - 250 runs lead so that bowlers have something to look for to help India bring them back in the match.

They have stooped to a whole new level. For a change Indian bowlers performed brilliantly but batsmen again are struggling to bat infront of the NZ bowlers. Virat Kohli for a change has a double figure score this time.

Maybe. Maybe not. Don't expect India to go down without a fight. NZ may easily win this one if their batsmen pull through for them. It all comes down to the final total that India posts. The Indian bowlers took the match close but the batsman are not playing well and that is the biggest difference in the series, India has quality bowlers but they need to have runs on the board to defend the total and India already lost 6 wickets and the lead is just 97 runs and New Zealand will be looking to bowl out in the first hour tomorrow and win the match tomorrow itself.
I don't think so. NZ might be in a good position right now, but test matches are quite volatile and things change rapidly. If India end up posting a lead close to 200, NZ could be in trouble since their tail-enders are performing better than their primary batsmen.

90 for 6? Was happy when I saw NZ get 235 runs which means somewhere Indian bowlers succeeded in restricting the other team but again the batsmen disappointed them. Ig they don't get atleast another 100 runs NZ will be able to win the game again convincingly. Don't think Pant and Vihari would get another 50 also but with Jadeja, I expect it. Shami proved to be expensive taking just 1 wicket for 3+ RR.

Let's say the New Zealand batsmen were not able to play to their full potential. I seriously doubt Indian bowlers bowled well. I also think that the wicket is now supporting the bowlers more.

I'm giving credit where it's due. NZ batsmen are aware of the conditions and bowled on the same ground but were unable to pick quick wickets are we can see that except for Southee and Wagner, all the bowlers proved expensive. Infact Boult had an economy of 5+. Must say today Indian bowlers saved those 7 runs else NZ would easily manage 30-40 runs more. They were 130 for 4 and then suddenly 177 for 8.

If you have time to watch Day 2 game play then you won't say that India didn't bowled well. Shami and Bumrah played extremely well and there is no doubt in that pitch condition is in favour of bowlers but for that bowlers have to bowl well to take wickets and don't forget adding jadeja into the squad brought extra boost to the fielding of India. But later Indian batsmen didn't even played with basics they are playing like ODI format but in test technique is more important than stroke making and I observed that none other than Pujara is capable of defending and leaving the balls all of them were going to balls and wanted to hit it.

India still have a chance to salvage this series. They have a lead of close to 100 runs, and Pant and Jadeja are still there, along with Hanuma Vihari. There is a chance that they could get to a lead of somewhere around 160-180. This track is very difficult to bat on, and in case India can get to a lead of 180, then they will be having a real chance of defeating the Kiwis.

Exactly, but tomorrow morning pitch is going to be much harder to play in so I don't think any Indian batsmen will survive there. If they can able to play and reach 200 then there is pretty high chance to win this match with the quality of bowling India having. And 206 is the highest run chased ever on that ground so need 100 more runs to give competitive chase to their opponents.

One of the three batsmen (Pant / Vihari / Jadeja) need to play a major innings (i.e 50 plus). As of now, India is leading by 97 runs. They need a minimum of 65 to 75 runs more. I don't expect much from tail-enders such as Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. So the burden falls on the three batsmen. They should bat patiently and try to rotate strike tomorrow.
